Not everyone cares about Day 1. Personally, timed exclusives do nothing for me due to a backlog a mile long, quite happy to wait.I don't know whats worse. This article or the fanboys actually triggered by such a stupid article lol.
If another re-release of a bunch ps3 games and uc4 are making you reconsider getting a Ps5 then you never really wanted one to begin with.
Not everyone cares about Day 1. Personally, timed exclusives do nothing for me due to a backlog a mile long, quite happy to wait.
I'm sure many PC gamers feel this way also due to big libraries. Simply knowing that pillar franchises will come is sufficient to kick back and relax, not feeling like they need another system to not miss out.
So business wise it raises an eyebrow, but personally couldn't care - unless it spreads dev's thin and quality/design is impacted.
Do it tho'?So business wise it raises an eyebrow
I bought PS2-4, PSP, and Vita because they had games I couldn't get anywhere else. Right now with a gaming laptop I have no reason to get a PS5. And if the PS5 doesn't get the exclusives, why should I ever get one?
I think I'm clearly part of the base given I even actually bought a Vita.
It's not bad for business, and they're (PlayStation) not mainly a hardware company. They make the vast majority of their money via subscriptions, dlc, first party digital game sales, and cuts of third party digital games.I get it, it's a bad business for Sony to release games on PC same time as console, cause they're mainly a hardware company - and they actually make money off of the consoles they sell.
The amount of people in this thread that are clearly not capable of reading is...concerning.
Read it over and over again until you comprehend what this guy is saying.
IF he were saying "hurr durr PS3 games on PC, me no buy PS5" then sure, stupid clickbait bullshit.....buuuuut he's not, and it's a solid point.
It certainly makes the games feel less special and the whole 'exclusive' marketing has now been turned into a lie.
The feeling of 'being tricked' is not nice. The feeling of being lied to is not pleasant as a customer.
...buuuuut he's not, and it's a solid point.
We've got ourselves a READER! Oh, wait...Whatever you say, Matt.
We've got ourselves a READER! Oh, wait...
Let me guess, you're a Waffle House waitress???Points for a Bill Hicks reference but I'd put any amount of money that it was unintentional. Look Matt, just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they don't comprehend the inane point you are trying to make.
Let me guess, you're a Waffle House waitress???
The point that he was making was if you main a PC, you no longer have a reason to buy a Playstation for their exclusives. Is that inane? You can tell me after you fetch me some more flapjacks.
How so? Really? He is saying the PS5 sales will be affected...how so, Microsoft has no issues having the same game on both platforms ON THE SAME DAY. Like I said above you are either a PC gamer already or console gamer. OP assumes everyone just naturally has a high end gaming PC lying around so why would you waste on a PS5 when you already have a device at home. Newsflash: not everyone has a PC and most definitely not everyone has a high end PC, id even go as far to say that 70% people here still play at 1080 resolution instead of 4K on their monitors because they don't have the HW to run all these games. PC could have a timed exclusivity on new PS5 titles and id still not switch to a PC due to monetary entrance level and the fact i just want to plug n play and not brainstorm does my card support the shaders presented in this game and is my CPU powerful enough to have shadows on HIGH.
That's. The. Joke. You wouldn't go Waffle House to get flapjacks. I know it's a tough nut for you to crack but Waffle House sells waffles.
And as inane as it was, I think everyone understands the point you were making, Matt. If you can't understand the obvious fallacies with the argument, you should be less concerned other's reading comprehension and maybe look into some self improvement. I can recommend some books if you'd like.
That's. The. Joke.
There are no fallacies in what he was saying. He has no reason to buy Playstation consoles if their exclusives are coming to PC. Now apply that to people in general....there might be a few that do the same, lol.
But I know, reading is just so fucking hard to do.
I agree, PS4 owner will just continue onto PS5 at some point. It is acquiring the fence sitters on PC platforms that this impacts, as per article. Its not about pc gamers. Its about Playstation owners. Anyone seriously considering a Ps5 wouldn't be swayed because of this game of all others imo.
