Gotham Knights apparently is locked 4k/30fps on consoles

I feel like it’s been getting a bad rap. But underneath it all I feel like this game has something special, and it might just be a product of odd/weird marketing choices and how they’ve decided to show off the game. I feel like the game has a lot of good stuff in it, and it’s not been framed very well.vv

Maybe I just really want it to be good. But I do love an underdog! It’s an open-world RPG with a huge city to explore and supposedly lots of mysteries to uncover. I am excited to at least see how the final product turns out.

Witcher 3 had pretty bad combat too, but it’s one of the best games ever made, in my opinion. At least this game shows enemies’ levels, I’m one of those people who likes that in my RPGs.
the gameplay is the same over and over is what i hear that is bad but spiderman 2018 is same over and over and most reviewers was like spiderman is god and now they think gk is bad for the same thing??????????????????????????????//

30 fps generally looks terrible on OLED TVs which is why I prefer 60 fps or even 40 fps over the lower framerates now. Of course, I was used to it on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X but once you experience the smoothness of a 60 fps framerate on a 120 Hz refresh screen with VRR then it is almost impossible to go back. 30 fps games are prone to bad framepacing, as mentioned, and also doesn't support VRR so any drops below 30 fps, even to 29 or 28 fps, will manifest as noticeble stuttering. I really am quite shocked at a PS5/Xbox Series game being released with only a 30 fps mode. I really thought we'd moved past that now the new consoles have decent CPUs.
Uh the cpus are the worst aspect of the consoles and really the only true flaw that isn’t just asking for a luxury it’s the main reason we need pro models

They just lost my day one order of the steelbook deluxe edition. My old, diabetic eyes just can’t do 30 any more. I’ve tried, and I just can’t. Sad, but this one comes off of my list until they fix this unacceptable mistake.

Seems that the Warner Bros/Discovery merger fuckery didn't stop there...:\ this game just looks off and being locked at 4K/30 on current gen with no other options is a slap in the face.

What about it this is "highly detailed"?:

It will end two ways. The publisher decides to move on quickly and starts to prepare plans for Suicide Squad and Gollum marketing next year.

Or...

Blog posts detailing post game plans including how they will improve the game based on feedback with free major updates throughout the following year like we have seen with Saints Row this week.

70 dollars price point day one tho.

This release now fix later routine is getting out of hand. I don’t blame anyone for never pre ordering games.

This is going to be trend going forward.

The consoles are not as powerful as advertised. Raytracing 30fps is going to be where many next gen games land.

I’ll still get this on console, game looks fun enough. 30 fps shouldn’t be a huge issue.

Don’t worry guys the remaster of the remaster in 2023 will take care of all this
When the PS3/360 Arkham games were remastered for 8th gen, they stuck with 30fps.
I'm guessing this game will stay at 30fps for all time on consoles.

Yeah, there is nothing about this game that warrants a 30fps lock. Honestly it doesn't look any better than Arkham Knight to my eyes. Rolled my eyes at the Dev comment about a "highly detailed open world". Like, really?

It's equally hilarious how some people treat this sub par title as a sign of things to come on how all games will move to a 30fps lock, and even preferring 30fps cause it will automatically mean full "bells and whistles". If a game looks like the Matrix tech demo, sure, a 30fps is justified. But this? This has nothing about it graphically that merits having no performance mode.

Lazy cunts, this is what we get for the nice soft development process, get these geezas on the crunch and put a decent game out. Nearly 2 yrs into this gen and its worse than the last. Gotham Shite.

Many “Whelps”! Handle It!
One of the devs on discord regarding 60fps. Highly detailed open world apparently....

I get her reasoning / what she's trying to claim, but plenty of PC games offer untethered multiplayer while the various players in the session are all using wildly different setups and configurations getting their own unique framerates and such. Without more detailed information it just sounds like a hand-waving excuse.

Lel at the people who take this game as a reference for what performance will be in general on current gen. Part I and Demon Souls are current gen exclusives and absolutely rape this game visually while running at 1440p and 60 fps. TLOU even runs at 90+ fps in Performance Unlocked Mode.

Hell, every single cross gen game to date running at 60 fps looks way better than this.

These Gotham Knights devs obviously either fucked it up during development, or for whatever reason didn't have according standards for visuals and performance.

I was actually going to buy this...now Im not. Can;t go back to 30...give us the option. Ray tracing is cool but not needed. Until its no longer comes at a major performance cost give me option.

This reply makes absolutely no sense at all. Because it's "highly detailed" and has coop, you can't have different graphic settings?

So what happens on PC then?

On PC you'll be able to play the game at 1080/60fps, low settings with a Ryzen 5 3600 and an RX 590.

I have been on this board for just a few years shy of two decades and I have to say, this 30fps cap on “next gen” consoles shit always comes up.

Im going to tell you. Next to know one gives a shit.

Plenty of games will be 30fps only in the future. You will play it or you won’t.

Console Exclusive Players: "We want consoles to be be able to play games at 4k/60fps without compromises but remain the same cost!!!"

***most games require graphical downgrades to hit 60fps target or dismiss 60fps option entirely due to hardware limitations***

That comment by the "dev" is such a crock, look at how old arkham knight is and how much better it looks, regardless of how brilliant rocksteady were with squeezing everything from UE3 this should look better. Really no excuse given it's next gen only

well aren't these the ppl that made Arkham Origins? a great game except it was basically using everything Rocksteady made with Arkham City. And at launch it was unplayable as it was glitchy and ran at about 7 frames per second

Well PC version require you to spend 6 hours fiddling with the setting to get 60fps so its not exactly the same.
