Personally hyped for Starfield. Final Fantasy, not so much. Starfield is gonna be huge, unless it's just a colossal bag of shit. Game Pass will probably put a dent in sales, but still do pretty well.

FF16 is only on PS5, right? I think Starfield will initially sell better because PC bros don't care much about Gamepass and will buy the game on Steam. Once FF16 comes to PC, it will overtake Starfield in sales though.

But FFXVI has Ryota Suzuki as combat director, who was one of the main designers on Dragon's Dogma and Devil May Cry 5, Square Enix got the bread and butter of action gaming to work on this title,only the finest among the fine
their fans are gonna notice the massive difference next to FFVII and KH3.

Starfield will be a genre defining game. FF16 will be a great experience but won’t move its genre forward. Starfield will sell better due to more mass appeal. FF will sell really well b if don’t see it crossing 8 mill.

Final Fantasy games don't tend to do well against Beth RPGs in sales. They are both big but Beth RPGs can do crazy well. I hope both are good but I expect Starfield to have wider appeal than FF16.
Reviews is a toss up but think ff xvi to maybe get a higher score. Suspect that Starfield might have some unrealistic expectations that ff xvi won't do aka the amount of change between this game and previous games from the dev.
Sales, I think it's going to be Starfield. How many people got the weird FH5 edition for early access? Not exactly equivalent but decent example that they can still hit good numbers. FF XVI will be impacted largely by the install base of the ps5. What's the last official number for FF7R?

I think the latest figure we got was over 5 million as of 2 years ago. Which obviously didn't include the Intergrade relaunch for PS5 and PC. The latter of which is now on both Steam and EGS. Soooo.... MAYBE 7 million at this point? Pure speculation. I could be way off.

It's a different situation now. A lot of Xbox sales won't happen because of Gamepass. And Playstation won't be getting the game at all.

Starfield will sell more at launch because of the install base of PC + Xbox vs just PS5.
Skyrim is huge on PC, even today, 11 years after release it has a 35k+ daily concurrent players.
Then it will sell more in the long run because of re-releases, expansions, VR versions and mod support of course.
FFXVI will most likely peak at 10-12M and that’s if it’s even good of course.

As much of a mark for Final Fantasy as I am, Starfield will review better and will sell much better.
But, which one will actually be better is a matter of taste. I personally don't like Bethesda RPGs. I think their gameplay is mediocre at best and I've had more fun playing Final Fantasy XIII (which isn't that much fun either) than playing Skyrim.
But I would be silly to think FFXVI, sales-wise, will be better than one of the most anticipated RPGs to come out in the next year. It's just kind of silly to think otherwise.

Well it also works with Fallout 4 except today’s peak is 26k instead of 35k for Skyrim. FO4 had a huge launch but less staying power than Skyrim overall.
You can’t assume everyone with an Xbox has GP since that’s incorrect when you compare subs and MAUs.
With GP the game will sell less than if GP didn’t exist of course but it won’t go from 12m sales in 24 hours to less than 12m lifetime.

Check the Japanese number one most anticipated games list. Unless it is an absolute disaster FFXVI will sell very well. Also, the fact that the team working on this game is basically an all-star team Japanese players are frothing at the mouth for this game. That community doesn't generally port beg but here we are.
Starfield will be a Bethesda FPS so I am not sure how the gameplay will be but I am absolutely sure it will look amazing. If it's any good it will sell VERY well on steam due to the MOD community and have long legs. If FFXVI is half as good as people inside SE expect it to be it is going to have very long legs. I expect their sales to be neck and neck honestly due to one being on gamepass so that will cannibalize Xbox sales, and the other being only on Playstation 5 to start.

Dunno how people view bugs nowadays especially after the controversial high review scores but very buggy release of Cyberpunk but it is definitely a cautionary tale for reviewers hoping to avoid backlash. Bethesda as we know is a jank developer. It's in their DNA.
