Before we get on the whole conspiracy theory about press not wanting to touch this.

I don't expect them to report on this until there is an official police investigation or Sony decide to fire him for 'some reason'.
Right, because the press always fact check.

I am not making the claim that this is something new. I am just theorizing that it may be on the rise due to massive marketing efforts to legitimize certain behaviors.
What evidence do you have thats the case? How do you remove the fact that for the last 1000 years under governments with a legal system that came out of a largely Judeo-Christian belief system, homosexuality was a crime and therefore LGTBQ+ people were likely to be suppressed from representation?

Not a California thing, but a west coast thing. With the NE region being the lowest.

And I'm not surprised one bit. There's definitely a general mentality difference between wild west pacific coasters vs. more yuppish straightlaced NE USA.

The comparisons to Activision are weird. Activision knew about workplace misconduct and covered it up. Assuming Sony is doing the same because an executive got caught up in an off brand Chris Hansen Youtube sting is a huge leap in logic. I'm also not convinced he'll end up behind bars because vigilante groups on Youtube are prone to making mistakes that makes prosecution unlikely (most recently, see EDP445). His career is another story all together.
Completely correct.

You cannot compare this to Activision or the other studios out there that have faced issues around sexual harassment and so on. In those cases the victims, and wrongdoers were employees. The company has a duty of care over it's employees, and it failed on that matter. Some then dug deeper to cover things up or didn't act when informed about issues.

This took place in a private individual's own personal time in their own private residence. You can't pin that on an employer.

I'd be curious to learn about employment law in California and how easy it is to fire someone for something like this though. It is the natural step for Sony to take now, and I guess they could easily make an argument that kids play video games thus he must be fired. But if he were say working in an old people's home with no kids about, I know some countries would take the view that firing him would be unfair dismissal.

I don't. I'm just pointing out that people are using a word they don't understand. Don't know why some people are going ape shit over this. Pedophilia is attraction to prepubescent human beings. 15 yo is way too old to be prepubescent. Simple.
Semantics.

TX and CA are also the two most populous states. If everything is evenly distributed they WOULD have the highest number of sex offenders. So Oregon and Montana are worse per capita. So CA is NOT a "haven" for sex offenders. Thank you for proving my point sir!

Edit: CA is near the bottom of your quoted list based on per capita. It's actually one of the better states for sex offender density.

See what assuming without examining data gets you? Banjo64 Banjo64 seriously believed what he was saying. I like you man, but this is a great lesson on being careful with opinions unless you can back them up with data.

California is a heaven to these rich people. You dont hear about that much, since its easy for them to control the city.

If you follow Epstein case, you will know how these freaks carefully try to erase any existence of them.

2nd most number of nonces, twice as many as third place. Looks like nonce-land to me.

How can Oregon and Montana be worse per capita when sick people are evenly distributed across the world?

I don't. I am just theorizing. It seems to be a bigger problem today than in the past, but that's just anecdotal based on media observation, which admittedly may just be more apparent today than in the past (but not actually larger)

I'm guessing they'll ask him to take a leave of absence while they investigate.

Lol you already know what you posted. I said you guys can keep fighting the good fight for a reason. DefenseForce, name makes sense

You said I was defending his actions.

You can't show me any proof because you made up a false accusation. I just caught you lying and you're defending your obvious lie. Keep fighting the good fight, even though it makes you look ridiclous.

Argh, there is always going to be a ranking, but that doesn't mean rates of distribution are wildly out of sync with each other i.e. the distribution is going to be basically "even" in a statistical sense.

Did you even look at the list? Look at the breakdown of per capita numbers. CA is towards the bottom. You're not getting it.

Absolutely. We had one at our workplace. Was placed on leave until it was tried. Got criminally convicted and then given the boot.

I guess Sony can at least respond quickly with a 'we've suspended him pending blah blah'.

I never EVER said "anyone of us could have this problem." That line has a completely different meaning than what I actually said. Don't put words in my mouth that have different connotations. You're being a HUGE ass by doing so.

I said someone could DO this to any of us.

There are so many ways you could produce a video like this that don't involve trying to solicit illegal activity. You even stated one yourself in what I bolded. If the person producing this video DID have contact with that guy, he could have said he was 18+ online. Then when he gets there he's obviously much older so the other person bails.

All this is, is a video of a person shouting things at another person.

