She hulk trailer

:^)--?-<
I read all the issues of the Hulk from the 1960's and early 1970's where he is an uncontrollable monster and that is what I have found boring for him. I have no idea how that element of the Hulk lasted 100+ issues. Obviously you don't care about comics but you can't place your expectations of Hulk onto She-Hulk, they are two entirely different characters. If she was going to be another rage induced uncontrollable monster what would even be the point of her?
Correct, what is the point of her? Strong and resilient is boring, strong at the cost of not having control is interesting. Just being awesome and powerful doesn’t make for a interesting char arc, it’s going to need either another equally strong (and boring) nemesis or some plot device they’ll pull out of their arses.

Superman is in a similar situation. Without Kryptonite he would be insufferably boring.

If X-Men is an inappropriate name nowadays, isn't She-Hulk as well? I mean, it straight up assuming her gender, should be just Hulk, no?

Ang Lee’s Hulk showed more emotion and character than all the DCU people combined. Hulk has so much potential that was just never really used in the MCU.
I love Ang Lee Hulk film. Alot of people hated that film but I loved it due to the movie trying to get into Bruce Banner psyche. But I guess people weren't down for that

Strong and resilience without a moral backbone could be interesting. Like Homelander. I don't see Marvel doing that though.

Seems like they are still going for a jekyll Hyde thing. As a human she is meek, tentative, unassertive, as she-hulk she is dominate, liberated, and more extroverted.

Question is whether or not they will show Walters as being pushed around exclusively by "toxic men" and then she-hulk is a feminist ideal of a woman too strong for men to bully (which usually means she loses all femininity and basically becomes a male herself).

There is a way to do this that would interest me, lots of ways to do it that I wouldn't like. At least it looks like she is having fun as she-hulk which is a nice change of pace.

That's because Whedon was the only person interested in the character. He was the only one willing to show the Hulk as something potentially monstrous to be afraid of while also giving Banner some attention. He's just been shitty comic relief under everybody else since then. Hell, the big climax and resolution to his character happens off screen and had no effect on anything.

And yes Ang Lee's Hulk was excellent

They could have used unfinished CGI, happens all the time trailers take time to make. For example Transformers Revebge of the fallen and Transformers 4 both used incomplete CGI in their reveal trailers 3 - 6 months before release .

There are example where female lawyers in Suits, Damages and movies. They are not defined by their role. Disney could have put it as another worker or family focus but they didn't because of power and prestige.

The woman is considered less successful if she doesn't have a high flying career and matching lifestyle. They could go against the comics, as a creative choice, without being disrespectful if the comics had the character as a lawyer.

CGI and concept aside, it's pretty telling they put the attorney in the title. You can race and gender swap all day but classism is alive and well.

It might just be the trailer where she comes across as a character from Sex and the City and with a best friend that's the personal assistant type.

But then again, this is Disney...

I'm betting the reviews are probably accurate.
Crazy feminist Grace Randolph said the show is even too feminist for her.

I predict the same people that like all Marvel stuff will like this and most that don't won't.
I love Hulk, so I'm going to give this one a shot and expect very, very little from the content they have released so far. Hoping for the best.

Again, she was fired by Marvel; story goes by Ike Perlmutter himself.

Before her YouTube channel, she was hosting a Marvel YouTube show called The Watcher. The story I've heard is that the job was either a freelance or contract type thing and she wasn't technically a "Marvel" employee, but she did something like identifying herself as such on her resume or something and Perlmutter himself axed her for it.

That was a dumb move of her if true but does that mean any Marvel review of her is in bad faith?
She wasn't that negative on She-Hulk, she thought it had its fun moments.

This show is absolutely not aimed at me, or I’d speculate the vast majority of people on GAF.

If you want a satirical comedy made by and for women in their 30s that has superheroes mashed into it, then watch it.

Otherwise, you deserve everything you get if you decide to watch it wanting something else.

Wise words but what if as a Marvel fan it has some important events needed to understand later Marvel shows/movies? :lollipop_confounded:

I think She-Hulk is not a one off character in the MCU.

...the interviews with the cast and crew that make the whole production sound like a multimillion dollar coping session for lonely single women staring down the barrel of middle age and facing up to the terrifying reality that their lives are as hollow and empty as the box of cheap supermarket wine they get through every evening.

Makes me want to ask about the Drinker's relationship with their mom.

How about with his wife or girlfriend? Does he have one?

Or maybe look into the interviews with the cast and crew. They've been saying weird stuff like criticizing the CGI stems from a cultural belief of having ownership of women's bodies or how they were pointing out it's an all female crew behind the cameras.

That doesn't sound at all like what that reviewer's very detailed and revealing description had to say.

I would have to investigate those CGI criticisms to properly engage with the counter argument. I don't care, so I won't be.
Mention of an all female crew is weird to you? That seems standard in the West.

None of that would change my viewing of the show. It's more enjoyable in my experience to avoid interviews and reviews to form an opinion after watching the show.

This shit is so fucking exhausting.

Both the marketing of these shows and weird obnoxious shit in them too but also the reactions surrounding them.
It really feels like everything is just engulfed in drama constantly.,

If you want more in depth thoughts from Critical Drinker, those are on his live streams and not the ~10 min videos he makes where he plays some half drunk character.

How these women might be IRL should have no bearing how good the show is. Doesn't mean he's not allowed to speculate on it. As long as he doesn't directly knock shows based on ad homs alone.

I don't know how standard an all female crew is in the west but pointing it out a an advantage is questionable to me.

It shouldn't. The show stands or falls on its own merits.

“I think that there’s a cultural obsession with the certain physique that goes along with these movies sometimes,” Maslany tells ET. “I certainly fell prey to that idea, and I definitely don’t think it’s a thing that we should be pursuing ‘cause it’s just these weird standards that none of us can actually keep up with unless we’re going to the gym 1,000 times a week.”

“What I love about She-Hulk is that she represents a different body and a different perception from the outside,” she adds. “How people see her is so much a part of her story… That to me is really exciting conversation that can happen around this, which is: How do we look at someone differently depending on the body that they inhabit?”

Such an odd angle to take when EVERY male superhero, except maybe that chubby kid from Deadpool 2 and Dr. Strange's buddy, are SHREDDED. Those male actors put in the damn work. Granted, it's PEDs and probably not a super healthy long term process to do it over and over but still....they do the work. Even Fattfleck was such an oddity.

Then these ladies come along and complain that a little bulemia is a big deal* :p And kinda takes the wind out of all the gushing about Natalie Portman bulking up for Thor:L+T

And Maslany looked like this at the premier, not sure what body type she is campaigning against? She looks healthy and fit. Not even packing 6 months of chicken breasts and broccoli or anything harsh like that. The trailers show a pretty sleek she-hulk, it's not like she porks out in rage or anything. Maybe I'm missing her point?

*I know bulemia is serious

Anyone else find it a little odd that all the reviews seem to be on only 4 episodes Disney let reviewers watch? I believe it’s 9 episodes in total. I wasn’t sure if this was just a TV review thing, so checked out Sandman and League is their Own reviews and they seemed to be done on the full season. Not sure how one can fairly critique a season without seeing how it’s plot develops and concludes.
