Turns out the unpacking video of God of War: Ragnarok special editions was full of hints about how big this game really is.

Edit: Turns out it's not news as SSM did confirm that all reams are in the game already.

Gay porn is where it's at.
this game is gonna be MASSIVE since it's supposed to be the finale of the franchise's Norse saga, so we'll probably see all popular norse mythology characters and locations
i just hope it's both quality and quantity

This game will be amazing.

It also bugs me cause SSM has always delivered some of the best and most complete games...

Well except GOW3 where there was no NG+ and all skins were behind paywall, Sony fucked up here, but GOW3 was still amazing game and incredible experience tho

(Even tho still was super pissed at lack of NG+ and unlockable stuffs lol)

There are plenty of games I played for over 100 hours that didn't get (or feel) repetitive.

A well crafted game is a well crafted game, regardless of length.
Exactly. If it’s great then I don’t see the problem. I’ve played and enjoyed games for several hundred hours. Things get repetitive when there isn’t enough content and variety, not because a game you love keeps on giving you more awesome things to do.

I haven't watched the video but I'm 99% certain they said you can travel through all the realms shortly after they announced it. Also, in the collectors unboxing I think they did mention travelling through all the realms?

Yes, I mostly just wanted more, more armour, more skills, more enemies to smash. Couldnt get enough from using my blades of chaos to own enemies.

Who said that? It was pretty obvious this game will bigger than the first one. They're using the same engine and many of the same assets. Where else development time would go if not to create a bigger world with longer campaign?

I wonder how this will work.

In the first game only one realm was “open”. The story ones were all linear and the side ones were pretty much generic trash.

Here's some of many,
I am yet to see why this is not being sold as dlc for the original GOW, I have played GOW recently on my ps4pro and I am not that excited about the ragnarok
Not surprising. Same engine, same approach. Ragnarok looks, and feels more like dlc than a sequel.
This doesn't make any sense.

It's a new package filled with new work from Blizzard.

It's just as valid as God of War Ragnarok (they both look like DLC to the first games). It's their imperative to charge what they think they can get.
I think the reason here is how Guerrilla, Insomniac, Polyphony Digital, and Santa Monica has approached cross gen, which makes this look like DLC. It comes from the iterative succession of these games rather than feeling like a revolution.

When we look at gaming sequels, particularly gaming sequels on different generations of consoles, we expect significantly bigger games and better gameplay, not just higher resolution and framerate.

God of War 2018 runs at 1080p30 on base ps4.

So their answer is just to do 4K60 on PS5. Honestly, that isn't enough to get most people excited.
I'm seeing a pattern in the avatars here.

I think this game will be pretty long and will take a long time to 100% if you’re a completionist. They have probably used these 4 years to make a much bigger game compared to GoW 2018, since most of the essentials were already there.

I agree, should be enormous like Elden Ring

Hope there are more variety in the enemies roster and the great boss battle make the return.

Cory talked about that in the documentary (Raising Kratos.. I think) how they pretty much ran out of time and had to cut a bunch of stuff. I'm confident they'll rectify that issue I expect a lot of variety.

David Jaffe said that at the initial reveal because he thought rightfully so that there was no way the game was coming out that fast and that it had to be DLC. Now when he says it's DLC he's just trolling he isn't serious.
And some are still taking this uninformed take to heart and it's obvious why they're doing it. Pathetic if you ask me.

Yes but some games work better when they are more focused.

This is true for any game but the length of the game doesn't determine whether it's focused or not. For example Elden Ring is highly focused and it's not uncommon for first run playtimes to exceed 100 hours.

I haven't played it, but From Software games seem to be properly curated and crafted. Assassin's Creed games became very repetitive to me and the side missions were lacking in quality.

The dlc feeling was never about scope, but because the reveal was a bit samey in graphic and animations, for many it felt like a small upgrade visually.

Sure the game still looks better than many many games but that was not the point.

Tlou1 remake is gonna look better than most games but that doesn't mean that it doesn't look a bit too much like tlou2 in a much more powerful console.

3 are entirely new. Only 3 in 2018 were properly explorable to begin with. And there are only 9 realms in Norse mythology. You're saying they should invent new ones?

I knew this timeless excuse will be used.

"We reduced scope of out game cause we are limited by mythology".
