Just saw the CM Punk "fight" and that was just sad, waiting and training so long to only throw about 3 punches and get a beatdown.

Never liked Punk and don't see the day where I actually like him. He's a legit douchebag and had more than a slice of humble pie... he ate the whole thing!

I don't fuck with WWE so I don't understand all the hate towards this guy. Seems like a well spoken and intelligent human being. Dude got his ass kicked and looked miserable afterwards, lowkey felt bad for him.

Gall is gonna demolish Sage and in retrospect will make CM Punk still look awful.....

But whatever.. dude got a big pay day, found something he finds rewarding regardless if he ever fights again and im guessing he still is gonna wanna train at Dukes no matter what.

oh btw...the way Edmond carries himself makes it easy to see why Rousey is such a salty bitch.

Her mom is right, that dude is scum. Werdum probably already knew that and had a reason to push kick that d bag when he was coming at him.

I decided to take a pass on this event and I'm partly glad and partly sad. Sounds like I missed a shitshow of an event but an entertaining shitshow.

Plus all the credits in the world for Punk being a draw. Certainly the most I've ever been interested in MMA and I'll probably switch off again now.

Same here, I'm not a MMA fan but bought the Lesnar/Punk PPV's being curious how they'd do. Don't see myself paying and staying up super late for future events. Sunday is kind of messed up afterwards. I doubt I'd even pay to watch Brock again.

Punk refused to even shake Gall's hand during the weigh in and after he lost he couldn't stop giving his motivational speech to him, WTF.

The thing that scares me about MMA is that the guy spent two years worth of working hours on training and he couldn't even throw a punch. I'm not expecting a victory but at least good form and execution, and he just flat out sucked on everything. How could that be?

For wrestling fans: this reminds me of his Macho Man elbow drop, he gave it a million times and it looked like shit in all of them.

I wonder if the issue with Gall is now that he has some notoriety from this fight, he gets put in more major matches on main cards right away, when he really should still only be doing prelims in UFC, given he's only a rookie and his two UFC fights were against cans.

theres fights where legit top 10 guys in their division literally get completely worked by another fighter so its surprising that Punk got worked by a far more experienced dude?

good form and execution wont be executed if youre fighting a dude that is a legitimate UFC fighter which is what Gall probably ends up showing he is.

Do you need to fight a cripple to be allowed to throw a proper punch? It's like that Ronda Rousey gif throwing "I want to fracture my wrist ahooooy" loose punches in the air.

I remember (well, maybe somebody else did) how Brock Lesnar tapped in his first UFC match, and the match was 44 seconds shorter than Punk's. Technically, this means Punk is 133% better than Brock Lesnar.

Punk did have Brock beat with the GTS before Heyman interrupted the pin. Took interference and an F5 on the steel chair to take Punk out.

Yeah, it is possible to become a fighter at 36, but he doesn't have the athleticism from what he's shown. I admire him for trying, and exposing himself to what was likely going to be a beating. I don't take any pleasure at seeing him fail.

Hindsight 20 20 punk should have gone up against a striker.

Punk vs Sage would have been the match to book.

You might have more chance to get lucky and connect with a random wild swing against a striker I guess, but if you're going to lose anyway you're probably better off doing so against a grappler where you'll get choked out or submitted instead of getting pummeled and take way more damage :p

I think skill and age were both factors in the Punk/Gall match. Punk looked very old and tired. The punches he threw didn't have any impact whatsoever, if you compare it with the first hits Gall threw when he took control on the ground, rocked Punk good. Gall came out swinging and went straight for the kill.
Kudos though to Punk for fighting off Gall as long as he did on the ground, after the takedown I expected a swifter finish. Guess the two years of training was good for something.

Imagine if Punk actually would have fought even earlier, as was the plan before the injury etc. That would have been over even quicker.
Now that he got that out of his system, MMA clearly isn't his cup of tea, at least not on this level.

Any one else think Punk should be stopped for his own health?

Well even Dana White hinted at that already when he said that Punk should not fight in the UFC next time.

He beat a can. Aside from being someone whose name you remember, he is not really anything, yet. Let him fight some actual fighters first and we will see.
Are you saying CM Punk against some other figures would still lose? I feel like Gall is the real deal, that take down and punch combo BREH

Too fuckin early on a Sunday morning for me to try and figure out this Scott Steiner math.

Aiii

So not worth it

Pretty much, he would have trouble with pretty much any pro fighter.

That is nothing against Gall, who might be very good indeed, but it is impossible to say from his fights with Michael Jackson and CM Punk if he is good enough to hang with the top 10 welterweights.

This whole CM Punk saga just reminds me of that episode of Friends with Jon Favreau

Anyway, it was a fun PPV and I was secretly rooting to Punk to surprise everyone, but the end result was expected. He should just fight Rousey next and go full carny and break buyrate records
