Several years ago I was on an overnight flight back from Tokyo and my wife and everyone around me was asleep. I started watching Jaws on my little screen because I couldn’t remember the last time I saw it all the way through. There’s a part where they’re under water at night and the shark appears from the deep out of nowhere and I shouted and slammed my hands into the screen, probably waking up a dozen other passengers.

So you see, this is a personal attack

Ah, I’m sorry to hear that.

It’s still shit, though.

I think i did something like that once, but it was caused by a sneaky curry before the flight and was bone-shatteringly explosive

I miss the days of posting my computers mediocre specs in my signature so I can let everyone know I play my games on medium settings.

Also, userbars.

Man, that guy with an account over a decade old really lost it and account suicided because a mod had a bit of fun while removing a post. Jesus, some people have hair triggers.

Anyone here ever suffer from back pain? I've been dealing with it lately, it's a new thing for me. I called my local hospital to schedule an appointment and the scheduling guy asked me if I wanted to see a spinal specialist or an orthopedic team. I'm not sure what the better one is for my symptoms, but I made an appointment for both.

Not sure if I should go to both of cancel one. I'm not even sure with an "orthopedic team" is. I'm guessing sports medicine esque? They'll probably recommend different stretches or exercises? I'm honestly not sure.

Anyone have issues with back soreness/tightness and what's the right type of doctor to see?

I had an accident riding my bike a few years back and my treatment took the form of a physio and a chriopractor... i dunno, i'm not a kook enthusiast but the chiro did have me feeling a bit better after every visit... in the end though it took time, i ended up seeing a second chiro after i moved to japan and eventually the pain sorted itself out, it was reassuring to get an x-ray and have them do the old car mechanic 'see there's where your problem is'

your pain could be totally different of course, but yeah if there's a good chiro around they might give a good dignosis and re-align your hips or whatever..

have u been lifting unusually heavy stuff? Put on a bit of weight lately? Got a bad chair at work or somesuch? Just a stressful time for you? Hope you feel better man

This might be low tier advice but Is your mattress getting old? Stuck in a chair all day?
I'm going based on the pain being a new thing (that just kinda started?) If you were injured recently or something sudden, disregard.

I didn’t do anything that would’ve injured it I don’t think. No heavy lifting, didn’t fall or anything. I’ve never had back problems in me entire life, and one day about a month ago, I was scratching my back and it was in a hard to reach spot so I bent over to get a better angle and this pain shot down my whole back and the few days after that were the worst. Super tight and painful. It’s gotten a bit better since, but still not 100%. Feels like I’m one awkward twist away from throwing it out completely again. Like when I bend over or do things at certain angles I get that intense jolt you get where it’s like my body is telling me “watch out, you’re about a second away from throwing your back out”

Ever since that day it’s like my whole back is super sensitive and every movement that isn’t eased into or small sets it out of whack. My primary thought it was back spasms, but I don’t trust him and am getting a new doc, so I wanted to see a specialist.

I would go with the specialist. Could be a spinal disc problem.

I dealt with chronic neck pain for years. It’s been pretty minimal for the last few. Back pain is obviously different but here some points about my experience you might be able to take something from:
  • I went to doctors and specialists and had an MRI. They said I have a herniated cervical disk. They wanted to give me a cortisone shot into the discs in my neck but I never had it done. The next step would have been surgery.
  • I went to physical therapy for it 3 separate courses (each course is like 10 individual sessions). They gave me a stretch routine routine to do.
  • A year ago when the pandemic started I got in shape and started going to the gym a few times a week, along with continuing my stretches from PT. My neck pain was GONE for this whole period.
  • I’m out of shape again and playing a shitload of video games, not sleeping enough, drinking too much, etc. My neck has been bothering me again and continuing to get worse.
To summarize, I would recommend a combination of working with your doctors and making lifestyle changes, while avoiding any invasive procedures. That’s what worked for my chronic pain.

You should have it checked out by a doctor to make sure it's nothing severe. It sounds like you may have pinched a nerv or maybe you annoyed your diaphragm.
Best thing to do for that kind of pain is Yoga (I know I know, its's kind of gay). Very slow and smooth movements to soften the tissue and deep breaths to loosen up. Good luck!

I saw Shinedown and Ayron Jones Sunday night. Good show. I was only about 3 rows back which was a first for me. The only problem was the cacophony of sound. The lyrics were hard to make out sometimes. I don't know if it was the building or the mix but if I didn't know the song it was hard to make out what they were saying.

First of all please excuse me if all medical terms are not correct english isn't my primary language and my keyboard is fucking dying.
The first thing to do is to locate as precisely as possible the pain,is it muscular which would hurt in a big area, a nerve that can either hurt in a line, a spike or everywhere depending on the problem or the bones where you would feel like a reallty painful rattling sensation but quite precise on where it is located.
That bad move could pinch the sciatic nerve for example and a chiropractor would greatly helped there.
But for muscular pain it can come from a lot of thing, matress too soft, inflamation or sprained muscle.Try to apply heat on the area and see if it is better.Sleeping on the ground can help too as a matress too soft can arch you in a bad position.
Since there hasn't been any choc maybe the age could be the problem (I have no idea how old you are but my dad suffered from a diminution in cartilage and had to have injections betweean vertebraes....It can be painful as fuck).
Based on what you described I'd go with either a muscle sprained or a twisted or pinched nerve, in both cases a chiropractor or a kinesiotherapeut would help.
Untill you get that medical appointment maybe try sleeping on something harder, your reaction to heat and cold can also help him identify better the problem.

That's a link I got from a closed REEEE thread. I was curious as to how the flakes would take it and I wasn't let down.
wow edgy. I liked him better when he just talked about fucking feet. He plays it safe on the “issues” he addresses to get attention for doing it while managing to only piss off the most fringe on the left.

I haven't seen the special myself. I doubt that's all there is to it though. That's simply what the outrage groups are focusing on.

Well if we need to fix your sense of humor this could be a bigger project 🙃
I think we need to fix your taste in films before we start anything major.

I've been taught to be polite to foreigners. However, you've managed to have the first objectively wrong opinion in the history of mankind:
