Pleased to see JTV, American Crime and This is Us represented. Well deserved!

Edit: oh and Zootopia, Moana and Stranger Things as well!

It looks like those categories aren't in the list yet.

Yeah, looks like it's not complete (yet), as tv drama isn't included.

Best Picture, Comedy or Musical
Deadpool

Nice to see Mel's name back in awards contention.

And glad Joel Egerton is getting recognition for Loving.

Toni Erdman nominated for best foreign language film? Haven't seen it but it is all the rage in the German Feuilleton. I saw some people going mad when it didn't win in Cannes. I wonder how salty they'll get if it doesn't win. It did win the European Film prize though, of which existence I learned two days ago.

I've really got to see Moonlight and Hell or Highway error. The former was filmed where I grew up, just seeing the trailer gave me a pang of nostalgia.

Fucking Nocturnal Animals and Deadpool? Ahahaha. Congrats to the rest, tho. Really solid set of nominees.

Gibson has it in the bag.

Hope deadpool wins lol
If the owner of that bag is Damien Chazelle, then I agree. I love Gibson and all, but La La Land's gonna swept the entire awards season.

Lion looks pretty bad. Are the trailers just terrible, or is this another case of a movie only being in the running because of Harvey Weinstein?

Best Foreign Language Film
Divines
Elle
Neruda
The Salesman
Toni Erdmann

Yes! I hope The Salesmen will win award, but Toni Erdmann is a big rival there.

This is pointing further in the direction of Hacksaw Ridge being the surprise dark horse for awards season. One can hope that Lionsgate can capitalize on this kind of momentum, but we'll see.

So pleased to see Evan Rachel Wood get a Best Actress nom.

But nothing for Anthony Hopkins? That's some bullshit.

Surprised that Hacksaw Ridge got recognition. Wonder if this will carry on with other awards or if it's just a Golden Globes thang.

Aiii

So not worth it
Best TV Series, Drama
The Crown
Game of Thrones
Stranger Things
This Is Us
Westworld

Great nominations all around, though I suppose Better Call Saul should have been nominated, and I would have pushed out GoT for that, even though they had a great season coming off of a mediocre one.

Hard to pick a winner out of them, really. Something in it for everyone. I'd go for This Is Us, great first half of the season, best drama on air right now.

Glad to see Evan Rachel Wood get a nomination. A sensational performance by her. A shame neither Hopkins nor Wright were nominated though.

Anthology shows count as miniseries, yes.

I never knew they wanted to tell a different story next season. Interesting.

It's been racking up a fair few nominations at other places. There's some genuine steam in that engine.

Dev Patel is a supporting actor in his own movie? Or did I fail to grasp what the movie was about based on the marketing? (His face is on the posters, etc.)

When Stranger Things aired, one of the few things people on GAF were openly critical of was Winona Ryder's acting. Then she gets a Golden Globe nomination. lol.

Those are really great nomination especially for Golden Globes. Only slightly questionable nominations on the movie side are Jonah Hill and Viggo Mortensen (Isn't Captain Fantastic supposed to be a comed?).

Best Foreign Language Film category might be better than the Oscars have ever had.

"leading" vs "supporting" is so weird sometimes.

Thandie Newton and Lena Headey having to fight for a "supporting" actress award kinda rubs me the wrong way.

Loved Stranger Things but hated her performance.

i think people's main issue was it being rather one note. I think people would have appreciate some kind of arc / nuance to her character. From ep 1, all the way to 10 she portrayed the same "everyone thinks i'm crazy but i'm not. please please, you of all people HAVE to believe me. I know i'm not crazy" person.
