I thought it was up to 10 people (accounts) but on the same Xbox? Just being able to give the game to 10 people is pretty sweet.
You can't do that. You can give a game to a friend 'lending' only once.

It makes me sad how plausible this sounds, and a year ago we would have all laughed.I bet they actually use kinect to verify who you are and who your family members are.
Imagine if they use face recognition to verify who's tied to what system and what account
O_O
Holy shit so if you're at a friends house you can only play the game for a fucking hour?
What the fuck? Fuck you MS. That's just ridiculous. Holy shit.
lol. No
With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies.
* Up to 10 "members of your family".Give your family access to your entire games library anytime, anywhere: Xbox One will enable new forms of access for families. Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One. Just like today, a family member can play your copy of Forza Motorsport at a friend’s house. Only now, they will see not just Forza, but all of your shared games. You can always play your games, and any one of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given time.
This IS as bad as people have been saying it would be.Because it isnt as bad as gaf was making it out to be. Sony is probably going to take a similar route regarding DRM and the Xbone can still share games. It could have been much much worse.
This is exactly how I feel. I don't think it's wonderful but it won't affect me personally too much. For me it's literally all about the games in deciding which console to get this year.Highlights:
-10 family members can play any of my "shared" games on any console. :O. That's fuckin nuts (depending on what shared means)
-Day 1 digital copies. Usually go for retail but this is still cool as an option
-Anyone can play my games on my console. Expected. Sad that this had to be cleared up though
-I can store games on the cloud and play them wherever I sign into my account. That's pretty awesome.
-I don't need to swap discs to play different games. Pretty sick. I usually buy disc copies of games so now I can buy them and keep them on my shelf.
Lowlights:
-Game reselling is on a case by case basis it seems
-Giving games to friends thing is so bizarre.
Indifferent:
-Must be signed in at least once every 24 hours to play games. If my internet goes down, then I'm not playing my Xbox 360. This is really not a big deal for me at all. In fact, if requiring internet makes my gaming experience better in most games then I'm all for it.
This is just how it will affect me. I don't know how it will affect other people around the world.
Yep, fucking over consumers will ROCK. Don't these people realise that consumers don't like to be abused? The people saying 'fuck this' will heavily outweigh the few more dollars screwing consumers will bring in..
So can publishers force this kind of stuff on Sonys console? I mean that they say that they won't release games if it doesn't offer the same or similar options
Pretty much my position. 24 hour verification and used games only being a thing at "participating retailers" is bad.
Maybe we are to worried about real rights being taking away and not videogame rights lol. Don't buy the system. Problem solved.
I have a reliable connection.
I don't buy used.
I don't sell my games.
What do you think participating retailers are going to do when they take a trade in then, if they don't sell it on?Not stated anywhere.

cheap sales
How is this any different to what PS4 and Xbox One are offering?
But I'm pretty sure it constitutes the global PC gamers. Just look at the stats, there are usually 3-4 million players at any given time.Steam does not constitute the majority of global gamers you know...
Uh, Wii U? Has everyone forgotten that Wii U has none of this BS?

Highlights (lowlights?):
No renting, no loaning. No private sales (unless selling to someone who has been on your friends list for 30 days)
Console Checks in Every 24 hours
Trade-ins are up to the publisher and only at participating retailers
You can give a game to a friend only if they have been on your friends list for 30 days, and then it is stuck with them.
Up to 10 family members can play your games from any console at any time
Releasing the digital copy on the same day as the disc-one is awesome, the only thing im hoping for is that the pricing of the digital copy will be in line with the disc. As of today, the digital prices are sky-high and does not match the disc pricing. The same game on disc is 15 but the digital one is 60, and they don't seem to lower it even though it's 2 years old...
This is possibly the most reprehensible product in gaming history, and I won't claim to not view with some contempt anyone who buys one. For the sake of consumers, I hope to god that the #PS4NoDRM campaign actually accomplished something.
So it was not that bad after all
So basically, if microsoft turns off the servers when Xbox Two is out, then this entire generation of games is wiped out permanently?
Because it isnt as bad as gaf was making it out to be. Sony is probably going to take a similar route regarding DRM and the Xbone can still share games. It could have been much much worse.
Your XBONE game licenses expire when that happens. So basically, if microsoft turns off the servers when Xbox Two is out, then this entire generation of games is wiped out permanently?
Not stated anywhere.
Any fucks I had left for Xbone has gone out the Window.
Well no used games fees, which is a plus
The rest is bad IMO - especially for you guys touting GameStop as the bringer of all evils, as they will probably have even more power now private sales are stopped.
Also this...
"Loaning or renting games wont be available at launch, but we are exploring the possibilities with our partners."
But the PC platform still offers disc-based games. Its just that Steam is more orientated around DD. I still have trouble seeing the difference, because both consoles are transitioning to DD, what with the whole "buy it online and play instantly".
Stop for just a second and ask yourself this very logical question.
"Why did the terms have to change at all"?
Share with up to 10 people. Game. Set. Match. Dat inexpensive gaming.
1) Add 10 friends to a shared account
2) Each friend pays $6 for a new game
3) Share as needed
????
4) Profit?
I'm not buying this console though. Maybe in a few years.
i don't buy used games or sell my games and prefer digital content over discs. (same date is awesome, never buying a game on a disc again)
my internet connection very rarely goes out for over 24 hrs and it only happens with a power outage, and could always use my phone if i need the internet for the xbox. Also never travel with my home consoles.
the family sharing feature sounds awesome if it works outside of your local connection. If me and my brother can share our games easily even when we are in different parts of the US then it will be awesome.
basically, none of the online stuff or used stuff affects me and the bonuses for having this stuff tied to your account benefits me.
LOL at Kotaku comparing this to Steam. No way we see anything like Steam sales on XBone.
