So, all Bloodborne players who haven't played Souls before, how's it going?

Does parying works on every ennemies? There are some guys that seems to be unaffected by my shotgun shots.

I think you need to time it just right.

Also, for certain attacks, like the brick trolls when charging forward and then ending with an attack, you can't parry/stagger them while they're charging (I don't think, at least) but you can stagger them during the attack animation they end the charge with.

Hope that makes sense.

Also, you did pretty well during the main phase of the Father G fight, especially if you're a new player to the franchise. Avoiding his beast form is probably cheating yourself out of what the usual level of challenge -- for most bosses -- is, but it's neat to see you were able to force him to do the blunderbuss attack on a loop, because of your relative position, but you were close enough to him to avoid it hitting you.

Never played any Souls games. Started with Saw Cleaver (which is still the best weapon for me at +3).

I beat Cleric Beast in my first try (had seen alot of demos, so I knew what to do). Killed Father G in my 2nd try (tiny music box didnt help at all, all it did was angered him for a 2 seconds of stun). Beat the 2 hunters in the Old Yarhnam. One on the tower gave me problems, but yesterday I got him too.

Now its the
Blood Starved Beast. the third phase is giving me problems but the worse part is his Hug with OSK..
that is a bs move which has killed me twice. I have died to him for 4-5 times now. I have used all my
Firepapers
, I have 2 Blood Vials left with zero Blood Echoes and molotovs. The bait doesnt work very well either.

Any advice on the boss or where to farm Vials and Echoes? I have yet to summon a player/npc for help.. I really wanted to beat the game without it but If the 3rd boss is such a pain.. I doubt it is going to happen.

Edit: Can anyone tell me If I should use Saw Spear +3 or Saw Cleaver +3. Acc. to teh stats Cleaver has better attk.

Anything humanoid and within a certain size can be parried from what I've seen.

Other enemies have other ways of beginning a visceral attack, whether via charge attacks or just hitting the right parts at the right time.

You can go back to Central Yarnham and farm the brick trolls (<15s from the torch if you have the left-most gate open) fairly reliably for 2-6 Vials in less than a minute or two if you kill them both with visceral attacks. They start to drop Shining Coins if you farm them in the same spot over and over, I believe, so go kill the other brick/stump trolls in CY and you should stock up on Vials fairly quickly.

CY is also a great place to stock up on QS Bullets from the riflemen enemies in the area as well.

Also, if you're still fairly low level, say <30, a good run on CY can net you 5K-10K Echoes, earning you a level or two fairly easily.

The point of my post was that the unseen village is a welcome(but frustrating) difficulty spike. Just got taken out by that
big, blue zig-zagging laser. Plus respawning enemies? Ugh.
.

Super duper frustrating area, for sure! Lol I'm just saying... wait till it gets worse :p

Wearing Father Gascoigne's set helped a lot on the 3rd phase of that boss IMO. Best spot to farm echoes at that point is to kill all 5 wolves in that area.

Thank you!. Will try that when I get home.

Yup, I just blast through there and you get a lot of stuff and you shouldn't die, just don't get careless really.

No clues, it just happenend like that. I'm glad it did too, fuck that guy.

No worries man. Was just wondering if it was some glitch. Maybe you can loop him into that so he doesn't transform and just constantly shoots? Kinda what to start a new character and see if I can do that now lol.

no point. Have you beaten VA yet? If so you
need to head from the grand cathedral all the way down the road to the circular square with the 2 giants wielding axes. Go right there, then left into a building, down the stairs and through a password-gate to enter the next area.

BSB's ain't that bad until he starts poisoning you, which is what kills me.
Is it easy to riposte him?

I find it quite difficult personally. When you are right up in his grill, he will do a short swipe with his right arm (left as you look at him) where he doesn't charge forward. It has an obvious windup and is pretty easy to riposte, but he seems to do this less and less as the fight goes on. You can't parry the start of his charge attack, and I havent successfully parried his left- handed attack. If he raises both arms just get the fuck outta there or he will chow down on you.

Personally found the easiest way is to equip the
Black Church set
to counteract the passive poison in the last stage, and just evade left and forward under his attacks, watch out for any attacks that reach further round his body (the left handed swipe combo ends with a hit that reaches around his right side) and hit his back with a charged R2 while he is finishing the attack animation. Should stagger, then you can get a visceral on his ass ( literally and figuratively). Good luck!

I am losing patience and not having fun anymore with this game. :(
I am now bored as I dominate the entire area I can roam (everything until father gascoigne). Trolls are systematically eviscerated. No enemy really poses major trouble, except the werewolves, and even those I can take care of fairly easily. Well, except that giant pig that I always engage from behind, but seems too strong for frontal assault for now. I enjoy fighting those tall, skinny, spear-carrying weirdoes.

