Huge downgrade in reflection quality and skybox detail.

The opposite… these pics are not the game we have in retail where the quality improved.

Wait a minute,i can't get the best version of any weapon if i don't play the game 2 times?! Or i got that wrong? What is exactly the challenge mode?!
That's how its always been. You have to use the weapons a lot to get them fully upgraded and some of the latter weapons simply dont have enough time to level up fully. You should be able to level up a weapon if you use it exclusively in one playthrough but if you are switching weapons all the time, it will take you 2 full playthroughs to see them all leveled up.

Resistance 3 had the same system. It made NG+ way more fun because you had these insane Alt fire modes and perks that did AoE attacks which helped manage enemies on harder difficulty modes.

Does every game have to be filled to reach 40+ hours? Honestly, I'm all for shorter, tighter games with more meaningful, carefully crafted content. I have way too much that I want to play, and in most cases, I'd be happy with 20 hours tops. Of course, notable exceptions to this where the game is longer but actually does have meaningful content throughout, Persona 5 Royal, for example, comes to mind.
Damn near every game should be half as long as they are in my opinion. Quality over quantity every day for me.

This is fair and a good way to encourage replayability. I respect it. Hope my copy arrives Thursday - game is looking great.

I might not be a fan of simple repetitive game but Demons Souls surely got a competitor when it comes to graphics. the detail wow.
Demons Souls was a no brainer 60fps choice but here high quality mode seems good choice.
Why am I hyping myself for graphics... I will probably hate this :p

Great review!
Although the game looks like the simplest type of game. run and gun.... repetitive probably.
Is it better than 2016 when it comes to core gameplay? I got bored of 2016 game quickly.
Really 70 usd for simple run and gun repetitive action is questionable (90 usd where I live yikes)
It is, in some ways very much that. Thanks for the support folks the new ways of handling and testing sound are in here a bit but also will be backed up in later reviews with some stuff that's crazy cool.
As for the game. its good. But I feel a huge number of people will be into the graphics and not so much realizing that, especially later, it can get a bit one note

I would be hard pressed to say "best versions"

That probably sounded way cooler in your head than it actually does.
I can't tell if this is a Hired Gun joke, a Cyberpunk joke or a joke about the person waiting for 30 bucks.

I find this to be the case for most games. How did you feel about the game's length? Did it overstay its welcome at all? I haven't watched your review yet so I apologize if you've covered that in there. I will though. Love your stuff.

It was fine when it comes to length. I do feel that in the first half the game takes control a lot during the coolest rift moments, then the other times the rifts are a bit more...like teleport in any game you have seen before. Later on it gets better.
I would say the ending later areas got one note because the worlds and locations aren't as explorable as I would like and enemy variety is not where I wanted it.
I think as a graphics piece you will see a lot of folks just freaking out(well worth it). As a game its a bit less laudable.

Oh ok, it's not a fixed imposition but more about wat you decide to power up in the first run, i can live with that, everyone has their favourite 3-4 weapons and i vaguely remember of having some weapon maxed out in the last games.

I never play these types of games (or the majority really) more than once.

It's more than just that in NG+, there are upgraded versions available for purchase (again, like in prior games).

Yeah, I think with the R&C formula, a little bit goes a long way. The vast majority of the fun is goofing around with all the different weapons and leveling them all up. There isn’t a whole lot of skill or complexity to these games. I’m kinda glad to hear this game is around 15 hours as it could easily overstay its welcome if it lasted any longer.

Maybe its just me, but I always thought this game looked really really pretty (like Zelda botw) but never stand atop your table and screeeam Good.

Perhaps need to see this in action with all the minute details whatnot.

I just mean that if you got through the main game, the weapons are fine and the tacked-on requirement of the challenging stuff is only going to reward very specific people.

The 2016 game looked like rainbow puke any time you panned the camera. I'm playing this at 60 fps all day every day. Maybe use 30 fps mode for photo mode at best.
Yep, there is no way in hell that i'm gonna play this one at 30 fps, unless the 60 frame mode is some unstable shitshow.

Do we have news about how stable the 60 frames are? More like returnal or more like morales or demons?!

Got it, if i may ask, In your humble opinion, is the game still piss easy even on hard like the old ones?!

Just like ratchet ps4 unfortunately. Your review certainly hinted at that, with the added bonus of mentioning a "classical" kind of arsenal

Too bad, will still sell like crazy as far as next Gen graphics are concerned and the good marketing around it. At least the takes on this game down in time won't be as ridiculous as those about the order and driveclub

Noticing in lots of reviews that people are saying the game is great(!) but disappointed that it feels like a R&C game(??). Seriously, the bulk of large outlet reviewers are just dumb beyond reason. How large must your ego be to rate a game highly, commend it, but then say a negative aspect of the game is that it plays too much like itself...

Want something different but colorful like R&C? Go play Biomutant! Oh wait, reviewers shit all over that game.

Stoked for everyone who gets to play this, I'll be avoiding spoilers for the next 12-24 months, lol.

Ya it is very easy overall. BUT on the top 2-3 difficulties the game cranks the enemies aggressiveness which actually makes it challenging. As some are using stasis weapons and such

Thats very rarely a review thing. That is also right in coverage paperwork or, trailers, and so forth that make it state that huge changes occur due to the rift system and such. I mean I get it but its not like magically they haven't driven the expectation to a level that is questionable.

I didn't follow preview coverage extensively so I can't really comment if new features were hyped. To me it just seemed like they were promoting the speed of the SSD for environment changes.

I will say, I like your reviews though from what I've seen, you're the ACG guy right?

There are another 2-3 difficulty mode after hard? Are they unlocked in the first run?

Thanks.

Yea this is just great. Haven't put much thought into this game because I didn't think I'd have a PS5 before this came out.

Read a bit of that IGN review that's good enough. Media blackout now.

12-16 hours or what ever is perfect for me. Might even go for the NG+.

This series is like comfort food to me. Nice easy game with a little challenges lots of heart and just plain old fun. Characters are great. Excited to see what they've done to some in different dimensions. An actual heroic qwark? Nafarious that isn't a joke? Yea I'm interested.
