I mean... you can blame Tata, or Messi, or Higuaín, but at some point it has to go beyond what happens on the field.

Also congrats on the Chileans! I had an inkling it would end up this way after the Mexico game. Can't be that sore after you became champions.

I really feel like shit for Messi, seriously. He will receive such amount of flak (a lot of it truly undeserved).

Also, poor Mascherano and Romero, I really like both guys. They are classy.

Hopefully they're left alone, they both did great in this tourney.

Mascherano should definitely be the team's captain.

Someone has clearly cursed Argentina's football team.

So do they just have a Copa America on a random year or what? The numbers on the wikipedia follow no pattern.

Yeah right Diego only player well for 4 weeks during his life. LOL.

And Diego alone made Napoli into something singlehandedly. Messi has always played along other goat level players in Barcelona.

We've seen clubs assemble GOAT level players before and other than Arrigo Sachi's AC Milan. No one has ever produced the level of play Barcelona has demonstrated in the last decade. The one constant has been Messi.

Maradona singlehandedly made napoli a contender on calccio, messi is the greatest player in the world right now, but maradona was better. Also you have to trust argentinians when they say that maradona is bigger.

I'm sorry. Has Getafe ever won the Copa Del Rey? Because Napoli was two time winners of Coppa Italia before Maradona got there and have done so twice since. They're not Serie A minnows.

Messi would win La Liga with this year's Sevilla squad. No question.

lol no

80s Serie A is considered the best football legue of all time. Maradona won that two times with a midtier team. The amount of talent a competitiveness in 80s Serie A was unprecedented.

But he did, Aguero and Higuaine missed his setups

But he didn't by missing this pk. One on one in an intense pressure situation. That is when you are supposed to show up. He choked when the pressure was the highest and that is simply inexcusable. You can't be the best of all time when you miss shots like this. That's what the best of all time players from any sport do. They show up in these moments.

Diego Maradona has two Serie A titles to his name his entire career. four great weeks in 1986 does not make up for a decade of Messi's incandescent brilliance.

Messi is better than Maradona but you are understating the value of those two Serie A titles with Napoli. That was truly remarkable feat especially when you consider that arguably the greatest team of all time played only a few hours north of them.

I'll give Chile credit they're a resilient team with multiple world-class players and great team play. They slayed the Spain witch and beat Messi in 2 finals. Messi was broken like a teenage girl on the sidelines. Those are amazing feats that validate Chile's class.
