Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart - Review Thread

Upset about what? Lol, I already stated multiple times that Ratchet is the best looking game I've ever seen, but you're delusional of you think this looks anywhere near Pixar's recent work.

If we're talking fidelity I think you're crazy. Aesthetic sure (SOUL has a great art design), but it isn't a far fetched idea that this game looks fantastic especially for something in as much motion as the game is.

I mean Returnal was a 20 hour game….. I hope this game is close to 16 hours than 12 hours tbh. It’s pretty steep for a $70 game.
TBH, These games are meant to be replayed on NG+ with leveled up weapons. I am ok with 15 quality hours over 40 mediocre hours.

RE8 was only 10 hours long, and I replayed that game like 5 times and got at least 10-15 more hours out of mercenaries. I hate that games are $70 now but I prefer quality over quantity.

This Performance without RT is a dude, why it's even there?
Shitty reflections for a bit more resolution, what?!

Talking about this, it may look good and all, but until they ship these games without glaring clipping between models we should stop comparing it to movies.
I hope this generation games finally solve this!

Lmao if you dont play this in fidelity mode. Significant difference.

Fidelity Mode
As you can see above, Fidelity mode features lots of ships in Nefarious City.

Weeks ago people here were discussing that actually that was not impressive at all because it's just background detail that have almost no cost to the performance, etc.

12-15 hours if you just complete the story, 20-25 hours if you collect everything, and that is excluding the Challenge mode. This is what I'm reading around. To me, is pretty, pretty good.
12-15 hours is on the long side for a Ratchet game. I always get the plats which is usually 2 and a bit play throughs.

STILL 89 MC with 57 reviews now.

What are you even doing here. You not contributing with anything lol
This is a thread about reviews, is it wrong to point out a stupid statement from a reviewer? Or is that not allowed when it comes to Sony games? I mean people do it all the time in other review threads.

I love the huge emphasis on "millions" when R&C games sell at around just 2-3M... Of course it's gonna be hyped up through the roof on this forum, just like Godafll, Destruction AllStars, Sackboy Adventures and Returnal were before, but the reality is there isn't that much of a demand for R&C, most people see it as a kids game to begin with, hence they don't even bother. It's a small, very simple game that doesn't cost a fortune to make but does bring a good chunk profit, that's all, and having multiple 10/10 review scores and GOTY awards won't change any of that. I actually won't be surprised if the newest one won't do as well a recent R&C games due to 70€ price tag to be honest, because like I said, most people see it as something that belongs to Nintendo Switch, and pricing it like it's next CoD or GTA doesn't make any sense for most people out there.

On topic:
Somewhere between 85-95. I can already see the headlines - "the best R&C game up to date!", "a true next-gen experience!", "next-gen starts now!", "SSD is a game-changer!" and so on, while in reality it'll be the same (20 year) old Ratchet where nothing changes other than prettier graphics.
Godfall and Destruction Allstars were hyped through the roof?

There's no demand for Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart?

There's so much wrong in this post

Let what out? Are you stupid? I stated multiple time that it's the best game I've seen, but I'm not gonna pretend it looks like something next gen consoles aren't capable of. Damn, so much denial.

You're going out of your way to nitpick the one point that noone gives a shit about...."Oh It CaNt PoSsIbLy LoOk LiKe InCrEdIbLeS 2" :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

What do i have to be in denial about you halfwit? So again.....gonna cry? Why are you even in this thread.....do you even have a PS5?

Never denied that itt a stellar looking game, but you need to watch Incredibles 2 again to think it's on that level.

Performance RT looks good.

Well, the reviews finally sold me the game. I’ll probably pick it up on release!

I simply pointed out a stupid statement from a reviewer and it was enough to get you butthurt, lol.

I've seen every Pixar movie. The facial work in Incredibles 2 is great and what I've seen in R&C doesn't look terrible either; perhaps if you gave an example of how Pixar does something better than what we've seen in the R&C gameplay. This overly broad "It just looks worse. . ." is likely why you're getting pushback.

Advice for everyone: do the first run on Quality mode, then play the Challenge run on Performance mode. I've played almost all R&C games, and for me Challenge mode has always been more hectic and fun than the first run.

I wasn’t criticising the game, at all. It looks like a fantastic, animated Pixar movie. Simply that R&C is one of those really fun games you play for 20 hours and then move on from.
Yeah and that's what 99% people do. This notion that people want to play games forever is not true.

Also most movies you watch once or twice and move on. Doesn't make it bad. Infact I don't even want to waste my time once I have played a game. Time is precious for most and I imagine you would want as many new experience as you can in that limited time.

How to respond like a reasonable gamer: “Glad to see the high reviews! I was anticipating this game and I’m glad it’s living up to the hype”.

How to respond like a console warrior tool: “OMG this is such a win for my PlayStation family!!! Another fantastic EXCLUSIVE!!!”

Glad I’m away for work this weekend or I’d probably get caught up in the hype and pay full price.

Love me some Ratchet, although I didn’t actually finish the last one, which is rare for me.

$50 or (hopefully) less at Black Friday and I’m in.

Watched Skill Up and DF’s videos.

Well shit, a game exclusively designed for a next gen console is the best looking game ever, with new game mechanics only possible on the new tech?

Shocker.

...looks like I’m going to have to buy this after all 😂 (in about three weeks for twenty quid on ebay that is. Dat seventy quid price tag really does take the pass).

The lighting, textures, effects, hair and fur rendering is at least a generation behind Incredibles 2 and recent Pixar movies. Insomniac are doing the best they can to squeeze as much juice as they can out of PS5, but we're at least a generation away from matching current day CGI cinema. This is not a criticism at Ratchet, it looks impressive, but people have been comparing Ratchet to Pixar since PS2 days and when you look back you realise how ridiculous some of those statements have been. To me it's definitely up there with Pixar's work in mid 2000s, but obviously not recent stuff.

Watching more Gameplay of Ratchet , IMO Insomniac would do a great job with some other licensed stuff. Some may scoff at this , I think they are a great fit if there was ever to be another Ghostbusters game. They have the charm and technical ability to pull it off.
