Why din't they keep this on Sunday like the Xbox event ? On Sunday more people can watch live. Though I like the fact they announced this a week before the actual event. I hope there show gameplay even if it is not polished it is much better and the expectations are more realistic as well. In engine and CGI is a waste of time IMO

Things like Spider-Man 2, Factions and Death Stranding are sure to appear, what I hope is that Factions has a lot of PVE content and that Spider-Man 2 has graphics that surpass (by far) Forbidden West.

Besides, there are three things that would make me very happy (if only one were real):

- new medieval fantasy IP from Naughty Dog;
- a new Astro game that takes advantage of dualsense as well as the previous one (optional VR);
- Sunset Overdrive sequel.

There's no practical reason to keep the E3 timeslot with no E3 (other than maybe historical data of when audiences have tuned into their shows and streams in the past,) but MS does Sundays and nobody else books non-workdays for content announcements.

(Also, btw, i know we kids all love to watch these game announcements, but in reality, these are still business disclosures as much as they are tv shows.)

Agreed dude, I'm thinking of ghosting Gaf till after the showcase. Everyone keeps posting leaks and rumors and it's going to ruin a lot of the surprises. I don't take personal issue with anyone posting such things because it's a gaming forum of course, but would be nice to add spoiler tags and such.

If all the rumoured/speculated games are actually in a state to show off this week, then I'm not sure they will - there's space for 3rd-parties as well:

Could be there:

• Spiderman 2 (rumoured to be available later this year, so needs to start getting the marketing rolling)
• Last of Us Factions (how long has this been under wraps - probably revealed)
• Wolverine (teased before, insomniac seem to be the most efficient devs and could easily have another short trailer)
• Cory's game (much rumoured, presumably in production for a while now)
• Sucker Punch next game (Ghost of Tsushima 2? - been a while since GoT)
• Housemarque game (they are presumably working on something since Returnal was a "launch window" release)
• BluePoint game (MGS remake rumour mill and again Demon's souls was a launch title so it's been 3 years)
• Haven Studio's game (so good Sony bought the studio?)
• London Studio's game
• Guerilla's next thing (Horizon mulitplayer thingy)
• Astrobot 2 (likely candidate for VR treatment)

Less likely:

• Deviation game?
• Firewalk game?
• Sony Bend?

3rd-Party:

• MK1 (seems a lock)
• FF7 next instalment / SE block
• Pragmata? / Capcom block
• Death Stranding 2?
• Konami stuff?

This is just of the top of my head - and there are potentially a fair amount of PS studios reveals (of things that are well-known already) - and then there's 3rd-party stuff and potential surprises. I suspect it will actually be quite constrained. Even if certain things could be shown off/are ready, there's no need to reveal things too early and put pressure on meeting deadlines etc.

I'm going to be happy to see something completely new/un-rumoured, as I'm not particularly interested in many of the things that are apparently coming - should be fun.

So my guess is that it won't meet expectations of many people simply because it's not in the dev teams interests to put together demos/slices for this sort of thing unless it's the beginning of a marketing push before release.

They even pinned this tweet, I expect hope that they show something. Even better if it's a Syphon Filter reboot, or it's related in any way, shape or form.

The only thing I’ve heard from people who might know is a potentially accidental mention of another iteration of TLOU2 (which doesn’t excite me. I’ll probably buy it if it is a thing but I’m not hyped about it).
The other rumours and leaks on the web haven’t really hyped me either.
I’m hyped for the showcase and hope there is something in there that’ll blow me away but so far…

haha yeah you'll be disappointed. Medieval IP by ND would be hype but if you expect anything other than TLOU Online and maybe TLOU2 PS5+PC you'll get less than you ask for. Sunset Overdrive is not happening. MS will not give the publishing right to Sony for the first one and having just the sequel for PS5 is a sure way for nobody to buy it since they don't know the original. Insomniac will just make the next Ratchet game and continue building off of Rift Apart. Remember that they have a multiplayer game cooking too (Resistance reboot?).
A full AAA Astro game is quite possible to be shown though. They do push for it to be a kid friendly mascot. But yeah I agree that it should be a base PS5 game first and later on add PSVR2 content like Resident Evil. If they make it a fully fledged PSVR2 game, the IP will never take off.
I expect Death Stranding to be a bone thrown for SGF so I don't think it will be here.
Spiderman 2 will have great graphics. They've been working on it for so long and Rift Apart is gorgeous, so their render tech will be breathtaking after 2 years.
