The only time Iger ever really interfered is when he said he hated the original third act of Rogue One and the result was a much better movie.

Still want to see that version out of morbid curiousity. They removed so much from the original trailer.

Loved the one released though.

There was a behind the scenes video around release that had footage of them filming that version. Cassian and K2 get killed at the bunker door.

Ah never saw that, just remember the Tie-Fighter looking dumb vertically appearing in front of Jyn. I imagine the new scenes included Vader and Leia, those truly made the film for me. At least the didn't kiss in that one scene, that was well played and the nuclear explosion on the beach was so well done.

K2: Noooo, sounds shit. The way they went out was another masssive moment (for me). My eyes sparkled when my Nephew gave me the figure for Christmas that year.

Feige is the number one producer you don't want to take control away from.

Odd for Chapek to do that. The word on him is that he is extremely cost-oriented, so why would he mess with a billion dollar formula, in the name of creative expression? Doesn't add up, but maybe he's more complicated than we thought.

Blinded by the prestige of a Best Picture win.

This movie was terrible. It was just plain boring and some of the cg looked really bad. The story and how they defeated this being was also silly when you don't see them using anywhere near enough power to do that. Like others have mentioned the bollywood scene was terrible and what I would expect a hollywood studio to make. The assistant was great but the movie was already stretched thin with all of the other characters so he still felt under utilized. The main heroine is mostly silent for most of the movie.

I just found it funny that the only reason they were able to win was because the main bad guy couldn't attack his old flame. He fights every one else but he won't lay a finger on her. Like all he had to do was just fly her away and he would have won. Like I don't think we actually ever saw her fight in the movie. Plus the only reason he doesn't have this all encompassing love for humanity is because he knows what the true mission is so he wasn't even really a bad guy since they were pretty much growing humans to feed the celestials. How could he ever think of them as anything more than livestock at that point.

I still don't get how the eternals weren't numb to humanity after seeing the aging, sickness, atrocities, wars, and deaths of humans over and over again for 7,000 years. I would think I would be an extremely cold hearted person knowing that this person that I'm spending time with die in no time.

Also the “we stand no chance against x even together” then individually they all take turns to kick x’s ass. Like what was that about! They could easily have won a team fight, no contest.
Yeah, that made no sense. I mean he eventually did turn things around and "defeat" them but I was expecting him to go all superman brought back from the dead style and just wrecking all of them. I'm guessing the agenda wouldn't have allowed that. Here is something that is bothering me why was the black eternal made overweight

Wut? Both Captain Marvel and Black Widow were directed by women and they have better reviews than this.
Black Widow was definitely better than this movie even if they messed up the bad guys. Captain Marvel is slightly better but that movie was also a train wreck for me the more I thought about the movie. and doesn't it seem like Captain Marvel could straight up destroy the majority of the eternals.

I never even understood what his power was unless I missed the explanation, he could invent stuff and conjure it out of his hands or something, but.. maybe being overweight was his super power? As Athena could also summon weapons

him being stood crying at the Hiroshima blast site was so fucking cringe, almost wiped that from my memory. Why would he even teach humans how to make nukes..it made no sense. Thinking about it that poor actor got almost all the shitty scenes

I always thought that the 70's was the greatest time for cinema, especially American cinema but cinema in general around the world.
The 80's was an ok era with many great highs (The Terminator, Back To The Future, Indiana Jones etc) showing that cinema was still a place to go.
The 90's was a massive high point for cinema and, in my opinion, the decade that really came close to being daring and original like 70's cinema was.

Flash for a decade or so and we have the Marvel era and I honestly don't remember a time cinema was so fucking BAD! Mind you, I loved Marvel (and DC) as a kid. These films (and the shit they have "inspired") have completely ruined cinema and all films around it. Seeing the trailers for this film was bad enough but then hearing the cast talk about how they believe they are practically saving the world was enough of a turn off. I really truly hope these new Marvel films don't do well because, as it stands, this is about as low as you can get for movies. Truly awful times we are living in...

OK moron, I'll put it to you that Back To The Future (a pure fantasy sci/fi film that one of the Avengers films tried to rip off with it's time travel concepts) is better than ALL of the Marvel films combined. None of them come close to the brilliance of BTTF 1, 2 or 3. Marvel films have ruined cinema, plain and simple.

Folks were saying this exact stuff about BTTF when it was out too. Same with original Star Wars and the advent of the blockbuster in general

We got plenty of good flicks from all genres. Check out Green Knight if you haven't

ROFL the Marvel sub on Reddit had to lock a post after the movie was banned in several Middle Eastern countries (there's a gay kiss in the movie). They're basically Era on steroids.

FWIW even straight intimacy scenes are censured. Marvel just insisted to keep this one.

I've heard the ban might be more related to the fact that the film is about gods, no idea if there is any truth to that. Were the Thor movies banned there?
No, all Marvel movies since Black Panther were available.

Before that, since Age of Ultron they all got released. I don't remember for sure what was released before AOU.

Edit:

Hulk Didn't, that's why it has a fake Chinese movie poster here.

Can he swing from a thread? Take a look overhead / Hey, there, there goes the Spider-Man
Just got done seeing it, liked it better then black widow but it’s was mediocre at best. Would have been better if some of these characters showed up in other movies 1st.

