Yeah, pretty stupid.

Dunno what his net worth has any bearing on my assessment.

He's a total Putin patsy. He's a proven liar and spending $44B on Twitter is a total self-own. So outside of his weird cult Musk bros he's pretty much an idiot, and known as one.

But guess we're cheering on some weird internet drama with his owning of.... His own customers on Twitter? Like I dunno how that even makes sense. But if he turns it off, I'll be the first to say thank you.

Yea the irony of it all being lost on his supporters is something I just cannot understand. These people who traffic in nothing but emotion, these anti-science, anti-intellectual types, who are victims of their own id, are apparently super eager to see the platform burn even as they embarrassingly post boomer tier memes idolizing some rich guy taking it over? The entire situation is just fucking bizarre. What do they want exactly? I mean aside from another platform to spread conspiracy theories and bigotry on, but there's already places like Gab and Parler for that, so why does Twitter matter to them?

Eh fuck it, who cares in the end. If Musk fucks this up a bunch of tech workers will just create a new Twitter. There will always be investors for this kind of thing.

Sounds like this is troubling you quite a bit. And you very well know that sites like Gab and Parler aren’t allowed to exist freely by the authoritarian left.

Also, a bit rich talking about emotion from the people who came up with micro aggressions.

I'm not looking for an argument but seriously don't project upon me. Most of us normal people don't really care too much about some tech acquisition like this (though it is fun to observe), and I still don't even know how to define a micro aggression let alone complain about them. Stop imagining people on the internet that you disagree with as some kind of made-up archetype. We're all thinking human beings with nuanced opinions on things.

So, you’re not seeing the irony of your post following the one before that? It’s ok to have made-up archetypes for people you don’t agree with but “we’re all humans” when you’re boxed-in?
And it’s easy to say you don’t care after you went on a mini-rant about people who want Musk to buy Twitter.

Because we can literally browse the tweets of people reacting and behaving in the ways I and others noted, while this weird boogeyman of people "crying" about this or microaggressions (again, I still don't even know what that entails) is fantasy outside of the weirdest Tumblr blogs that do not reflect any majority of a population.

We don't have to take severe sides all the time, and we can agree that the world is nuanced and so are the people within it.

And "boxed-in". Haha. Please.

It's over BadBurger, you got Boxed-in! boom. Might as well turn around and walk away hanging your head in shame but you can't cause you are.... boxed-in. Imagine the insanity of arguing that nuance is a thing that exists. :)

Saw that Musk was already starting to pull back from the "cutting 75% of Twitter workforce" comments. I'm sure the wishy-washy nature of that already has plenty of employees there super thrilled. More uncertainty is always good.

There's no one crying. That's just trashtalk to maybe, in one way, try to make others put up with Musk. Most people that were aware and cared about this purchase had months to process and expected the court to make him buy it by the end of the year. $44 billion was it? That's on top of the already buying $3 billion twitter to try to change policies? With the well known and credible possibility of staffing and policy changes it'd be surprising if there weren't already startups well into development for the migration of birds that could do very well if he goes Elon Muskva and sinks.

so tomorrow is the day he owns Twitter?

hope he makes some major changes. fuck that place. i have a twitter account but don't post on it. it's good for following stuff but the community is toxic as fuck. i'm all for free speech but cmon lol the place is a shit hole.

I missed this one.

This is why he's hated by some people. The inability to restrict content.

Twitter isn't banning people for reporting facts. Ukraine is a perfect example of citizen journalism being empowered by the platform, and Elon had fuck all to do with that. It's a complete red herring. The content that has been restricted is not journalism.

This is just Elon trying to pump himself up as some hero, when the app has been doing all this shit already. Stuff that gets banned is fringe at the lower level, and threats to advertising dollars with larger followings.

In any case, I won’t be using twitter until some notable security improvements happen, but I’m not sure how that will work without adding more bots to the platform

Exactly. The War in Ukraine is the perfect example of citizen journalism being done right and being elevated to make an impact. Twitter has been one of the best social media sites on the Ukraine situation. It's where most of the world was getting on the ground Ukraine information there at the start.

That whole statement is just corpo speak to advertisers in the hopes they don't immediately leave once he starts relaxing the moderation of the site. Nothing more.

How did he manage to get more than 200 B in net worth?

Clearly he has triggered you.

I disagree with him on a large number of things, but saying he is “stupid” is just a blatant projection from you. Dude has contributed more to humanity than you could ever hope to accomplish in ten lifetimes.

I love how y'all's hanging on his balls cause money.

Fact is, for anything he's done which really is taking credit for those who actually do the real work, he's done so many other shitty things it's pretty baffling he's got any stans - especially on a message forum. I just find it fascinating y'all really are so vested.

It's like some weird meta-proxy war for dorks on both sides of this one.

And yeah - he's stupid. :)

I didn't say anything about money.

This is a very lazy and shitty attempt of characterization, be fair.

Out of curiosity, I checked out Mastodon. I had my first boomer moment. I have no clue how the hell you’re supposed to use it. I can’t imagine too many people will find a successful alternate when they flee the nest.

He has investors, it's not all coming from him.

Musk will be okay.

i couldn't give a shit less if he lived, died, or turned out to be an alien from Uranus. Just another rich elite who has to much money and power for his own good. If the top 1% died tomorrow, I wouldn't shed one tear.

Well, being an alien would be cool.

It's human nature. He claims he wants the platform to be a "public square" for the debate and discussion of idea in a civilised way. That's not happening. It will continue to just be idiots from either side yelling at each other until they are inevitably blocked by one or the other.

You don't need to see the future to know that. You just have to have eyes and ears.

I'm so excited.

Twitter is a cancer that is poisoning the soul of society. I hope that he destroys it. PLEASE start off by firing 75% of the staff, Elon! Crash this fucker into the ground.

Why do you think he will destroy it? He will more likely just try to make it cashable and maybe compete somehow with facebook, whatsup and telegram. Propably one part of the puzzle with Starlink.

I am completely indifferent to any of this--I think the only people that will be disappointed in the end, are the people that think he's going to "destroy the woke mob" or whatever dumbshit some groups are suggesting.

The reality? Dude spent billions of dollars on this. You think he's going to hit the self-destruct button on all that capital? He didn't become the world's richest man by making massive financial blunders--this is probably just another major investment opportunity for him. I would bet that very little changes will be noticeable on the user's end in the next 6 months, if ever. Maybe some new options and features, but this notion of him being the "savior of free speech" is beyond comical to me.
