Steam curator warns players if Sweet Baby is involved in a game

Gosh she really is just an awful person with very little redeeming qualities

There is no way I could A) be a terrible person and B) still somehow be successful. If I acted the way she does publicly at any jobs I've had I'd be homeless now

She has the brain power of a five year old. If we brought back mental institutions, there’s a high chance she’d be in one.

Page is up, it lists all the games created with a consultant firm like SBI

Excellent. I’m sure the comrades will have no issue with their portfolio on display like this.

This is wild. Apparently the founder of Surgent Studios, Abubakar Salim, that just developed Zau Tales of Kenzera had a company set up with him and the Sweet Baby Inc founders called “Bebe Sucre” (sweet baby). Sounds like a shell company for Abubakar Salim to enrich himself off the publisher provide funds for DEI consulting projects/checkmarks. Funnelling consulting funds to companies you have ownership in is really suspect. Should be investigated by EA, the publisher. People asked, why would a Kenyan need to outsource the writing of his story…. Probably to get a cut of the funding dollars I’m guessing.

And of course anyone who dares call him out for this obvious theft will be called RACISTS. Amazing how much privilege some people today truly have.

Seeing Ubisoft dragged out over Assassins Creed Shadows and their appropriation of a historical footnote to be some main character samurai reminded me of this thread.

It’s not surprising as Kim Belair, founder of SBI, was ex Ubisoft Montreal Narrative the studio in charge of Shadows. Her viewpoint must be ingrained there and Ubisoft is still a client of theirs.

Here’s some of her rambling about why you won’t see a white male lead in any of the work she touches.

Kim Belair should play Stellar Blade. You play not only as a female, but a full Asian (Korean) female! I say “full” because Kim is half white.

But I've been told on good authority by gaf members that the Japanese are the racist ones and anyone criticizing these things is a nazi..

(Yes there's actually a thread right now with a poster calling everyone a nazi like it's resetera because... wait for it... they criticise ubisoft)

It’s the usual 10 folks, too. They do this every chance they get.

I wish there was some actual quality investigative journalism in the video game industry.

I came across this story of a DEI head at Facebook and Nike. They store $5 million through kickbacks to them from companies they set up to funnel DEI funds to.

It reminded me of this:

If any one has a contact that can research this in more depth, it would be very interesting to see if where there is smoke there is fire.

A friend recently told me about the game "Wagadu Chronicles", developed by a Berlin-based studio that was explicitly all about diversity. Their founding from several sources: 175.000 Euro from the German taxpayer, an undisclosed amount from Riot Games and 163.000 Euro through a Kickstarter campaign. A few months ago, the alpha came out - and it looks and plays like one would expect, almost complete trash. With microtransactions front and center.

Then this announcement came:

Dear Wagadians,

It is with deep regret that we announce the upcoming shutdown of The Wagadu Chronicles MMO. Despite our relentless efforts, Twin Drums has not found a sustainable path forward to continue supporting and developing the game.

The last day online will be the 18th of May 2024.

We are really grateful to each and every one of you who spent time in Wagadu, creating memories and bringing this world to life. Your engagement and the incredible feedback you provided represent invaluable lessons to our team.

With your interactions, roleplaying and inputs, you ARE Wagadu. You have moved us forward.

Wagadu was more than just a game—it was a beautiful little virtual space that became a reality, because of your love. We truly thank you for making it possible and for joining us on this unique journey.

While this is very sad news, we very grateful for you as players and we hope you carry forward the spirit of Wagadu in other gaming adventures, virtual or tabletop.

Thank you.

The Twin Drums Team

The backers of the kickstarter campaign won't get any printed books, and there won't be a refund. Also, the developers apparently went on racist tirades against white people in the Discord. Just the cherry on top of this courageous project / scam.
