Yeah I don't think they can. Just imagine if Wolverine releases next year with amazing graphics on the PS5 Pro. It'll give the PS5 Pro a real wow factor which Xbox will struggle to compete with. And the Pro will be the go to console for all third party games.
Look at the Pro sales. It was just 100 Dollars or so more than the PS4 Slim with almost double the power and got outsold 4:1. Pro is mostly for enthusiasts and not the casuals that make the majority of the buyers.

So I guess haptics, gyro and rechargeable battery will become GREAT features rather than 'nah, we don't need them to play mah xbox games, also they eat mah batteries' features??
I learned to love AAA batteries, I use a pair when charging the other. To replicate that, is have to buy another controller

Oh that wonderful cloud gaming, which still takes forever to start and looks terrible despite having fibre internet. That's if you don't just get told there are too many people playing and try again later.

I'm more interested in that quieter controller with swappable parts, that's a lot of positive points. Digital console? Not for me, thanks anyway Bill

Microsoft are probably hoping that their services and the games their first party will release will be enough to pull many people into the ecosystem and sell consoles. But it doesn't look great tbh. Sony will have a console that will completely outclass theirs for third party and I think Sony will still remain more attractive for 1st party games to the majority of people, at least for the next few years or so.

To be honest, this is all I want Microsoft to do.

Forget the competition of doing a good third party box, just offer awesome games and services to bring people in. They have PC to offer the power option. Go wild with that...buy what you want.

I'm hoping they use this opportunity to tick tock Sony and leave every console manufacturer pushing great content to incentives their eco system.

I'll have my awesome pc and xbox for my spare rooms. Ps5 Pro for my Sony exclusives and Nintendo to be the wonder that it is.

Is this straight out of the PS3 playbook? start the come back with some decent games and some console refreshes. It does look sharp and adorable at the same time Haptics are the under rated feature this gen. Controller is still an xbox controller. They've failed at the roadmap for games though and are about to kill of physical sales even more.

yeah and they’re horrible and nowhere near what dualsense has.
dualsense pretty much set the new standard for rumble in controllers and is the reason for this “refresh”

but keep going with your damage control. it’s mildly entertaining
What damage control? Every company in similar industries builds off the success of their competitors and learns from failures.

The haptic feedback on the dual sense was created by a 3rd party company that also worked on the HD rumble feature of the joycons.

Are you seriously going to implicate that every rumble feature in the future is derived from Sony?

Really couldn't care about the digital Xbox Series X they should've had instead of XSS. Some of those games though, sound pretty nice.

I'm sorry, WHAT?! xDDDD.

You compare tumble triggers to haptics and adaptive triggers?

It's like comparing steering wheel with rumble and steering wheel with Force Feedback. Guess which one shits on the other and is VASTLY superior.
It's almost as if there was years of advancement and iterations between these two technologies. Fascinating.

You must think that all inventions are formed in a vacuum.

Didn't Phil say there's no need for an updated XSX ??

well well well, looks like he got trapped between PS5pro and Switch 2 coming out in 2024

original XSX should drop down to be the new XSS so devs can't complain about XSS slow cpu anymore

Both features are made from the same company.

You're saying that because PS5's implementation is the latest, none that have come before (and there have been many versions across many platforms) have any merit?
Please don't put words into my mouth that I never said.

PS5's implementation is superior and produces better results than Nintendo Switch's. One is rumble; the other is haptic feedback. Different techs. Just because one company made both technologies does not mean both are the exact same things.

Even the CEO of Immersion calls it brand-new.

Perhaps a better argument I could make is that the PS5 Pro makes the Series X very unattractive assuming that it's similarly priced to the Series X. The Series X and the PS5 Pro will both be targeted at the enthusiast market but why would the majority of enthusiasts consider a Series X over a PS5 Pro? They won't be able to compete on power so they'll have to hope their 1st party and services are enough to win enthusiasts to them. But enthusiasts value power above everything most of the time. And Sony will probably continue to outclass Xbox wrt to 1st party at least for a few years. The PS5 Pro will be so much more attractive to enthusiasts and higher spending buyers than the Series X that I don't see how the Series X will compete very well in that market.

How many tittyflops is it now? 20? 30?
It's not a mid-gen upgrade, it's just a revision of the Series X.

Your correct the Pro console is will get massively outsold again. The problem for Xbox is they might see those enthusiasts (High Spenders ) migrate over to Playstation if they don't provide there own mid-gen refresh.

According to the document the Series X refresh should have been announced at the same time as the Series S revision I wonder what caused them to change there minds.

What time is it?
Rounded case is weird and is a waste of space. Keep it square, man. Can't wait for Doom to be announced as exclusive (case-by-case basis!). The Nintendo stuff is funny. I bet Phil still thinks he owns Donkey Kong because of the Rare purchase.

So if you bought a Series X and bought all you game physically, Microsoft is like...

galaxy-quest-guy-fleegman.gif

Looks like your standard series x will be the same?

A lot of people asked for this...I'm not sure why, but they did.

The 2tb is gonna stop them from dropping the price, which is what I think Microsoft needs to do more than anything.

If this was 349.99 or 399 they could be onto a winner.

You are trying to argue that Xbox already has haptics like DualSense? Really?
DualSense haptics feedback is currently the most advanced since Sony made it a priority for the PS5 controller. I simply said the technology has been present in various forms for many years, including a lesser version in the impulse triggers Xbox introduced back in 2013. Technology advanced, fancy that.

How about he spends his time actually doing his job then instead of "shooting the shit" and writing paragraphs fantasising about buying up (or bribing) the entire industry?
Im sure gaming executives for other companies fantasize about buying out the competition