This movie is so boring that I actually did the unthinkable: I looked at my phone to pass the time on several occasions

Not sure which is worse, Black Widow or this. At least this movie had authentic accents, I guess. But then again I'm not sure why a 7000 year old alien has an Irish accent to begin with...

Please tell me they say "Conas ata tu?" and they reply "Ta me go maith". After their fight.

Which character is he out of curiousity?

Did that multiple times during Venom 2 and that was only 90 minutes.

My #1 complaint with Venom 2 is it required the time of like a 2.5 hour movie to build the true depth of Cletus the way Woody Harrelson as an actor could truly deliver on.

Instead it was an overly rushed pace still on a romantic relationship versus the super hero story. If Eternals is worse than Venom 2 then I have no faith left in Marvel.

I liked the sister more than any character in Eternals and I thought the action was actually better in Black Widow.
I would argue that the sister (Yelena) is the main good thing about the movie. Florence Pugh did a fantastic job. The beginning of the movie was somewhat decent, too.

Pretty much everything else in the movie sucks. The plot is dumb as fuck. The Rachel Weisz character sucks. The Red Guardian dude sucks. The villain sucks. Scarlett Johansson sucks, in her own movie. You can pick pretty much ANY other MCU movie she's in, and Scarlett is better in any of those than she is in Black Widow.

For me, WandaVision is still far and away the best thing about Phase 4 so far. Shang-Chi was decent, but other than those, everything else has ranged from "meh" to "Jesus, this fucking sucks." MCU Spidey has been kind of meh so far, so I guess it's gonna be up to Dr. Strange and (if they are indeed bringing them) the mutants, to get some juice into Phase 4.

I think Red Guardian ( omega red? ) and his wife were pretty cool though.

Villain,Sub villain and black widow herself was pretty shiet. But still it had cool imagery, Mission impossible like structure and cool 90s songs.

Eternals has zero reedeming quality sadly. Only thing made me giggle was that mind reader guy hitting small child with stone

In regards to the diversity complaints here... What is it about the diversity that impairs the movie, in your opinions?

Like, as far as I know, no one of the characters is harping on their race, disability or sexual orientation (I haven't seen it yet... I'm going to see it with two of my beautiful homegirls this evening). Like I would understand if a character or 3 was like "I'm black and you have to like it!" Or "I'm gay and fabulous you loser straights!" ... But I haven't gotten that impression anything like that stands out ... I keep seeing "the diversity hurts the movie and people see that!" ... But HOW is it doing that? Wouldn't you prefer folks just treat it as normal? That it's not a declaration every 5 mins to remind you that multiple characters are this race, that sexuality or whatever disability?

I really would like to know

I was considering seeing this this weekend. Glad I passed on it.

Regarding the standalone films, now that Ironman has finished (and the first was the best there), only Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor (only Ragnorok was good), and Dr. Strange interest me. That's a decent selection to be fair.

I still need to watch Shang-Chi, Loki, and Wandervision. At least they look promising.

Spiderman is pretty good, though I'm not a fan of the whole adolescent thing. Black Panther was okay. It played to a certain crowd and then was hyped up by them far too much though.

fundamental problem is that it's not true to the original comics. So they purposely diversify the cast to make a social statement.....plus all that gay kissing stuff,

so it's a movie with social agenda......

It's worth noting that's the scores with the super diverse cast and openly gay character bonus points.

Actual user scores are going to be brutal.
It's interesting to see that the audience generally liked the movie.

It wasn't bad per se, but i'm just done with super hero movies. Especially the Marvel kind.

I liked the sister but there were def better action scenes and shots in Eternals so agree to disagree
It had better spectacle(?) when the action happened but that was about it. Angelina had the best fighting action scenes in the whole movie. Gilgamesh just pretty much nearly one shots monsters. the Indian guy (can not remember his or the black guys name )misses his ki blasts half the time. I think the speed girl was the one of the better interesting action scenes but I would have liked a better look at her pounding away at Icarus. Eternals had more wow in it's action scenes even if the fights half the time were really short due to them fighting deviants with super powers.

Black widow had better fights since it was regular folks fighting each other and you had the car chase scene, plus that crumbling flying building going down and her escaping from it was really good as well.

Black Widow went full MCU style unfortunately which didn't make much sense since she was suppose to be some spy assassin type character. I agree that the bad guy presentation was terrible. They should have made the main villain more menacing instead of just some guy hiding in a fortress and actually showed in his actions how ruthless he was. The taskmaster was disappointing. I did like her action scenes but I wanted a better villain. I enjoyed the Red Guardians antics but disliked that he was a complete idiot. Like he was suppose to be a super soldier who went on missions regularly and did work as a spy and he just ends up looking like a buffoon in the movie. I get that he wouldn't be as smart as Rachel but they didn't need to make him that stupid. Scarlett worked best when she was working with someone else to play offf of. Her skills were worthless half the time in the movie since Shield had tons of agents who could have done the same thing she did based off what we saw in the movies. The action and the banter in the movie was why I enjoyed the movie and yeah the plot was dumb.

I was thinking about this earlier they pretty much killed a baby to save the world in Eternals.

How did that dude survive in the first place. That was literally my first thought when he popped back up.
"magic trademark"

he literally couldnt possibly move that fast to reach to that point even if he didnt die from being sent near magma.
These movies have no internal consistent logic. I dont question these days.

Disney marketing, using it as a selling point and a shield from criticism. You're right, the movie may well be absolutely fine in reality going in cold, but the pitch turns some people off.