Now you tell me UC 5 and other new games are releasing day and date or even just a year after and I could see it swaying pc owners away from buying a Ps5.
The message to PC gamers is - you don't need a Sony console if you don't need to play our games day 1. The rest of the decision making and all the cost/benefit etc. is in the PC gamers hands.Do it tho'?
If games are released a year or two later on PC, the console owners who waited that long to buy the games, probably buys them secondhand or waiting for a major discount = not the supporting type.
Secondly, consoles are extreme value for money and the PCMR users are few in the grand scale - but they (obviously) has money to buy new games.
Sony doesn't give a fuck about consumers who doesn't want to consume. Their focus is first year sales - everything else is just icing on the cake - PC sales is the cherry on top.
Think how many people will not buy ps5 and learn the pain and suffering of pc gaming instead. Only for 1999usd. Maybe with a Gpu!His concern is that Sony will start doing day one releases, I guess. With their purchase of Nixxes, who knows how that's going to play out.
I doubt I would have bought a PS5 if that's their goal.
How so? Really?
If you main PC, and only buy a Playstation down the road for exclusives....why in the hell would you buy said Playstation if said exclusives will eventually hit PC? You wouldn't. Which is what this guy is saying, and I'm sure there are quite a few people that do exactly that.
If you mainly play on PC.. why would Sony really care?
That's the weird lack of logic to this idea that PC gaming is somehow going to destroy the Playstation "base"... you aren't really part of the "base" if you do the majority of your gaming on PC.
ps5 upgrade? like ps4 owners or a ps5 pro? because that's not happening for at least 1.5-2 years at the rate things are going, maybe more. It would be an asinine business move to do so.I hope PC only cats will try them. Uncharted 4 will look crazy on PC. Ps5 upgrade is needed now though.
Release killzone on pc and then perhaps we can get a collection at 4k 60fps on ps5. As long as the uncharted collection gets a 4k 60fps patch on ps5 I see no problem with releasing games on pc, in fact I welcome it as long as we get some upgrades. I think every PlayStation game on pc so far has.
Even worse it is a 5+ years old compilation of games which the most recent is around 10 years old.So why would I buy a ps5 if I just have to wait 10 years to play their games ...Well I know why I would since I'm not sure I will still be alive in 10 years for example.Well keep in mind this is a thread about 5+ year old games coming to PS5 lol, not "no exclusives."
Not that the word "base" is that important; but I've owned every Sony console too.. including PSP/Vita.. (hell I have 2 Vitas).. I don't consider myself part of their "base" because I've been PC gaming as my primary way to game my entire life.
If I don't buy a Playstation, and instead buy the games I was going to buy on PC anyways (as many of us PC gamers only buy exclusives).. what exactly have they lost? A small store cut?
They have a lot more to gain from PC gamers... who weren't buying their consoles, but now will buy their games.
Hell some of us will double dip.. might even buy MORE of their games as we prefer PC for a reason.
I don't think it's only about Uncharted, it's about Pc ports in general. If you know the games are coming at some point, why buying a PS5? Sony's games are mostly singleplayer and you don't miss anything if you play them 1-2 years later. The games don't get worse. Quite the contrary, you get patchet games (with more content) that run and look better. Also i guess he thinks it's just a matter of time till day1 releases or let's say 6-12 months timed exclusives. This article would have made more sense if the upcoming God of War was coming to PC same day as ps5.
Uncharted is not a ps5 system seller by any means. Seems like the writer is low-key mad that uncharted is coming to PC and it's his way of throwing a fit about it.

Seeing some of those set pieces powered by my RTX 3090-toting PC is extremely exciting.
On the other hand, my PC gaming backlog is so vast, I could happily play all the games I already own
There’s also the fact that while a growing number of Sony games are coming to PC, not all of them are. So, I may still need to invest in a PS5 if a killer app comes along.
