Indiana Jones by MachineGames Officially Revealed - Coming in 2024 | Xbox Direct 2024

Is this supposed to be an insult or a joke?

Have you seen RoboCop? It looks fucking sick. Teyon have come a long fucking way.
And what do you think the budget was for RoboCop and comparison to Indiana Jones? That's the point i'm trying to make. I knew what I was expecting when I bought RoboCop. One studio had the limitations of a budget and another studio doesn't and the fact that they look similar is a problem.

So, I take it that's not Harrison's voice? Sounds super weird. Graphics look pretty dated as well. That said, I'm a huge Indy fan and 1st person is a great choice IMO. Will play, but will have my expectations in check.

Lol@everyone whining "1st person, I'm out!"...

Fucksakes the game isn't even out and yes, 1st person sucks balls, narratively driven adventure games should be 3rd person, this looks all wrong but you know what it looks like an indy game, graphics looks great, some world hopping going on so who knows maybe it'll be great but I for one won't be playing it cause it's an Xbox exclusive ffs

This is not a comparison you are willing to make.

Poor $3t company cannot afford at least fully playable optional 3rd person (hello, ResiEvil!).

I am absoutely willing to make it and you cant stop me with your weeby anime chick in a bucket or whatever the fuck that is :pie_raybans:

Watched it on 4K now and it looks better than what I first seen in the stream. I think the biggest fault to find is the lip syncing. It doesn’t match up with most of the characters we seen talk in the trailer.

Should’ve been third person.

At times the game looks great for faces and environments , along with fps. Other times it looks plastic, flat, and odd.

No Harrison ford voice though? Really? Plus the facial tech they’re using you can tell Harrison signed off on use my likeness but I’m not helping with any facial capture or anything so he looks out of place compared to the quality of the rest of the cast.

I’m not giving two shits about this game honestly. May try it on gamepass if I’m bored.

Sounds more like Jeff Goldblum than it does Harrison Ford.

Looks pretty good, would prefer third person though, will play if it can run on Steam Deck or releases on PS.

Hail to the Gamepass, it won’t let sink immersive FPPs which are the last shelter for players that like to use imagination in gaming. Will fall into 80s instead of 60s in scores. Congrats from PlayStation user, keep it up.

Theyve literally shown third person gameplay and first person gameplay.

Dead giveaway who here hasnt even watched the footage.

The exploration , puzzles and combat is first person, that’s the majority of the game. The only third person I saw was when he was climbing.

Absolutely the Xbox answer to Uncharted that just nails everything I love about Indiana Jones. Really excited to see how this one turns out.

If they manage by the grace of gods to get some good whip action then ffs get their asses on a 3D Castlevania.

Why are you guys worried about a first-person Castlevania? This studio is GREAT at FP games!

Looks pretty fun.
The visuals seem a bit dated but the gameplay looks cool. I actually wouldn't mind if a good portion of the game involves traversal and puzzles.

Also am I crazy or didn't we already know this was going to be first person? Did I just asume it would be because of Machinegames?

Wow this looked bad, some rough animations, no visual spectacle of any kind. Doesn't feel at all like it's going to be in the same league as Uncharted when it comes to the presentation, attention to detail and the budget to make that happen. I don't mind that much that they stayed with the first person perspective considering it's their thing, but this needed to look much better.

And ffs, why on earth would you buy the rights to have Harrison's face (probably for a shitload of money) and then hire a voice actor that doesn't sound like him.

Simps for Amouranth
Some of the best games ever made are first person so the whining about it is fucking bizarre. Games like this can totally work in that perspective as well, for example; Thief, Butchers Bay, and Dishonored come to mind.
All great games sure but I think everyone was expecting Uncharted/Tomb Raider with an Indiana Jones skin tbf

I think it looks great, but Machine Games messed up. The Third Person Cinematic Action Gamer demands cutting edge tech. They want to see the dimples on the blue jean rivets while they hug the posterior (ass) of the main character. The rely on it because they're completely bereft of imagination. The story also needs to subvert expectations and put the bastard protagonist male in his place. I don't see anyone putting Indy in his place in this trailer. Only creative combat and large environments to explore. That's a whole nother problem. Exploration is a huge no-no (unless there's med pack crafting involved). The Third Person Cinematic Action Gamer has no time to explore. We need all key items laid directly at our feet with a glowing outline (and the glow needs to be ray traced glow). I mean, I'll be excited to play it day 1, but I don't think the target audience is going to be into it. They probably didn't even hire a diverse cast of motion capture artists. Not to mention the voice actor doesn't sound exactly like the last slop I watched in theaters. Sheesh.

You mean like seeing the torso and hand from first person or seeing the whole body in third person? The latter would be an unconventional opinion, but whatever, youre free to feel and enjoy stuff the way you want to.

Its perfectly fine to have a preference like you do, but its a whole other thing acting like the camera impacts the story, voice acting, writing, you know the narrative.
And if that were the case wanting the game to be a visual novel or an isometric game would be preferable over third person since those tend to have the most words and potential for narrative, but it sure as hell isnt.

A decade of the same formulaic cinematic third-person Playstation games have conditioned gamers into thinking that any upcoming game that deviates from that formula is instantly trash. At least this game seems refreshing. If this game was third-person, y'all would be complaining that its trying to copy Uncharted. Lets not pretend otherwise.

Indiana game looks iffy, like a notch down from Teyon's "AA" Robocop in a lot of ways, animation, character models, environmental detail. Maybe I just had too high expectations for the studio, but I hope Microsoft don't try to make it into a tentpole title, if it's got a big AAA budget it doesn't look like the developers knew what to do with it.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Indiana Jones and the Golden Circle. The gameplay is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the action will go over a typical gamer's head. There's also Indy's snarky outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from pulp literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just adventures- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Indiana Jones and the Golden Circle truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the gameplay in Indy's usage of his whip," which itself is a cryptic reference to adventure serials, most notably Zorro. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Todd Howard's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂

And yes, by the way, i DO have an Indiana Jones tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
