I have to say England not having a prayer and everyone in our media saying we'd do good to get out our group is so refreshing. This is the first tournament in my lifetime (except for those we failed to qualify) where there is no pressure on us to do good so I can sit back and watch all the other teams without any worry or expectation!

Didn't Adidas remove the eagle from the 2012 Polska jersey and Poles went apeshit.

It's more complicated than that. From what I gather Adidas aimed to give their new line of jerseys the retro look, so they stylised them to resemble official jerseys from the 70s. The point is that in the 70s Poland was still under Soviet occupation and Soviets removed the crown from polish coat of arms (crowned white eagle), because they considered it "aristocratic" and "conservative". Needles to say, we didn't like our almost 1000-years old national symbol desecrated like that, especially that it reminded us of humiliation we suffered from the Soviet boot stomping on our necks.

And then came Adidas and just mindlessly copied the old jersey design, along with crown-less, communist eagle.

Did something similar happen with the French kit too? It's made by Nike now.

Nope, the French Federation went to Nike because of the money. Nike gave them 42.5 millions euros for that contract, more than 4 times what they were getting from Adidas.

I didn't quite give the World Cup fantasy game my full attention, but I'll be in if someone does a GAF league.

Lindegaard is the second most popular keeper?! Are people not aware that he's the third choice for Denmark.

Anyways, I signed up. Have you created a league?

If it works like it did during the World Cup, different players cost different amounts. You can't just have top players. Lindegaard is probably minimum cost for GK.

I have created a league but I don't know how to hide the invite code in quote tags :/ can I PM someone the code and they do it or someone tell me how haha.

Thanks, joined the League. I don't follow who's playing well at the moment or who's actually playing or injured by the way. Don't expect too much. :p

Joined. Got quite a lot of extra cash though, so will probably have to do a few upgrades. Lets get that league info in the first post!

Cheers. I just did a random squad selection at first and to my surprise I got EBJT! I'll probably have to swap the rest before kickoff.

Those shirts/countries make no sense. I have never played a fantasy league before as well, time to make a squad!

I find that there are two ways to approach it: either you swap a lot of players in between rounds or you aim for stability. The former requires you to analyze each match, calculate transfer fees and in general spend time planning your next move. The latter on the other hand requires very little maintenance once you've selected the initial starting XI - you just have to predict group winners and select players from the 4-8 teams that make it through to the knock out stage. After the group stages have been completed you can update your lineup again.

The first approach can win you the league whereas the second approach will prevent you from total humiliation.

Heh, never been good at Fantasy Football. Here's my team (yeah I'm not sure about Coentrao. I guess I'll see how he'll play the first two games):

Already joined both GAF leagues.

I suggest changing the keeper since Valdes will be on the bench and will only play if Casillas gets injured(which is pretty rare for goalkeepers)

My team isn't that great but I don't mind, its just a bit of fun. :D

I've never played fantasy football before but would it be beneficial to choose players from teams that you think will go far in the tournie? More games = more points?

Ireland will beat Italy and draw with Croatia and Spain.

Last 16 here we come.

There is also a disgusting lack of Robbie Keane in these fantasy football squads.

He has a better record than Messi don't ya know.

No it wouldnt, according the the rules you'll be able to change your whole team after the group phase. You'll also be able to pick more players from the same team after the group stage.

Btw: looking at some lineups all can i say is: beware of the german team! As of right now, it's far from certain that Gomez, Boateng, Mertesacker get to start (some would even say it's unlikely ;) ). Don't forget that the current player pool doesnt necessarily represent the final Euro squads, so check / update your teams a few days before the start of the Euro.
