i still need to finish BotW, buying TotK would feel like a waste of 60 euros of the former
I think some people need to understand the BotW 1.5 complaint a bit better. The last time we got a 3D Zelda game that used the same engine and gameplay from its predecessor was OoT and MM. But those games released pretty close from each other.
There’s 6 years between BotW and TotK. And if you miss the old Zelda formula, you’ve gone more than a decade at this point since the last time you got that. With OoT and MM, the concept was at least wildly different. But TotK looks, plays, and feels like BotW. Even a lot of the music is the same. The Game Over jingle that plays is even the same. So after 6 years, there are some people who were hoping for something more.
Ultimately I think it's fine, but if the next Zelda game is going to be BotW 3, that's when I think people are going to have a real problem.
Well, you can't expect a revolution every 5 years, after Ocarina of Time it didn't happen either, but tbf Nintendo was always clear this is the "sequel" to Breath of the Wild with the same artsyle on very similar hardware, i bet they did the best they could.I suppose I was expecting more than BotW 1.5. I’m sure it’ll be very fun, and a great game, but after 6 years this ain’t exactly the next evolution of Zelda.
I wonder if people can get in legal trouble playing this before launch. It's not there yet I'm afraid, the emulation on PC has a few issues for sure. Doesn't run on Yuzu at all and has shadow artifacts on Ryukinx but it's good to see a good start. Apparently the 30 FPS mod runs very well ( by default it runs at 20 on emulators it seems) but the 60 has sped up cutscenes.

Breath of the Wild was a new template, this one is polishing and improving it with new mechanics, next generation they can do so much more
You misunderstand what makes a sequel. Some similar tunes and visuals mean nothing, its about the gameplay. The interactivity. Which is radically different in Tears.I think some people need to understand the BotW 1.5 complaint a bit better. It's not.It looks pretty similar to me in terms of gameplay.
It's not.
Do you have examples of sequels that actually fit your description while also being a fantastic game? Cause there ain't many.
Have you played it? It's quite a bit different.I know Sequels play similar, I'm not arguing against that. I never wanted a sequel to BotW, so I guess you can consider that the crux of the issue for me. But when people are like "Oh it's very different from BotW" that's where I disagree.
Quick 60FPS test @4K downsampled to 1440p of very early gameplay:
Other than a few stutters thx to shader compilation, it's perfect.
Have you played it? It's quite a bit different.
Certainly more different than most games the industry puts out. It's a derivative industry - the "it's the same" narrative just always seems so disingenuous. Especially when BOTW was one of the most "different" games we'd seen in some time.
People love to say things like this and then go: "Gee, why is that company losing so much money. All they did was make a whole new game from the ground up and using brand new tech."New overworld map, new music, new character models, new UI, and maybe upgrade from a graphics engine that was made to run on a system from 2012
This isn't a spoiler since I'm just speculating but I believe in one of the trailers it is broken so I'm assuming that happens in the beginning of the game.I do wonder what story excuse there will be for not having the Master Sword available at the start.
The Wind Waker is one of my favorite games, and did a lot of cool things, but still somewhat traditional beyond the presentation change.and it was a commercial failure at the timeI mean WW came out 4 years after OOT, but I don't disagree with most of what you're saying, even if I am whelmed.
BTW, how long until these "too good to be mundane" people cry about a "poor innocent victim of evil corporation of Nintendo" when they use the law to pursue and strongly punish the leakers of TOTK?
They're bitting themselves in the ass by messing with Nintendo for then internet crying out loud about "uNfAiR tReAtMeNt". Sorry, you play stupid games, you gain stupid prizes.
Today's internet definitely needs some "anti-spoilers" filters for content that we should be able to apply at discretion...The worst shit these days is people who post videos on YT and literally put spoilers in the video title and/or thumbnail.
What if he/she DOESN'T want to see spoilers of a game they want to play on YouTube thumbnails while lurking in the feed? Some of you really hate that people like Nintendo, as if that was some deathly sin lolNintendo and its billions thank you for your free contribution. Please keep buying, simping and dedicating your life to next Nintendo product.
I feel kinda the same but because I wanted to find all non-DLC shrines before starting it, but 200 hours in I haven't been able to... IDK where else to look at, I should just make peace with myself and move on with that "debt" loli still need to finish BotW, buying TotK would feel like a waste of 60 euros of the former
It gets broken at the beginning.I do wonder what story excuse there will be for not having the Master Sword available at the start.
Which is pretty amazing since the blade has never been broken in Zelda history ever.It gets broken at the beginning.
Blade of Evil's Bane. Shattered. Oh boy.Which is pretty amazing since the blade has never been broken in Zelda history ever.
Quoting myself from another thread:
That's obviously not normal, but there are 30 & 60 fps mods.Stuttering on emulator is catastrophic, how people can play like that ?
Lol, get a better PC....Stuttering on emulator is catastrophic, how people can play like that ?
Almost certainly normal due to shader caching. it should chill out once they’re cached or someone can compile them all for a separate downloadThat's obviously not normal, but there are 30 & 60 fps mods.
Check post #218
More like caves are in.What spoilers in a Zelda game?
Ganon is the final boss?
Link to save Zelda?
More like caves are in.
And there is another world below a giant map

Not being mad at Nintendo for trying to run a business without cheaping out on their products is not "simping", it's just understand other's business. Games are luxury. Its not a sin to hate nintendo. I like nintendo. Its a pathetic thing to simp for a corporation and gloat about it on a forum. I can already read the letter that says "thank you corporation, the high cost of your software was the only thing that got me through this hard time, please dont ever change. I dont have anything or anyone else. Please notice me"
If you dont want to see spoilers, dont go to the website. You will not die from that. Plenty of stuff to invest time in.
Very rough and patchy information i could gather so far:Anyone knows the story yet? Just put it in spoilers if you have information. I don't mind spoilers, in fact to me it's just more in depth previews.
Keep fighting for the family friendly company, theyll give you a job there. Not being mad at Nintendo for trying to run a business without cheaping out on their products is not "simping", it's just understand other's business. Games are luxury.
Also it's shit that one have to avoid wanting to relax watching something on youtube by fear of being spoiled. What should be done is offer filters for those that don't want to get spoiled. In this day and age it should be a mandatory feature.
So they did exactly what I've been hoping/moaning about since years ago. They took BOTW and completed it. As a result BOTW is effectively outdated. It's pretty much the unfinished beta version of a full Zelda game we have now. It's a very interesting game design for sure, it kinda renders the old game obsolete in some ways. It seems to have everything you can think of FROM the old game but added on content and it's a games worth of content.
"already"? the console is 6 years old. Emulation has been working very well for a long time nowIs Switch emulation already as advanced as Wii U?
