HITMAN |Beta Thread| The original assassin. [PS4+PC]

Since you can't turn off the entire HUD, I made a HUD toggle with 3Dmigoto:

(Probably doesn't work with AMD cards)

Even weirder. The high option for textures is geryed out in the launcher, but when you start the game, the textures are set to low and this is the only option available ingame.

Uh.. The game refuses to launch on my primary monitor (even though by default it is set to the right one). It resets the settings every time it launches as well.

Edit: Had to press Win+shift+arrow to force it to change screen, then alt+enter for fullscreen. Couldn't get it to start on my primary no matter what I did.

Finished my first go at the Beta. Runs and plays really well, some great sandbox gameplay here to boot. Have to work from home today but will put some time in messing with all the opportunities for sure.

The frame-rate is all over the place and I'm pretty sure it's the amount of NPCs. Is there a way to lock it at 30fps all together? I'd rather have one fixed point than it fluctuating this much. At average I get about 45 fps on 1080p with High settings (except for Shadow Resolution which is set at Medium), but as soon as you look at the crowd it nosedives to lower thirties and sometimes upper twenties.

As for the actual gameplay from the simulation area, it's pretty good. Kinda small though, but obviously I assume it opens up much more with new and bigger areas as you progress.

Finished the tutorial, some stuttering ever now and then but ran pretty fine for the most part. Went down a bit under 60 at times with shadow and object detail bumped down one step.

Getting quite a lot of screen tearing as well, which is something I'm not very used to with this 144Hz monitor.

Quote for codes as they are hidden in email tags. And let people know if you take them please.

Thanks man, interested to see how it performs on the PC before going ahead with the console version.

Is there any other way you can get your beta key?

I got the key to input in the site from Amazon.com, input it and they sent me a confirmation they'd send the key near beta release. I've received no such thing, other than them spamming me yesterday with the same confirmation email about 8 times.

I don't see why this Hitman is very demanding game. There have been much betetr looking games and and less demanding.

I'm sure a lot of people want to wipe the taste of absolution from their palette

Blood Money was my first Hitman game and it was glorious.

So much in fact that i pre-ordered absolution only to find out that absolution did not have the feel of blood money and i never even finished it.

The devs have gone on record to say this new hitman game was gonna be more in the vein of blood money.

One of those emails should've had your code as well something like "Here's your Steam key!"

everything on low or turned off. game actually runs and is playable but a bit stuttery (don't have an fps counter on but guesstimating 20-25fps-ish?!?)

overall quite happy considering the min requirements :D

your post about gameplay quality makes no sense considering the quote about PC performance you're using there.^^

Hooboy, hope this game is much more optimized come March and I cannot get used to the keyboard bindings. I'd feel it would be much easier and simple if they had the same system as Blood Money where you choose from a list of actions rather than have a binding for every action.

So is the beta a part of the full game, or something extra? My pc is kind of finnicky with betas and I'd rather wait for the full game and potential fixes.

Nope. They were all the exact same.

"Thank you for registering for the HITMAN beta

Welcome to the Hitman Beta! The Beta hasn't started yet, but as soon as it does, we'll send you a personal, exclusive beta access key for Steam and you'll be ready to enter a world of assassination! Thanks for preordering!

Yes, it's part of the full game. It's the Prologue which is half of Episode 1.

You should try contacting SE support then. That's quite odd.

Yes. The beta is the prologue to the main game.

Wait till the end of the year for the retail release if you are looking for the most fixes. Early Access starts in March. lol.

Word, I got the game with the price error, so its no sweat off my back, I just won't DL the beta.

Quote me for my 2 beta codes.

Is mouse wheel supposed to cycle weapons? Because it doesn't do anything for me.

Same, I keep going to the inventory and selecting manually.

Anyway, I only played the very first tutorial part but I'm already loving the approach there. Even though the very first kill is very clearly prescribed, it lets you play around with everything and doesn't wall you off. Though it seems you cannot go off the set method for taking him out in the first run. For example, I tried taking out the cop right at the start in the guard house but I had nothing to distract the others with (I think?) so they always heard me.

Either way, already loving this.

Weird PC issue, after changing my graphics options in-game, the internal render resolution is quite low. Even when the resolution is set to my monitor's native, everything's jaggy and aliased.

Do you actually get beta codes for this game? I though you automatically had the beta in your library if you pre-order. I didn't think there were codes to give away.

If you got it from an online retailer, they'll send you a code which you need to redeem from the Hitman site. If you got it from Steam, then it'd be automatically added to your library.

This plays so fucking well. The blend of Absolution and the older games is perfect. I am on fucking board with this. Having a lot of fun just poking around the levels and seeing how the systems have been tweaked. The disguise mechanic is a good middle ground between Blood Money's piss easy detection systems and Absolution's overkill difficulty that made disguises useless. Can't wait to play a full proper level.

I think I see what the RPS article was mentioning. So do scripted events only happen once you get close? In the yacht tutorial, I had played a bomb in the room your target goes to, and was waiting in the deck below to blow it. Waiting, waiting, target never walked over. It wasn't till I got close enough that the conversation between him and his contact happened and they moved to the room.

For the tutorial, this is probably the case. For the Freeform mission, you just need to be in the vicinity for their scrips to activate. It would be very helpful if the map updated in real time so you could make speedy exits.

Oh really? That's kind of disappointing that you have to be in the vicinity for things to happen

I ended up just registering the second code Amazon sent me, since they sent me two for some bizarre reason. This time I actually got a key.

In the FAQ it says to connect your game to the square enix account to participate in the survey later, where in the beta do you actually do that? I'm not seeing anything in the menus.

Or is it automatic because I've linked up my Steam with their stuff before?

There were also complaints about the vicinity issue in the Paris mission, unfortunately. Hopefully they'll strike a good balance or get rid of it come retail release.

Some people have been getting survey emails after the beta ended* and I don't think the in game SEM link actually works (it's the first screen in menu after the game loads).

I can understand the desire for players to be present when important events are happening, or to prevent the issue of all the actors going through the same cycles over and over again. Meetings repeating, bathroom trips repeating, isolated windows repeating over and over for the sake of the player's convenience. So on one hand, it makes sense and fixes something silly from the old games. However, there should be a way to run the clock forward, so to speak, by doing other things. Traversing into certain areas, obtaining certain items, or getting certain disguises. It shouldn't all depend on you being directly by the NPCs.

Still, doesn't it feel good that the biggest collective issue with Hitman as a game is this matter of AI routines and scripting? That's a pretty minor detail compared to the Absolution speculating of "Is this even a fucking Hitman game?"
