UFC 203 CM Punk vs Mickey Gall |OT| Like Mussolini and Kennedy

At least he followed through. He did the training, he got the fight, he couldn't win but at least he knows now that he's not cut out for MMA. And there's nothing wrong with that. I'm sure he got paid, he's good with money so he doesn't have to work if he doesn't want to. He can still do whatever he wants, got out without a serious injury. He did all this while a chorus of people were talking him down and giving him shit for wanting to pursue something he was passionate about.

I'd like to see him come back to wrestling, I'm sure he could have many years left there.

"He took someone's spot"
UFC is a business. Punk is a draw. The end.

Marvel

could never
Went as I thought but like I said in WrassleGAF, feel for the guy. Clearly has a deep passion for MMA.

I really wasn't expecting those tears during his post match conference.

lol of course they would

I don't think so. His drawing power took a massive hit last night. He was absolutely demolished.

His entire wrestling Gimmick of being straight edge and still doing great things?

How could e ever cut a serious promo gain without some midcarder nonchalantly saying he was tapped in seconds with no offense after years of training?

im really curious of the buy rates for this card. obviously no indication of much at all but this thread has like 15 more pages than 202 thread. Wonder how fascinating this carny match was to average audience

He actually thought he could win. Poor guy. This is what happens when you pay your coaches hundreds of thousands of dollars and they're forced to baby you and act like you have what it takes to keep the gravy train rolling.

I'd tap after the first one

Yeah, he had fighting spirit to stay in there. Like it was clearly over early, but he kept trying to fight out until he got put in the choke. He needs to get on a hgh regimen like the other fighters if he wants to be able to train correctly for the next one.

No, he fought a heavyweight Olympic medalist judoka who also had professional kickboxing experience. He had a poor MMA career but he had credentials.

and it was a last minute replacement. He was supposed to fight 7'2 kickbower Choi Hong-Man before it was discovered he had a tumor.

I didn't have high hopes for the guy but i damn sure didn't think he'd come out on the other side looking like this. Got the cauliflower ear and errrythang. Got damn.

I'm sure it's answered in the thread but but how long did the fight last?

A little more than 2mn

I have mixed feelings on whether I want there to be a next one or not.

If there is a next one, get him to fight the guy Gall beat quicker than Punk.

Beginning my re watch right now on the PS4 live events viewer. By the way, the replay is working fine for this fight, but was entirely broken for me during 202. Did anyone else experience this?

I wonder if the UFC turned the replay off in order to limit piracy. Maybe my internet was fucked up? They probably won't put that fight out on fight pass until they need to promote the third fight (assuming Mac steps up). I'm just a little suspicious - I paid money and was supposed to have that fight for 24 hours after all.

I'd give him another chance. One more fight in UFC. If he loses that ship him to Bellator. The problem is he's slow, doesn't have power, old, and can't block takedowns. There is no positives to the guy you could go to in a fight.

Good lord, wrestle-gaf is hard as fuck on Punk. I thought you all liked this guy?

His post fight press conference is sad, dude really truly wanted to be there.
I like him. Always will. But it was always clear this is what was going to happen. I just want him to come back home where he belongs. In a wrestling ring. The day his music hits once again in a WWE ring is a day the roof comes off the arena.

So are Rock and Brock. Didn't stop Punk from complaining about them taking his spot when he was in the WWE.

As for the reaction Punk is getting, the guy has a fairly polarizing personality, so I'm sure plenty of people disliked him from the jump, but Mickey Gall touched on it in his post fight presser, privelage can rub people the wrong way, and this entire endeavor for Punk screamed privelage. It would be like if the MLB orchestrated it so that Tim Tebow went straight to the majors and his first game was in the playoffs. People would laugh their asses off at him as he pathetically struck out every at bat because they know he didn't deserve to be there

He looks like a Tekken 7 joke character.

Punk took that beating like a champ! He was still trying to maneuver while being punch in the back/front/side of the head.

I'll mark out to Punk if he ever came back to WWE.

That punch was so telegraphed, even if he connected that he would make no damage at all

Besides the fact that wrestling ain't real so you could just have them never say that, Punk took hits most people in the wrestling business wouldn't be able to take one of. A 37 year old man with 20 years of wrestling mileage on him took a match because it was his dream and he loved himself enough to chase it for two years after the BIGGEST MMA promotion offered him a three fight deal. That's a mentally and physically tough motherfucker, anyone denying that is either a dick or plainly stupid.

That strike right there is probably the best example of why he shouldn't have been in there. It's not how sloppy the punch looks, it's his body language. Anyone else in the UFC would've on instict began trying to defend the takedown--while Punk looks and has to think "oh shit I need to defend that" before it's too late.

You really nailed it here. I guess I was just surprised how much wrestle-gaf was mocking him, I expect it from MMA-gaf. But I figured wrestle-gaf would be more supportive.

But yeah, what you said makes a lot of sense.

They should have booked Punk against some old legend like Shamrock, why they put him against a young lion is ridiculous

I'm pretty certain Ken would've beat him.
