Watch Dogs Legion Xbox Series X vs RTX 3080 Ray Tracing 4K Early Graphics Comparison

You're right I forgot about DLSS and even then 3080 only gets 45 fps with RT on ultra. Omg XsX is a Monster ! :messenger_face_screaming:

DLSS is beehive knees etc etc

XSX is indeed a monster of a console.
Getting 2080Ti like performance, imo is good news for gamers.

if you were smart you would know how much detail can be stripped out if you render an already rendered video (XSX RT video) especially if you reupload to youtube
so its not a fair comparison even because if I head into the original video of the XSX the image will definitly be sharper.

Also, just wait until digital foundry vid.

Lower video quality doesn't remove reflections, people shouldn't be offended by this because there is no way a console is going to compete with a high end card 1 to 1 and it shouldn't be expected to.

For XSX, Minecraft RT indicates otherwise.

Not all SRAM cache is designed the same when BiG NAVI's 128MB Infinity Cache was based on Zen 2's L3 cache.

XBO's 32MB eSRAM was pretty stupid i.e. was NOT transparent for games that need to be software programming targeted.

Demolished.. For a 500 dollar console with an AMD APU it looks pretty good to me.

Embarrassing performance by Xbox, they might as well pack it up and go home. Preorder canceled.

Not embarrassing in any way, and the game looks bad on any platform actually outside of the environments. Art direction is just not good.

But when you hype your product through the roof like MS did, you set people up for disappointment when it doesn't deliver that much.

Just wait for all the XSX exclusives, built from the ground up, optimized and coded to the metal for the XSX and the XSX only! Then you'll see what this machine is truly capable of!

Oh.. Wait... 🙄

Honestly the graphical difference is more pronounced than I'd have expected this early in the new gen. So glad I opted out of consoles and went for a new PC.

Op posts bait thread and runs off. Seems legit. I guess he's one of those that claimed the ps5 is equal to a 3080. He's going to be very disappointed.

The opposite. He’s a member of the infamous Xbox discord and is one of the biggest Xbox fans on the internet.

Some actually did:

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ I anyways forget there's a lot of crazy people in this world

Not sure if any Raytracing in the XSX footage or just baked SSR
What's "baked SSR"? There's no way to precompute SSR unless you are talking about using a cube map to fake reflections and calling that SSR which is wrong.

And as always with you, please stop posting FUD. The watchdog legions trailer, confirmed to be running on XSX, is showing off-screen reflected objects on cars and buildings for example. Can you explain how can that be done using SSR?

This constant need to defend everybody's console of choice while bashing the other one doing empty claims it's killing this forum

These rainy night reflections make me think about how amazing GT7 rain tracks at night with ray tracing are going to probably look.

Not sure if any Raytracing in the XSX footage or just baked SSR, probably a patch will have it:

Baked SSR?

So you get all the disadvantages of Cubemaps/CaptureProbes/Planar Reflections but also all the disadvantages of Screen Space Reflections.....and literally none of the benefits?

Who the fuck would do that?

I take it you meant some other technique?
How would you even do that, you would need to have someone capture every single view the camera could possibly have including every single person/car/thing at which point just using an actual cubemap or captureprobe makes more sense.

Going by the resolution and frame rate the XSX is 2070/2070 Super range not 2080ti, this is of course using a ubisoft open world game as a benchmark which is ridiculous in its own right tho.

Expect ps5 to be very similar.

Nah, it's 2080 level. You are not getting this performance out of a 2070.

I hope Amd super resolution tech on its hardware ML can push XSX closer to 2080Ti(or edge past 2080S) with RT.

Nvidia performance strengthens are still RT and DLSS2.0.

If we stick to traditional rasterization with sprinkle of RT, XSX should compare favorable to 2080Ti/S.

We may see XSX games with performance mode (aka RT off), running just as well.

memetracing cant die fast enough. Artificial adding glossy surfaces and puddles everywhere to see reflexions of things that are already on the screen is such a waste of hardware and looks totally out of place. I have never seen a puddle reflect anything in reallife. I know its the latest nvidia gimmick and thats why everyone hypes it up because nvidia told them so.

Better on PC, but playing it would look the same. Actual fake reflections are enough for me, so imagine that tiny difference.

Use RT for global illumination or something meaningful, and stop wasting resources in damn puddles reflections.

And that goes for both consoles. I can't imagine the precious resources it eats to have RT reflections on Clank's metal surface. Something indistinguishable from fake reflections during gameplay.

Yep, XsX performs at 2080 level.

Did you even watch the video? The XsX comes out of this comparison very favourably.

What an embarrassing post.
Wait, you think this game looks.. good? I was very vague though - I'm not referring to the performance comparison per se, of course the XSX delivers a lot of bang for the buck, but in terms of games that actually look impressive and push the hardware like only exclusives can do? Nope.

Maybe it's just me - but honestly the more of this ray traced shit I see the less I can bring myself to care about it.

I was running a 1080 for a long time, but when one of my friends got a 3080 he lent me his old card (original launch model RTX2080) - I've been replaying some of the stuff I originally played on the 1080 and I'm deeply unimpressed. The biggest difference is on "RTX enhanced" games like Control - but that seems to be mostly because the graphics are gimped to fuck with RTX turned off compared to what some other titles have managed without using RT.

I'm getting a very strong "3D TV" vibe off this - it's technology that the vendors want to sell to you, but which actually provides minimal advantages to the user while adding cost and complexity.

Oh so you were not only trolling, you were off topic. Good to know.

How the game looks to you is irrelevant, this is comparing the Series X performance to a more powerful and more expensive GPU and it comes out very favourably against at it.

Well you're out of luck, because raytracing is the future.

I'm pointing out the hugely wasted potential with this box. But you're absolutely right - I am off topic here. I'll go complain somewhere else!

XSX is probably ~25% behind 6800. (XSX runs 4K with ultra effects at 60fps)
Which puts it against 2080Ti, in a traditional engine, of course
