Cyberpunk 2077 - Review Thread

People said that Days Gone was great but riddled with bugs... so I waited. The game got updates on my ps4 every week for a year. On patch number 63 this year I finally decided to play it...
Not only it was absolutely medicore open world grind game with bad story and characters but by the end of the game it ran like trash, textures stopped loading and it was hitching all the time
I kinda still want to revisit it when I get ps5...
As for Witcher 3? That shit was unplayable for me due to bad controls but I struggled through and love it. I ran into every bush and door frame on the way though

I can see how you'd think its as good, definitely, and although I dont think its superior I understand why many people think that as well. Its probably because the image is sharpened.
So if you sharpened the native res image a small amount in the DS comparison I think it would look better to your eyes than the DLSS image. I understand why people think the small quality tradeoff in IQ is wel worth it for the absolutely giant increase in framerate, but its not for me, I usually favour IQ over framerate (It still needs to be stable though obviously) except in cases like racing games, fpses, "devil may cry-like" games where control and timing are very important or where you move the camera manually very fast a lot of the time.
Having perfect IQ (no aliasing, within reason, or other artifacts from reconstruction/ML) is more important to me than 30 vs. 60, or 60 vs. 120 fps because better framerate doesn't make me appreciate the environments or small details I wouldn't otherwise have seen. I know that you see more frames of the animation in the game and that could be really important if everything is moving really fast, like in Doom for example, but thats often covered under the exceptions I made above. If I let my eyes get used to 30fps then after a while I don't even notice theres that much more stutter, same as when I watch a film at 24fps.
Don't really want to delve into reviews too much due to possible spoilers. But is there any information regarding next gen performance? Have the choice to go for ps5 or xsx, but rather go ps5. Just worried that backward compatibility mode will be weaker on ps5 despite parity in performances in compatible next gen games that have been seen so far.

I'm not seeing perks that would push me to make different builds.
I mean stuff like increasing rifle damage by 9% is just worthless to me
It was a bit ropey at launch. They put a *lot* of work in to it since then.
CDPRs whole bit has basically been above and beyond effort with their already released games.

I played it earlier this year. 80 hours total. I loved the world and narrative, but everything else was sloppy. Dialogue would cut out sometimes, combat enemies spasming out, etc.. here is an example I got first hand of the sloppiness

Yup CDRP make shitshow quality games that take about half a year for them to unfuck, and even in that process they end up fucking some aspects they've previously fixed.
Hyperbolic reviewers that don't care about fucking their readers with a buggy shitshow put the games on the highest pedestals they can find to bolster sales, and then the fanbois of said product tell the people suffering from all the bugs that they're wrong or stupid because X number of media outlets didn't mention said bugs. The review sites keep their AD revenue from the company and the company makes their sales with vague promises to fix all the bugs in their game, the consumer gets a bucket full of slop and has to enjoy it as is.

Unfortunately, people are going to (already are, actually) give the game a pass for bugs. Which is fine, cool, but, like you said, it bothers me that other games got decked negatively for bugs but this does not. It is what it is. Will see how bad the bugs are come launch day.

What's even worse is it sets a bad precedent for massive day one patches to supposedly fix everything (even though people like skillup said that's impossible for this). Like it'll literally be unplayable for people without wifi.

I'm guessing no console review code means the console versions are significantly compromised versions of the game and would have reviewed significantly worse. From the leaked video I've seen of console gameplay, the visuals are not very good at all. I'm glad I have a good PC but they really should have just made this a next gen game and waited for release until the middle of next year. Would have saved some crunch and a lot of bugs. Also would have saved them from their big game being played on really old tech.

The irony is the mods there act like the thought police constantly banning people for their thoughts and opinions and not actually for breaking any rules.
For a place apparently safe for those that are different to the norm it's not very safe for people with different opinions to their own.
Glad the game is reviewing well, would have bought it anyway. Those couple of low scores scream of clickbait, surprised by GameSpot as it used to be respected, clearly not anymore.

It’s all based on one ad? Have you played the game? Cause if not, I don’t think you are in a very strong position to boil down all the problems this reviewer has with the game in regards to trans issues to a singular ad in the game. They’ve actually played the game, mind you.
they are likely playing the game from a skewed and biased perspective yes, but it is wholly possible and even likely IMO that there are other areas of the game we haven’t seen yet that are extensions of the issues some people have with that ad

No, you can look at it as a piece of dystopian fiction set in the year 2077, based on Mike Pondsmith's take on the cyberpunk genre.
The game is not trying to endorse a certain kind of society. When the game depicts, hypothetically speaking, racism it is not endorsing racism. If the game has a stereotypical Latino character, the game is not making the claim Latinos are like that. And so on and so forth.

The game looks and runs good on the PS5 based on the leaks i saw
