IGN France: Yes, Redfall was originally planned for PS5

I can't wait to see how some people on GAF spin this.

Honestly exclusivity stuff doesn't bother me as I play on all platforms and I don't pledge my undying allegiance to a certain brand
Neither do I, but not everybody has the financial means to play on all platforms.

Final Fantasy VII Remake and Redfall / Starfield are completely different things. The timed-exclusivity period for FFVII Remake was for 1 year, which expired years ago. It's SE that's not porting the game to Xbox.

Redfall and Starfield were stopped from coming to PlayStation because of Microsoft's intervention. Yet they kept chanting "more games for everyone" and scoring positive PR points.

It was extremely hypocrite of them. And I hope reasonable minds here, like yourself, at least call them out for this.

First time always online got announced I called it out and said it was shit. Seems they listened to everyone. The basics of effective persuasion is that you praise someone for moving to your position. If you're just shitting on them even after they do what you asked, why would anyone listen to your requests? Just illogical negativity at that point.

The same thing happened when Xbox fans praised MS for removing the draconian DRM from The Xbox one after the shitstorm from legitimate gamers. They deserved no praise for trying to pull that shit on their consumers. The fact that they even dared to try it matters and they should get scrutinized for that, not after they saw the preorder numbers and got scared and backpaddled.

the immediate cancellation of the PlayStation 5 version of the game.
Technically they didn't say to them the PS5 version was canceled. Just that they had to focus on PC and Xbox.

No PlayStation 5, we're focusing on Xbox, PC and the Game Pass
I am just saying that meaning of words is important nowadays in those interviews. They still could release it later on PS5 without having lied in the interview.

Hopefully the CMA and FTC read this article as it directly proves the point that Microsoft is buying companies with the express purpose to remove access from other platforms. At this point only fools and fanboys believe Microsoft's claims that they have no intention of turning ABK properties into exclusives. You don't spend nearly 70 billion to acquire a company just to maintain the status quo.

Microsoft has a very long history of saying one thing and then doing something else. It's the same kind of behavior that got them in trouble during the Windows/Internet Explore late 90's era.
Aren’t we talking about the same guys keeping Minecraft everywhere?

Still waiting for when MS said there would be no exclusive Bethesda titles?

Cause all I have is the exact opposite:

Must be the other Phil Spencer I guess.

"With the addition of the Bethesda creative teams, gamers should know that Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games, including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players.
Must be the other Phil Spencer I guess."

That doesn't count for reasons.

Please, tell me you are being paid for this.
Because if it's for free it is really pathetic.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Aren't you just a bundle of positivity :messenger_tears_of_joy:

No, it doesn't.

You're being disingenuous though, as Sony has exclusives and that it is essential for having a brand. And it's one thing to bring some franchises to multiple platforms but not others, like Call of Duty and Minecraft vs single player games that help sell systems.

Frankly, expecting the competition to hand out all their content while your favorite company never gives out anything is nothing less than unmitigated gall.

Which one of those had the Xbox version cancelled?
All of them when they got deals with PlayStation. Original Kotor was an Xbox exclusive game btw. Don’t forget final fantasy 7 remakes and 16. Street fighter 5 too. someone will come up with bullshit saying Sony helped the development of these games. Guess what, Xbox is helping with all of Bethesda’s game development.

Yeah, nobody is drinking that hopium anymore that COD would remain multiplatform. Not anymore

And both Xbox and Sony has exclusives. Sony doesn't go around buying multiplatform publishers and forces them to cancel Xbox versions. They also don't release statements every week that "gaming is for everyone" and "when everyone plays, we all win."

My theory is that people have mixed what was said about CoD and what was said about Bethesda due to low attention span or dishonesty.

MS has done exactly what they said on the Bethesda deal.

Did they take away the PS5 version of Redfall or not?
No, because it was not promised to be on PS in the first place. Now, Stellar Blade on the other hand...

First they didn't remove any games because it wasn't announced.
NOW they didn't move games that are on PSN.
It is the same thing. It was neither announced nor available on PSN. You could not pre-order it for example.

Anyway, this news are nothing special.

Nah man, they just buy rights to iconic characters like Spider-Man and deny him to everyone, or they buy third party exclusives and exclusive levels and such.

Face it, this is a dog-eat-dog business.

Sony made them cancel their Xbox versions? 😮 Source please?

We didn't have a source for this until today.

It's obvious that every game would have had as many platforms as possible planned.

Ive never been in the camp that PS5 versions of games didnt exist before the purchase. I believe a multiplatform developer will have absolutely planned to have their games on every platform possible. Of course Microsoft made all these recent games exclusive. They even sat down after the purchase and told the world. that's what the purchase was for.

"But if you're an Xbox customer," Spencer continued, "the thing I want you to know is this is about delivering great exclusive games for you that ship on platforms where Game Pass exists. And that's our goal, that's why we're doing this, that's the root of this partnership that we're building - and the creative capability we'll be able to bring to market for Xbox customers is going to be the best it's ever been for Xbox after we're done here."
