Particles are only one part of a game, forza win in many aspects.
Except for the protagonist, the enemy models are not exactly state of the art (no matter how many tentacles they have) and the game is not even open world or wide open except the second area.
I was impressed more by the atmosphere\sound design, but every time i watch screens from forza5 it looks fabolous for an open world driving game.
If this was a year full of great looking games like the next one is gonna be between horizon2, gt7, hogwarts, hellblade 2 etc, returnal would probably not even make the list, let's be real, and just for the record, i greatly enjoyed the game, more than anything made by M this year except maybe halo combat when the pc version works...

What happens if you are using a monitor? Also, is this flickering absolutely confirmed during gameplay because I just don’t see it.
returnal is an amazing game, but could deffo do with VRR as it tanks quite allot and is often unstable but that is understandable from the random nature of the game.

I think DF having PS5 win a ton of face-offs and the continued praise of Sony games that the tactic was not as effective as they would have liked. Just look at the review Richard did of the PS5, he was not shy in his praise of the console.
When it has been verified by mods then no it isn't laughable material. It means it's legit but the exact contents are not public. It's how most leaks work here.

I'm not saying DF accepted to be bought by MS (and I hope they didn't) , but the mere fact that MS tried to is a bit disturbing.
Of course anyone could see that MS has been treating DF way better than SONY for a long time now, you can tell it seems to be important to them, and yes, that's was probably a strategy to win DF's favor, but I thought that was it. Something "subtle" like giving DF exclusives or invite them to their headquarters. But if MS is openly talking about buying DF's favor... well, I find that kind of worrying. I think fair play is important, isn't it?
Since we haven't seen the transcript there's not much we can say about it, but I will say that at this moment nothing makes me think DF has accepted to take part in that nasty strategy. Their staff may have their own preferences, of course, like the rest of us, but beyond that I don't think they're favoring one system over the other by telling lies or anything like that. I mean, every single time that a game has performed better on a PlayStation platform they've told us, right?

Could look better but it can't even handle steady 60 FPS at 1080p on next generation console. And in any case, outside the raytracing mode, I'm not sure what exactly is outstanding about the graphic tech of this engine.

It's really simple TBH.
Either provide the transcript or stop talking about it. If it's something that can jeopardize someones livelihood, all the more reason to not keep bringing it up over and over if you can't provide the receipts.

It's pretty cool that you can get RT without losing any performance then. Of course it doesn't come without any sacrifices at all, but the RT performance mode in R&C hits a pretty damn good balance.
It's too bad other devs seem less skilled than Insomniac, as I agree that sacrificing half the framerate for some reflections is pretty much never worth it.

R&C's 40 FPS mode for 120hz screens is an ingenious thing and I'm surprised more devs aren't opting to do things like that.
An evenly divided 40 FPS will look, feel and play hell of a lot smoother than 30 FPS. I can attest as I used to play a lot of half-refresh synced games on my old 75hz monitor (which divides to 37.5~ FPS). If it divides evenly into your display refresh, there's no judder and anything above 30 will feel smoother than 30.

The funny thing is that I was saying that since it was largely PS5 games getting praise in the video it shows how fair DF is. Now people are more convinced than ever than DF has been paid off by MS. Perhaps MS paid DF to praise Sony as some sort of reverse physiological 4D chess move. Maybe MS should ask for their money back. I suppose King Thrash will be even more popular here now.
I don't think there's enough information out for anyone to be jeopardized yet by us discussing it. But I can also see your frustration and where you're coming from about this conversation because it's all just heresay for us on the outside.
If I had incontrovertible evidence about something like this then I'd want to let the public know about it for sure. But if releasing the evidence could potentially cause me or someone else financial harm, then it becomes tricky. I'd still want the public to know even if I can't show the proof I have, but obviously I can't expect to have much credibility.
I can only rely on my good looks, charming personality, and my much esteemed reputation that I have fostered with the mods and you lessers within the GAF community to carry weight behind my words.

You gotta admit it was a fucking brilliant move to destroy DF threads here. People are comparing it to leaks but it's not, because with those leaks you eventually get some information to verify the leaker (like when a game or hardware is finally unveiled). So we are left with the poisoned well of eternity over someone saying MS wanted to buy DF off I've got proof but we don't know if the proof is they tried or they did and we never find out anything more.