But I. cannot. kill. this motherfucker. I can't. I think at this point it's trauma, because I used to be able to get to beast form pretty easily (back when I didn't realize he had two 'human' forms, but now I have problem getting past the second form (I can not figure out for the life of me the timing for parrying his longaxe attacks. I just try to parry pathetically, and get axed in the face). Sometimes I get the parry but i got axed anyway, so I can't even get the attack in. Often I'll get parries, and the visceral attack won't connect. Either I am too far, or by the time i get close and release the left stick it's too late. I got to the beast form a couple of times, got two visceral attacks in, but at my level/strenght, it gets him to a sliver of health away from dying, but then I die (and only my wife's look of disapproval prevented me from throwing the ps4 out of the window)
I went from a stockpile of tons of bullets and health vials, to 0 vials, 0 bullets (and while in theory i could beat father G without vials, doing it without bullets sounds like madness), and 0 echoes. And it's getting more pathetic as I try to rush and engage it with two vials and 5 bullets obtained from blood sacrifice, b/c I can't be bothered with roaming the stupid fucking city for a few bullets (I know 4 of them can easily be obtained from the wheelchair dude)
Given the gun does pathetic damage and is essentially the parry, I really wish they'd replenish the bullets when you resurrect.
I think I'll just stop. This stopped being interesting to me hours ago.
None of what I can read on this thread or online seems to help. The beast seems somewhat ok to parry, but is very unforgiving for mistakes. I run into motherfucking tombstones all the time.
Back to hotline miami 2 in hard mode, which somehow frustrates me much less. I'd do the boat level fifty times in a row rather than face that fucking asshole.

I'm not a Souls veteran, and Father G wasn't that hard. It took me a handful of tries before I beat him with my +2 Threaded Cane and molotovs. I kept him at bay between a bunch of headstones and a tree. Every once in a while I let him charge at me, used a gun to parry his attack, followed by a visceral strike. It took four strikes to get to his third form. During the final phase I sprinted to the upper section, where I used two molotovs to finish him. I noticed, that it's better to stay by the fence, so he won't go forward after the stairs. It was easier to hit him with the molotovs that way, and it prevented him from doing the jumping strike. If you don't manage to hit him with two molotovs right away, just sprint down from the opening in the opposing end, and from there to the stairs again.

He managed to hit me a couple of times during the first two phases, but it wasn't enough to down me. If you get killed very easily during the fight, maybe you should level up your stats, particularly vitality. It wouldn't hurt to increase the offensive stats and weapon either.

Don't get all the people saying they're out of vials, maybe i'm just being really picky about how much i use them, but i've had 99 of them in stock since trying to beat father g for like 20 times. And now while trying VA i've maxed out my bullets as well..Always happens to me in RPG's, i tend to underuse items i guess.

Do you have to kill the sewer pig to get to father G?

No - getting to the pig is completely optional. If you are facing the tunnel with the pig, go up the ladder to the right of the entrance and across the bridge to father g. Across the bridge is another ladder to the left that brings you down behind the pig if you do want to kill him.

Beat the Cleric Beast first go, I literally fell to the floor in joyful sobbing (like, relief/celebratory sobbing).... such a brilliant feeling.

Here is the video of my glorious first Souls Boss Fight!

Thought I was going to Beat Father Gascgoine on second go (I had attempted him a while ago when I accidently found him before Cleric), but came a sliver away from it..... this game has me, big time.

Going to have a strong coffee (it's 11pm here in NZ), then hit the Father until he drops.

On a side note, I LOVE the level design of this game... small touches like the elevator shortcuts becoming available after each boss... it really makes you appreciate the layout/feel of the whole thing.

Are all Souls games like this? Wondrous level design with amazing and challenging gameplay? BioWare may have competition with From Software as my fave dev soon.. yikes!

you will burn through your stocks later on really fast, unles syou keep beating all bosses in one go lol. I also had full stocks until like 4 or 5 bosses in

What sucks is getting lost, not knowing what to do.
Same as the other games. You just wander around after you've been to enough places, trying to find a door or a way to go somewhere else.
Its irritating.

I was out of vials few times in the beginning, but I nearly maxed them out after I did few farming rounds in the Central Yarnaham. You don't get many bullets in the Old Yarnaham though, so now I'm somewhat short of them. I'll have to return to the old farming route to collect more of them the next time.

Absolutely. Some moreso, some less, however. But opening shortcuts is a key principle in all of the Souls games.

Dark Souls 1 arguably is the pinnacle of the series when it comes to world design (including Bloodborne, in my opinion).

Spawn at the tomb of odeon lamp where you fought Father G. Head down the stairs towards central Yarnham and kill the two weird tall dudes by sneaking up on them and visceral hitting them. Keep going towards central Yarnham and you will see the mob killed by the boulder. Kill the troll and shield guy. Head down the ladder and sneak up on the pig from behind. Backstabbing him will give you an insta kill. Go back up the ladder, cross the bridge and up the elevator to the area with the 2 trolls. Parry kill them and just walk up to the central Yarnham lamp. This run will net you at least 10 vials and 5000 echoes. Don't waste any vials healing if you get hit. There are plenty of lamps and you can always get them back.

Yes, try Dark Souls 1 especially. It has the best map design of them all imo :p
