So Chartzzzz just updated their "week's top-selling games at retail ranked by unit sales" chart through August 30th (the end of the August 2014 NPD Reporting Period), and they actually listed the following:

That figure is so ridiculously, hilariously wrong it's making me keel over with laughter.


Not even Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask....a three year old Layton game that launched back when the IP was much stronger...managed such a good launch.


The REAL sales of Professor Layton Vs. Ace Attorney were MUCH worse than what Chartz claimed. Just another example why people shouldn't take anything they say seriously.

Purchasing pan-European GfK data is extremely expensive, this is an English-language forum, and GfK ninjas are worse than NPD ninjas.

And we've had GfK Chart-Track leakers / other localised leakers but no pan-European ones.

There are people who visit this site and have access to the data, though.

It's also a consequence of data coverage.

NPD covers the USA retail market, which is huge and crucially important for many developers, publishers, retailers, etc.

Subscribing to GfK Chart-Track gives you the UK retail market, which is much smaller, relatively speaking.

So when you mix the fact that GAF is predominantly North-America based, with the reality that GfK Chart-Track data subscriptions are more niche for GAF's userbase, you get a smaller chance of GfK leakers.

And the ones who do leak might just give small hints once in a while because I know for a fact that GfK ninjas are vicious.

NPD and NeoGAF have a long history together so leaks on GAF are a bit more tolerated. GfK doesn't have that same kind of relationship with us.

October should be a good month for MS overall. Might actually get PR from their NPD, good shipments from Kinectless and Tier 2 launches from July-September, and release for Sunset/White bundle, plus marketing for CoD and Halo.

I am excited for sure.

too bad Microsoft pulled a Sony and combined 360+XB1, really annoying when they do that (at least Nintendo hasn't pulled that.....yet)
