its availabe on PS4 you know. which is where majority of people played final fantasy 7 remake. i think it would be wise to maybe just play it there instead of hoping for an xbox port that may or may not exist.
People have the right to ask for a 3rd party games. This doesnt give you the authority to tell them to get another console. That game isnt exclusive to PS systems.

I appreciate your advice but I am not going to buy an old gen console to play FF7R "the worse edition" so to speak. Indead, FF7R and persona 5 were the games that I was really annoyed that were not released on xbox (at least I got FF on PC and a I played it, but I admit I did not enjoy it a lot.)

I'm unaware of any FF7 titles that have ever left the PlayStation farm save a mobile entry or two and the PC releases of the original FF7 and recently FF7R. To date, FF7 titles like Crisis Core and Dirge Of Cerberus have never even been rereleased and you still require old hardware to play them. So I'd say the chances of FF7R coming to Xbox are slim to none. FF7 has always primarily been a PS exclusive with the OG game eventually showing up on PC and Before Crisis being pn Japanese mobile.

I think it will never come out on Xbox and neither will FFXVI, due to moneyhats.

No big loss though.

I have conspiracy theory that Square are not allowed to show anything related to FFXVI unless Sony allows them to do so, on Sony game shows or events.

I have the feeling Sony will buy Square outright, because what is really the point in securing exclusivity for every single title when you could just buy the company whole hog.

As primarily an Xbox owner that sucks, but I guess that sorta thing is reality now.

For people crying about this, you are pathetic, truly bottom of the barrel considering what MS has been doing.

What MS has done has to do precisely with Sony buying Big Thirds party games obscenely taking advantage of its position of dominance to not appear on XBOX. Examples like this FFVIIR.

In the end, crying goes through neighborhoods depending on whether it is MS or Sony who takes out the wallet.

I think every 3rd party has a baked in timed exclusivity agreement, its just that sony advertises theirs for some reason. I dont think it means its mandatory that its gonna release on other consoles after said agreement is over.

Just like switch with bravely default, monster hunter, SMTV….

These deals are probably going to become more common given the cost of game development and the risks. So many big games have disappointed publishers with their sales it probably makes sense to take an upfront pay cheque that covers a big chunk of development costs.

Final Fantasy I am surprised as I think it would sell like crazy regardless; So Sony must have paid out the nose for that exclusive. Games like Forspoken I can definitely see the decision to take the upfront cash and reduce financial risk.

Honestly you aren’t missing anything. I spent £70 on it and it’s a shambles. The writing has to be one of the worst Iv ever seen. And the gameplay is pretty tedious.

I will never understand these kind of opinions xD.

But ok, its an opinions, nothing to get riled up about.
Imho its a fantastic game with some of the best writing in a JRPG and some of if not the best cast of characters.

On topic: Doenst look like it right now. But I dont know wheter its for contractual reasons (I think if it was they would have to disclose this publicly no?) or just because of priorities.

I would be more disappointed if Ubisoft games skipped Xbox couldn't care less about japanese games outside of fromsoftware and a few Capcom titles

And, it's a remake, i never play remakes, i think this industry is going down the drain with all these remakes, directors cut, remasters, collections and so on... Where's the originality? It's like Hollywood's superhero fix

Buying companies that are actively looking to be acquired, many in dire straits and having to bankroll and fund their games and staff as well as change corporate culture for ABK

vs.

Spending hundreds of millions of dollars for exclusive third party games that you had zero role in developing or creating with the sole intention to keep it away from Xbox and their gamers.

Yeah, you are correct, one is bottom of the barrel pathetic for sure.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on Tomb Raider and Dead Rising.

Must admit I find this take extremely strange.

Agree, the writing at times can rather cringe, but the combat, the settings and the overall polish of the game were second to none for me.

This was my first final fantasy game and at the end of it, I thought, it was simply outstanding.

Mind you, i got it for nothing with my sub so maybe that helped too.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Xbox fans salty and talking about moneyhats in the thread yet when FF games like Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin releases it sells like crap on xbox. I mean really really low figures.

What's the games total sales tally right now ?

I’ve played FF7R on PS4 the very day it came out, in fact I delayed selling my PS4 so I could play it. The only part I enjoyed was the Shinra building. The rest was just a drag gameplay-wise and the story… it was like Googling the name of your first crush from primary school and the entire page of results is scat porn videos.

