Watching the stream. Even though I live in Münich, I don't think i'll ever be considered a local here. The way they greet the players is just hilarious to me.

Bavarians ey.

I already can see the headlines... 'Obnoxious Germans making fun of blind WW1 soldiers'

As an Argentine fan, we'd be equally if not more insufferable had we won it all. I can't hate on the Germans for going a bit overboard in their celebration. They won the final match, fair and square.

Enjoy your time in the sun, Germany.
They're not even going overboard tbh.

This is pretty disingenuous.

If I ever go to Argentina and sing shit about Maradona I'm not going to expect hugs and kisses and people to be cool headed about it.

Of course you are not going to get any hugs but the song doesn't in any way insult Pele, the only line that mentions him is precisely Maradona is greater than Pele, while the 1000 goals does insult Maradona if I'm right, talking about his drug problems in the last line. There is a song which says Pele has more cups than Argentina and I can't do anything about that.

I insist the problem is that had this been between any match between Argentina and Brazil it would have been common. But they came to every game with another country's jersey rooting against us everytime instead of just watching the game. While the game was on everyone was fucking nervous and if you have one guy next to you making fun of you or shouting Ole in the 1st minute, tell me if that's not provoking. When you are watching club footbalI each team's supporters are separated while here they were not. I don't know if this happened in the Copa America when Brazil played, at least I'm sure we don't buy Chile's and Paraguay's jersey when they face Brazil.

I remind you I'm speaking for myself. I would never go to a Brazil game just to root against them. If I want to do that I stay at home. Also when they call us "argentino... viado (3 seconds later)" in the streets just for wearing a jersey well you are not going to see me very happy. That's my experience, sorry.

People in Brazil bought a lot of jerseys during the World Cup, they didn't buy them specifically to root against Argentina, even if they were rooting against Argentina.

But really, people were singing "Brasil, tell me how you feel" at Brazilian stadiums full of Brazilian people. I guess these people simply answered that call.

That Holocaust memorial is weird anyway, school classes playing hide & seek, climbing on it and stuff. Maybe actually a good sign, but probably not intended.

Thank you, no one said what was that about I had trouble understanding why someone on top of some odd buildings was a bad thing.

The thing will probably get tear down. It was a almost impressive fuckup on all accounts

Passes this world cup.

Neuer: 244 passes

Messi: 242 passes

Mueller: 221 passes

Robben: 201 passes
Not this again. Sorry but this proves little. Neuer is better than Messi confirmed by Mainthemiror!

And of course that takes little away from Neuer's outstanding goal keeping during the cup.

I don't think it should prove that Neuer is better than Messi and all the other players.

It's just impressive how well Neuer was intregrated in the German tactical concept. He was way more than a fantastic goalkeeper.

Or you know, you start your build-up from the back and your Defenders don't have an immediate open teammate to pass it to, so they just pass it back to the GK.

Good, that Germany didn't have that kind of problem.

The high pass rate is more a result of the high defensive - so Neuer was often a sweeper style player.

Many Brazilians are uneducated bastards that don't know where to stop, and I say that as a brazilian. You can't expect logic in the brazilian behavior in situations like that, specially when they are drunk. Trust me, I see a lot of brazilians using Argentina shirts with Messi written on the back on the streets everyday (it's not a world cup phenomena), or Barça kits with Messi instead of Neymar. Lots of Corinthianos dream with the return of Carlitos and Marcherano; Dalessandro is an Idol on Internacional, like many other argentines became idols in brazilian clubs. Brazilians love what we call "raça argentina", when the players play with their hearts, never giving up during the matches. If it was Argentina losing by 7 instead of Brazil, the players wold have kept their heads up, the supporters would still be singing, while brazilians were devastated and booing our team. So there's this secret admiration and even some envyness. But you know, we're too proud to assume it.

But there's this rivalry, and from time to time we receive informations of a argentine broadcaster calling brazilians of 'macaquitos', the "Olé" newspaper always with provocative headlines against us, and some people try to retaliate.

On the other hand, the brazilian broadcasters tend to reinforce this rivalry just for the audience. There's one that says "Winning is good. Beating Argentina is even better!"

It's part of the fun, I guess. Don't take it so seriously. Brazilians have low self esteem. That's why they do this kind of things.

FUCK YOU, YOU RUINED EVERYTHING YOU FUCKING BASTARD. WAS ALMOST PROUD OF MY COUNTRY FOR ONCE

Meh, that is one random asshole.

Germany should be very proud. The soccer win is cool. But I think the greatest thing they've done for the world is push so hard into green energy. They bought and installed lots of green energy (while it was still expensive) thus creating a mass market for it. The existence of a mass market caused lots of companies to invest and do product research. The price of solar PV and wind has come waaaay down in the past 10 years. This has come at a great cost to Germany since they bought a lot of it when it was still expensive but the rest of the world can now enjoy lots of great low-cost green energy technology. It is a true gift to the world that the rest of us should really thank Germany for.

Of course I know it's part of the fun, that's why I don't get angry because of a song. It's that after 1 month there I was getting really tired of it, if you know what I mean.

I talked with many brazilians about football and players that played in brazilian teams, why sabella left otamendi, tevez out, and it was all fine but like I said in a previous post when someone from working for a TV channel comes makes fun of us after we lost the fucking final well don't blame me if I get pissed. It's all in the past now.

As you say, I was suprised by the reaction of the brazilian crowd towards your team. Even if Brazil ended with a terrible performance shouting "Ole" at your own team is something I would never do.

Also never pay attention to "Ole" newspaper. It's a shitty newspaper and their headlines make fun of anyone. They always use a play on words or popular phrases.

Pretty good (German) article on the victory celebration, purported image v reality: http://www.faz.net/aktuell/feuilleton/medien/tv-kritik-empfang-der-weltmeister-so-gehen-gauchos-13047240.html

Unfortunately the first person to bring a halt to the fun is always a German. Too paranoid about their own image and how they are seen in the world.

The celebration was silly, but nothing to write home about.

Sorry dude, that's a terrible article.

I remember this news outlet talking a while ago about the ludicrous PC standards of today. Irony is lost on these guys.

America people who have directv.

So I see that they have maybe 8 channels 480-488 or something labeled as UEFA. Do they show all games on those channels for free? That would be grand.

Otherwise I see I can get fox soccer channel for like $15/month and the MLS package for the whole season for $80 one time charge. They don't give any sort of pricing for "international soccer" on their site.

any ideas?

My parents have directv. I think those channels are the Fox Soccer channels.

Man, sometimes you wish, more than any other event, that some players would have just been a bit younger or older. Could you imagine if Bati was in this era with Messi? He'd put all those Higuain misses in and look damn good doing it, too. Dat Hair. That's what makes the world cup format so unfortunate sometimes, even though I think the durational wait is great. Or, imagine if the world cup was 2008 and not 2006, Riquelme with an older Messi? Divine. Screw you, Perkerman. Still upset about 2006. In fact, 2006 was so upsetting to me that I literally cannot remember that world cup for the life of me.

BATI!

Batigol was awesome. I had a Nintendo Fiorentina shirt with his name. Then all my high school friends ostracized me for being a nerd.
