Landed on Mars, went exploring. Found abounded space port from early human expeditions (2050 in game). Amazing location. Witnessed sunrise on Mars with epic fucking music in the background. Serious goosebumps.

Then I stumbled upon some Spacers, whacked them. Wanted to steal their ship but I lack the skill to fly it. So I stole their contraband and all their food and now I'm back to the city to sell it for some credits.

Ah, and magazines from Fallout 4 ARE BACK BABY! Go and explore, people!

You get to the point where you no longer have to prove to yourself that you're good at video games
For many people it is not about that at all.

Easy games are just boring, it kill sense of progression and exploration because finding loot is not exciting at all, oh wow i just unlocked a new legendary gun and a super powerfull skil...to bad that i've fucked up people with ease since the first second of the game...absolutely terrible in my book.

Taking away sense of progression and being excited for the exploration from a game like this is a cardinal sin.

And bethesda games don't have good enough writing or role playing like new vegas or bg3 that can make up for what you miss by playing on easy.
(Although starfield seems to be a bit better this time around)

And let's be honest, bethesda games are cakewalks even on harder difficulty after 10 to 20 hours except some bullshit enemy spikes, you are not playing a souls where you die 50 times on a boss.

My 2 cents.

So far I just dumped everthing on the floor of the ship. Have not figured out if we can place things or store them in a big chest or what.
You can actually dump items off onto your companions. You have to select the “let’s trade gear” dialogue option. I think they also use that system where anything you can retrieve an item from can also be used to access your stored items. For instance I stored an item in one of those med pack caches on a wall and retrieved it from another one. Haven’t tested this out too much yet.

Im stuck in my first combat. How to you lock on? The lasers and missiles do nothing. Ive hit this ship a hundred times. what am I doing wrong?
Use the turbo boost with l3 to get close to him and use the blade, if you stay close to him it's a pretty easy boss, assisted lock on is on r3.

Not gonna lie, space travel in this game is a huge bummer. It's just: open videogame menu - hold X to fast travel - fade black loading screen - landing animation (zero interactivity) - another load screen and suddenly you're on the surface of a new planet.

Zero immersion and the whole process feels archaic. They really couldn't make the starmap a display in the pilot cabin that you can interact with while you're in the chair?

I might sound weird but everything in this game is so videogame-y. Menu this, submenu that, loading screen, loading screen, navigate three menu screens to equip a helmet, good lord.

Question about the first combat place before New Atlantis:

Did anyone find an actual terramorph enemy somewhere in the facility? I couldnt find anything and if there wasn't, would be pretty disappointing adding all that dialogue and storytelling there...rpgs need this kind of side content
YES! My encounter was terrifying, I had a random civilian outpost about 1k away from the facility, I was inside & I started hearing combat & walked out to everyone dead. It was fairly weak & still took all my bullets and had to kill it with my drill lol.

Considering weekend is coming I'm curios how many concurrent will Starfield hit in Early Access. If I remember correctly, Hogwarts had around 460k concurrent in Early Access. Starfield had 234k in half of a day which bodes well for weekend numbers.
And that's of course without PC Game Pass numbers.

I'll be playing this weekend, got the game ready to go on Steam.

Does this showcase reflect the actual game?

I consider myself really lucky with this game because i could not give less fucks about some of the big flaws in it:

Not perfect tiles (i was never gonna run in the nothingness for 100 km like a moron to farm some rocks, i'm never gonna touch the base building minigame stuff)
No space exploration with the ship (i hate spaceship fighting\exploration games), perfectly ok with menu to chose a destination
No flying in the planet atmosphere

My complete disinterest for the space stuff play in my favour (for how absurd it can sound in a game like this)

If quests, skills, indoors exploration, Combat, sense of progression and loot are good, then i'm happy.
I was never expecting a dense outdoor map to explore like an horizon or far cry, not with this scope.

Lack of gore, minimap and bad ia are the big flaws for me, more game-y flaws if you want...

(and if the game turn out a cakewalk from start to finish)

This is how I feel. I’m not a big explorer type & i definitely don’t care about space battles. I cancelled my preorder when I saw reviews but I think I let the reviews influence me too much.

Loving it so far, the tile issue that’s been used as a dig towards the game is a moot point. The tiles are fecking huge 😂 like the ship is a dot on a 4K screen from where Iam and am still not at the barrier.

Gun play feels nice and the graphics are nice also, not cutting edge but far ahead of skyrim and it’s modes that overhaul the graphics.

Beautiful game.

played a couple of hours. so far it just feels like space fallout x nms. not that it's bad lol. it's fun and i'm of course still learning.

the star maps are confusing as fuck. there was some basic ship flight but not sure if i can actually fly in space to planets? it's like the game wants me to fast travel everywhere. i'll need to spend more time with it.

when i got to the new atlantis i thought i could take my space suit off but something kept beeping so i put it back on. when can i take it off?

So.... I picked the ??? option for the background character and pressed 'x' to confirm. It then exited the character creation screen and moved on to gameplay. I didn't even pick traits. Are there no traits for the '???' background? Why did it not even prompt me about adding the traits. Can I go back and add them?

You gotta go to the next page with the RB, pressing X and finishing is just going to finish the creator, and it sounds like you started wtihout a trait.

I'd say restart the game if you're not too far into it.

I guess it comes down to perspective and what you're looking to get out of it. A good game will make it so that you don't have to fight every step of the way to experience what it has to offer, especially RPG's like this. Having to fight against the game to get to the next level doesn't feel like progression to me, it feels like work. I find games like BG3 and anything soulslike to be tedious and repetitiv, kind of like factory work. Especially soulslike where you just keep doing the same thing over and over to get by. If I have to work to play a video game then I find It boring and don't want to play. I want to be entertained.

I was afraid of that. Not too far. Just had the 1st space combat and was about to board the ship. I'll have to go and see where the autosaves are and maybe roll back.

So far I’m a bit underwhelmed. This game really needs a VATs system - did Fallout 4 not have it (I only played 3). The pirates running at you just looks off and not exactly fun - the gunplay is clunky. The vats system really helped get rid of the clunk and had cool animations.
100%. It dramatically elevates Fallout because you don't have to rely purely on the gunplay. And you get the cool zoom in kills. And it feels RPG-ish. So far they removed it and didn't replace it with an equivalent new addition, which was kind of my gripe with the combat since the reveal. There is no big new hook for the battle system that I can see.

But yeah, I barely got to play it so far so we'll see. Only got a few basic guns. Haven't gotten to use any stealth yet either, which is my focus.

Haven't done any zero-G stuff or jetpack either yet.

I don't get any entartainment if i have zero challenge and i just go through the motion.

Different taste i guess.

Cohh chose the ??? background and had the traits available to him, it sound like a bug.

The space magic is the new hook but apparently you unlock it pretty late in the game.

My friend has told me that not only is this in Starfield, but it has an upgrade tree.

dumb-and-dumber-jimcarrey.gif

Chance of Elder Scrolls 6 bringing hand-to-hand back officially? Maybe? Hopefully?

Yeah, Starfield does indeed have a dedicated skill segment for melee combat, you might have seen them punching fools 50 feet in the air in the trailers too.

And some people who are speccing it are swearing by it that it is overpowered as fuck.