It retroactively made me enjoy the original less and I will never stop hating this game. But I know I will have the last laugh when the remade quintalogy is finished and the entire circus of shitty characters introduced in the spin-offs is reused in some KH-tier bullshit conclusion. I wish I never played it. Honestly.

As for FFXV, it is without a doubt the biggest disappointment of last generation from my point of view and I’ve had a lot, being primarily an Xbox fan.

So yeah, I guess I’m salty but not for the reasons you think. I’ll be happy if FFXVI turns out half as good as, say, Tales of Arise.

Yeah I was sure it would be coming to Xbox alongside the PC version but it seems like Sony paid for an extra long console exclusivity.

Maybe by the time part 2 comes out ?.

Xbox? Psh, I'm still waiting to play intergrade / intermission on my PS4 :messenger_frowning_

That was a pretty shitty move by Square.
It's the only game in this ps4-5 transition that I can think of that locked substantial story DLC to the next gen version

Honestly, instead of spending billions on buying activision they should have been spending money to get a huge Japanese game like this onto their system. Phil dun goofed.

Aye. Somewhat arbitrarily, from what footage I've seen.

Though it does raise the question of whether they'd make it Series X exclusive for a prospective Xbox release.
MS is cutting xbox one now. From stalker 2, to flight sim, to starfield and redfall.
Only support xbox one has these days is 3rd party games. So I will expect that game to be xbox series.

This is the kind of stupidity that we all expect from emotionally attached fans who have trouble rubbing two brain cells together. Xbox gets shafted on all the big-name FF games and you wonder why nobody cares about a spinoff? And one that has bombed commercially and critical on all platforms? Seriously?

It almost writes itself.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on Tomb Raider and Dead Rising.

Perfect, you make it too easy.

Capcom has went on record to state that DR3 wouldn't exist without Microsoft funding (I don't know about DR4, tbh, but it seems Capcom doesn't care about the IP unless MS is interested).

RotTR is the game that shuts down the "but timed exclusives are better" narrative: Microsoft went that route while publishing the game in many regions and the virtriol and hatred sent their way was so crazy that it actually changed their corporate culture. That was when they stated they're backing down from timed exclusives to expand their 1P portfolio, you know, the thing that y'all fanboys mistook for "No timed exclusives ever again" and would rage whenever MS did have minor timed exclusives (as if you don't want them to compete).

This is why everytime the usual suspects say "it would have been better to get Bethesda games timed exclusive for Game Pass instead of buying them!!11" I literally LOL. I love when people bring up Tomb Raider.

Fun fact, Tomb Raider used to be multiplat on Sega and PS until Sony literally moneyhatted the sequel AND all future games permanently, leading people to believe the franchise was historically always tied to only PS. :) RIP Sega

Activision serves another purpose, which those japanese dont.

Activision can play huge role in the metaverse, with their IPs. Especially COD, int the vein of ready player one.

You're aware they have timed exclusives right now, right? Of course they aren't the same size as Tomb Raider but that shouldn't matter.
Hell, that average at best horror game was timed exclusive (forgot what it's called, the one with the woman and dual reality... The Medium?).
Fact is, they both do it, crying about one but defending the other is just dumb.

Metaverse is dumb. I think that's just their strategy of reminding regulators that Facebook exists. Everyone hates Facebook and it makes MS look better.
Its dumb on the eyes of normal people, just like how gaming was in the early stage.
Once this tech evolves, it will be the new stage for gaming.

Serious question, does people with Xbox care? You get Playstation for Japanese games...
Serious question? Does ps users care about US games? Cuz that is how stupid that question is.

It doesnt matter, where people play their games on. If 3rd party games isnt exclusive on those consoles, then people have the right to ask for them.

Its been 2 year so far now.

discuss? Sony was moneyhatting left and right to cut out Ms from games ...we don't know what deal they have with square but it is clear that something is there. also for this reason there has been the unprecedented escalation of acquisitions by Ms. As for the game itself .... I'm sorry for those who love FF .... but with all the RPGs that the Xbox will have from the end of the year onwards, I don't think anyone will miss this remake.

Well I fucked up but not saying "JRPG", obviously not Japanese. Apologies.

Now you are opening a new subject for me. Are the new FF titles or even resident evil "Japanese"?

What I mean is, aren't Japanese developers making their games more and more western in their style? what is "japanese" about them other than the company that made them?
