I was just thinking if there is a Last of Us 2 Remastered, what exactly can they add. The game already has a 60fps patch. And I doubt Factions would be bundled with it as that's most likely standalone. With all remastered games we have had extras and not just graphic improvements. Death Stranding has extra stuff tools for the character to use. Ghost of Tsushima has Iki Island.
what do you mean. They can improve it in a thousand of ways, starting with getting rid of the ever-present LOD pop-in.
There is a lot of room for improvement in character model resolution, lighting, shadow quality, particle effects, foliage collision to reduce clipping, animation blending precision, despawning slain enemies... I could go on.
Watch the 2018 reveal gameplay. The game is a technical marvel but it's not flawless and I can't wait to see what are they cooking for the inevitable PS5 HD edition.

Are there other industries where fans froth at the mouth for what are essentially commercials for upcoming products?
AAA games are too few, imagine if we had only like 4 TV shows we could potentially love in a year, or even if it were only 4 detective TV shows in a year? People would be waiting for announcements with baited breath. Oh, and 5 years old TV shows would already look as dated as something from 50s, so unless you watched them before and loved them with power of nostalgia, they probably wouldn't excited you much.

Comic book movies and star wars stuff...

So basically, other nerd media lol

Both of those industries have turned to shit though. Now anime and manga is where it's at....

Hopefully anime and manga don't go the same way but I fear that big corporations want to do the same thing Disney did to Star Wars and Marvel to that.

If they show off some indies they’ll be criticized for not showing off their AAA lineup, if they show off the AAA then we’ll get shit articles from people like schrier or grubb saying they don’t care about indies. Lose/lose either way for them really.
Yup — but I guess to be expected. It's the norm. It'd be weird if no one made a fuss. lol

Yeah, seeing what the next God of War has in store for us would be nice. Right now I want to see what the story arc will be but gameplay would definitely be nice. But kinda hoping for a new Uncharted :D

Given how quiet they've been, and that they're only bringing a 40 minute show, I'm getting this is representing whatever their big holiday push is going to be - seems like COD at this point - and extended looks at early 2022 games like Horizon. I wouldn't go in expecting God of War footage; feels like that's something they'd use to advertise the event.

Edit:
I stand corrected ; GoW is expected to make an appearance.

September 9th...showcase begins, screen is pitch-black and we hear a familiar voice, "Hello everyone..uhm...this is Hasan Kahraman" Mr Kahraman starts glitching and we hear a a loud and familiar alert (!). We see BlueBox logo turning into "BluePoint A Playstation Studio". Finally after some deafening silence we hear "Kept you waiting huh". A logo appears: Metal Gear Solid VI: a BluePoint Game in collaboration with Kojima Productions.
That's it for fanfic tonight.

I don't think you read my post properly I said what improvements other than graphics. Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima have new gameplay content. I was thinking maybe they can add some new weapons, a extra side mission etc, story sequence etc.

That is the dumbest take I have read. I know people like to be cautious and not get overhyped. But Sony haven't revealed shit for a while, the execs like Yoshida and Hulst has hyped the event up. It's not called State of Play. And you are just saying we will get more COD and Horizon. God of War is actually the minimum we should also get another megaton AAA announcement game reveal on top of God of War as Sony hasnt had one in ages.

Ah ok. In that case they could do any kind of a story expansion like left behind. But I’m guessing its gonna be a gfx overhaul somehow bundled with Factions 2

The more I think about it the more it makes sense to let Horizon skip this show. We got a Gamescom release date update. Today we got a pre order trailer. And let's not forget the dedicated State of Play around E3 time. I think Horizon will make a big splash at the Game Awards which be perfect timing as it would be 2 months before it's official release date.

So I've thought it through more and more out of the unannounced Sony first party projects.

Guerilla Games 2nd Project
Last of Us Remake and Factions
Spiderman 2

I personally think we will see Guerilla Games 2nd project. Spiderman 2 I can't see happening if they show off Spiderman DLC for Avengers game. Last of Us Remake and Factions I don't think we will get just yet until after a quick cash grab with a Last of Us 2 Remastered which I think will be revealed here or on outbreak day for a fall release. Guerilla Games 2nd project has been in the works since 2018. So it's one of the oldest games to be in development. I also think Horizon Forbidden West won't be shown here as we just had a Pre Order trailer today and Horizon will just be saved for Game Awards. This 2nd Guerilla Games project won't be a massive gameplay walkthrough, it will be more like a teaser trailer and be PS5 only to give PS5 fans atleast one PS5 only first party game to look forward to.

It wouldn't be the first time one studio has 2 upcoming games announced at the same time as inSomniac had both Rift Apart and Miles Morales upcoming.

I don’t want to argue about this, I’m sure you know why I’m saying this if you are a member of this forum.
Yes, as a member of thi forum I think you were claining they were 'dead' when you knew it wasn't the case due to their relatively recent exclusive releases and announcements that I highlighted -and another ones I may forget- while they are breaking sales and revenue records, because I assume you knew about them and you were expressing a hyperbolic fake concern.

How you people can still muster some hype for those events after last few years of constant dissapointment is beyond me.

Because we know Sony delivers in these events, as they did last year in the similar 2 events they had.

Any chance of SOCOM ever returning? It seems to have a pretty prominent fanbase.
Zero chances, unless they include some old PS2/PS3 Socom in their PS2 Classics and/or PS Now.

And so it begins

Bend's new IP was barely started a year ago, I think they won't show it here because it's still in early stages of development and will need some years to be released and that, while I think they will focus their show in late 2021 and 2022 games with maybe one or two 2023 games. All the other ones you listed seem prettly likely.

Imagine they really announced Knack 3 and mention it will be their only game to released day one on PC (and the only PS Studios game to be published Xbox).

But Sony haven't revealed shit for a while
In the last couple of months or so they announced GoTDC, Death Stranding DC, Uncharted 4 PC port, some cool indies, the acquisition of Housemarque, Nixxes and EVO, that they signed three new AAA 2nd party IPs coming from key people behind Destiny, CoD BO and AC, a game and anime partnership deal with Kadokawa (the parent company of From Software's and many other game publishers and devs plus a lot of anime), that Bend is working on a new IP, that PS Studios has over 25 games under development and that the plan to have more exclusives on PS5 than they ever had in any other previous console and also shown Horizon 2 gameplay for the first time.

Maybe they didn't show gameplay of unannounced big exclusives or shown their games, but they made many other important announcements in the recent months that also needed their spotlight, in addition to also leave the E3 and Gamescom attention focus for the 3rd parties, while saving their own big announcements spot for another time: this event.

I don't think you read my post properly I said what improvements other than graphics. Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima have new gameplay content. I was thinking maybe they can add some new weapons, a extra side mission etc, story sequence etc.
I think TLOU2 Director's Cut will be the typical next gen upgrade (up to 4K 60fps, dualsense and 3D features, shorter loadings some some additional minor visual upgrade) bundled with something else new that in this case would be the standalone TLOU2 multiplayer game and/or the TLOU1 remake. I think they alredy needed put too much work in the multiplayer and remake and TLOU2 already has been super successful as it has been so won't need to expand or improve TLOU2 itself too much. I think they must have been focusing on the MP and remake since TLOU2 launch.

My fanfic was similar: like that but the game being the Metal Gear remake instead.

After the 40 minutes show they will have a post show stream with the devs playing/talking about some of the shown games.
But yes, it will focus on games to be released this and next year, being -super likely- GoW one of them.

It was pretty obvious it would be shown after the September 2020 announcement, don’t need an insider for that. But I’m expecting major megatons, first show I’m going into with high expectations.
