That like saying nobody cares bout Ratchet or Returnal which is false and you know it

No, it's more like saying nobody cares about Banjo and Conker fur.

Ratchet and Returnal just had GOTY contenders put out, and Returnal specially is already a classic in its genre. Crash and Spyro are dead franchises. Ask AB.

And if you think MS bought AB to suddenly go big on Crash and Spyro, uh, well good luck.

He must be talking about the cloud or maybe bringing COD mobile/warzone to switch. There is no way the switch can handle the yearly premium titles.
I think he's talking warzone for both ps and switch. Not mainline games.

Whatever is good for them they financially they are going to do it. Microsoft has little interest in console wars and they want to reach out to as many players as possible.

Even Xbox fanboys know MS is straight up evil, and the only thing they ever had going for them was endless money.
Ah yes the first 17 years of Xbox division where they had less funding then their competition, all their second party devs like bizzare creations, bioware or double helix being snatched up and destroyed by other publishers and the entire xbox division acted as a subdivision to windows. Endless money indeed. Pretty funny that all these warriors were accusing microsoft of being cheap and saying "future of xbox is game pass filler" or "xbox only buys aa devs" before bethesda purchase.

Significantly more people care about crash than they do about returnal and ratchet combined. The crash trilogy sold over 10m copies. I don't think ratchet and returnal combined sold half that. You can cling to your precious goty awards all you want. No one cares.

Crash and Spyro are not dead now if you want to talk bout really dead franchise look at Killzone & Socom them are truly dead franchise
If you believe MS bought them for 70 billion just to keep the status quo you are surly mistaken

lol “the microsoft conflict”

“A grizzled veteran makes a vague reference to a battle he fought in something called the Microsoft Conflict, which got so brutal the soldiers ended up beating each other with their own severed limbs”

Hope has nothing to do with it. I KNOW I'll be able to play every new cod game for free on game pass. You don't even know if you'll be able to play the new games at all on your ps, regardless of how much you're willing to spend. It's an uncertain time for you. Not for me
Gamepass is free?

Like I said: The future is clear, MS is going full multiplat. There's nothing you can do about it.
Someone raked his brains and thought MS buying ActiBliz will somehow end their own platform which is their biggest source of revenue(their revenue is almost double that of ActiBliz mind you). I mean what would the people running the MS gaming division for decades even know? Here Swift_Star Swift_Star will tell you how the guys at MS don't know they just doomed their gaming platform and lost most of their revenue.

Just like a politician, misinformation just means information you don't like regardless of truth or not.

Or it actually means misinformation..........
The "truth" in this case is conjecture on both parties considering its in the future and subject to interperatation, so if you are sure your interperaltation is right, why hold me to a different standard?

Actually there is Starfield & Redfall are Xbox console exclusive so expect any new Activision title to be Xbox Console exclusive that are not COD

I think this talk is all about Call Of Duty and Overwatch, everything else is on a case by case basis that is an existing franchise and new stuff will be for Gamepass/Xbox/PC.

idk why the green rats get all up in a tizzy about what this means for X IP on Xbox and whether it will be exclusive

if it's included on game pass which is a guarantee then that's all that matters for me from a value perspective. who cares where it ends up otherwise

Back in 2020 Phil said that google and amazon were their real competitors

Phil said:
"That's not to disrespect Nintendo and Sony, but the traditional gaming companies are somewhat out of position. I guess they could try to re-create Azure, but we've invested tens of billions of dollars in cloud over the years."

Now with recent news of acti/blizz staying multiplat, do you guys think he REALLY meant it?

I was skeptical, but now I don't know what to think, maybe he was telling the truth all along and we are eating crow?

But if he WAS telling the truth, then what that means for the future of gaming in general?

2020 Thread about it

Because of the Xbox platform Microsoft's gaming division almost makes double that ActiBliz every year. And people think they will abandon that now and go multiplat?

As if cod single player even matters. There’s a reason why those games are like 4 or 5 hours and completely inconsequential. Only half of the players even finish the first mission.

They make nice ads and trailers. But sure all of a sudden they are these bastion of quality because Xbox.

All MSFT care about right now are subscriptions and cloud. This is across their entire company. Of course they are going to talk down about “traditional game companies.” They have everything to gain by talking themselves up as ahead of the curve.

Yet, they are still third place in an industry with three main players. Nintendo is breaking records and Sony is killing it.

Meanwhile, Stadia is basically on life support and Amazon can’t seem to release a working game, beyond an MMO that has shed players like crazy due to ongoing issues and a lack of updates.

He was probably telling the truth back then, even though he knew he was fanning some flames. Don’t forget that at that time a lot of suits had decided streaming was about to take over, so Phil obviously would have seen MS in. Superior position for that due to Azure. I’m not exaggerating either, these suits were so convinced on streaming that Stadia actually launched and had first party studios for a few days. A lot of people were too young to remember, but Stadia was actually a thing once.

Future of gaming is subscription services. Hardware will not be important. That's been known for years but people on this forum somehow fail to understand it.
Doubtful until internet infrastructure can get rid of latency and data throttling. Hardware isn’t going anywhere. And if it does, I’m definitely going PC 100% all in.

Of course he was telling the truth. If you think Sony and Nintendo are on equal terms economically with a trillion dollar business like Microsoft? Boy, you don't know jack.
I like to think that most people have realized the order of magnitude difference by now, with the Bethesda and Activision-Blizzard purchases.

You really don’t understand if you’re calling Sony, Nintendo and MS the ‘main players’. Tencent is indisputably the 5000lb gorilla of the industry…and they’ll be acquiring tens of studios in the next couple of years.

But Amazon and Apple havent shown any indication that they want to be a big part of this industry. Amazon literally killed their only studio. Google also shut down their studios and has pretty much failed.

I think he was just creating this big boogeyman to justify his future purchases.

It's not like internet is getting slower, right? I will buy the newest PC hardware for as long as they will manufacture it but I understand where the money is long term. Streaming. Subscriptions. The biggest gaming company (by revenue) sells exactly 0 consoles.

No arguments on the subscriptions.

Streaming doesn’t have the infrastructure in place for everyone to abandon boxes and stream everything. That is a massive amount of traffic.

You can’t disagree that Microsoft’s mix messaging is what creating threads like this one min everything’s game pass one min we are the gaming jizz god all our games are great for gamers except the ones we make exclusive. No we putting games everywhere like you can’t fault him for saying what he’s saying. Microsoft still has a messaging problem.

It's clear MS are sweating over the regulators with this one. And they need to put on a good show, otherwise kiss goodnight to future acquisitions.
