Microsoft's reasoning for the Xbox Series S was that we wouldn't see a slim revision of the Series X this generation. They didn't expect the next expected process change to yield size / cost ratio reductions comparable to previous console generations. If that holds true, it means we won't see a shrinking of the hardware, or, we won't see a reduction in the cost to manufacture it. So, if Microsoft got it right, a PS5 Pro will either have to be larger than the PS5 to get more performance, or, it'll have to be a lot more expensive to deliver it. I'll be curious to see what Cerny and co have cooked up to get around this stuff, or, if Microsoft was off in its predictions. Sony has also been pushing the "premium" angle for everything next gen; the console, games, and controllers are all a good bit more expensive than their last-gen counterparts. If they drop a PS5 Pro, it may end up being a very expensive machine. Can't wait to see more!