Without surveillance, transcripts etc, this is just people throwing stones. There is no evidence presented. Holy cow how do you people not get that? I think some of you don't understand how often people lie about things. Without evidence, this is just ... nothing.

I mean I think it's possible there is truth to it, for a few reasons (I think he waves his hand at the person in the video, which is body language of being aware of why the person is saying what they are saying), but again, I don't know. People acting like they do are ridiculous. This thread should be locked.

Chill dude. We are just discussing the issue. Obviously everything is just alleged at this point, and several people have alluded to that directly.

I read, and predicted you'd go for the " Per capita" deflection. Congratulations on being predictable.

Uh ... How is that a deflection?

Is there any other way to do it? I'm being predictably smart? Thanks?

Let's make a simple extrapolation here:

If a state has 100 million people, 1, million square miles of space and 1 million sex offenders, and another state has 50 million people, 500,000 square miles of space, and 750,000 sex offenders, which state is "worse" in terms of the number of registered sex offenders? Think for a second here.

What a disgusting perv this guy is and I do believe the accusations based on the video and the text messages. I hope the persone filming DID report this guy to the police.

I get that people want to laugh at Jim Ryan virtue-signaling about Activision and then this slimeball turns up soliciting a 15 yr-old for sex in his PS5 t-shirt. BUT this perv is is an individual and unless he was operating a pedo ring at Sony with Jim Ryan's blessing it really doesn't have anything to do with them.

In a company the size of Sony there are probably even more deviants and also at Microsoft and Nintendo but unless any of these and other companies have an environment of harboring and encouraging this kind of behavior they really aren't responsible for the behavior of some sicko employees.

How is it a deflection? Is using stats per capita not allowed? Its clearly makes sense that a population of 40m is going to have more criminals than a population of 2m. Population size is clearly a factor to total numbers of whatever.

Dude as a Californian myself, I can definitely say the LA area and many parts of the SF Silicon area are laden with all kinds of wealthy-elite heinous shit.

but a lot of rural or midsize town cali is just the same as anywhere else: trying to make it by wondering wtf is going on when they read the news 🤪

In the charts, there's a big difference per state and even per region. Not sure how you can justify all states are going to be "statistically even".

Well put and thoughtfully reasoned.

Wait... maybe I'm missing something but why are people comparing this to Activision?
One was work-related and a company that protected certain...activities in a work place.

This is not even related to any company. It's just a guy that works for Sony who's a pedo. His thing is not related to his work nor related to anyone at Sony right?

What a weird thing to use for console wars. Just read on twitter and people are trying way too hard to even compare both.

That said...I can imagine Sony issuing a statement during next week and the guy to be fired.

Two reasons.

1. It's a high level guy doing pervy shit at a game company

2. People also bring up Sony having pervs when Jim Ryan white knighted their company while bashing Activision. So if this whole thing is true (looks legit IMO unless these guys are some reason faking it all for internet laughs), then it looks stupid how they got pervs on staff too

Where exactly that was at a game company?

As bad as Activision was, it was adults with adults. This is a senior VP trying to get a 15 year old boy. A senior VP in charge of a service that many 15 year olds use on a daily basis. So it's not a good look at all and something Sony would want to squash before that becomes a headline on some more sensationalistic mainstream cable news shows.

Yeah, you're right there. But, without going down a huge rabbit hole on a side discussion of human behavior and crime statistics, I have two simple points.

1. CA is WAY down the list on sex offenders. 30 states higher than CA.

2. Despite varying rates of prosecution, I think there are sick people everywhere, to the point where, yes, it's basically "evenly distributed." There is NO REASON for Oregon to be so much worse than CA (Oregon is the worst state) in numbers when we share borders. There is no reason for that invisible geographic border to make a difference in terms of "what lies in the hearts of men." So yeah, I think there is darkness and evil everywhere hidden in people. And no, I don't think it has to do with regions. The whole "CA is full of sick weirdos" beyond other states narrative is just silly and has no basis in reality or numbers.

Anyway, going to get outside while it's still light out for now. Really disappointing and disgusting series of events. I hope Sony fires the guy before the weekend is out. I'm sure most of us agree on that at least.

This isnt just some tiny employee. This a high ranking employee. Activision can use this card against Sony, If Sony tries to say anything to them. This would have the same impact, If Aaron Greenberg did it.
