Julia Roberts wasn't even back for Ocean's 13 so I'm not surprised she's not back for this either.

It'd be a neat tie-in though, if this movie was about her being off doing her own thing with her own group during that same time period. The guys were back in Las Vegas, but her and her group were off in another city pulling off their own heist. She was excellent in the first two movies on her own, and the chemistry with her and Clooney was really fun (the scene where they were teaching her how to be Julia Roberts was hysterical, imo. That must have been really fun to shoot!). Now she could do more stuff on her own and continue being her own badass.

Mindy Kaling makes me a little worried they're gonna miss the low-key comedic brilliance of the originals in favor of off the wall crazy, but maybe I'm blowing it out of proportion.

You'd have to believe that the writers can put a script together that can have them carry normal conversations on screen. If you don't have that (and good chemistry of course), it's gonna fall flat on its face. You may have women overacting their lines to compensate for something, I know not what. But it won't look good regardless

Yeah, it's hard to tell in one bad movie that was heavily criticized for being poorly written, how good an actor somebody is. For instance, the first time I saw Natalie Portman was in the Star Wars prequels and I thought she was one of the worst actresses. Come to find out, it wasn't her acting; it was the script and direction of those god awful films.

I looked through the cast list and you're right. I guess it's so front loaded it felt like everyone was a star.

Big missed opportunity in not having Jolie in here but she seems mostly retired from acting at this point

Like her or not I thought Lawrence was a shoe in for the Matt Damon part. But Hathaway will work as well.

Hope we get a cloondawg and Pitt cameo in here. Loved the cast chemistry in the oceans trilogy. Especially the bickering between casey affleck and Scott Caan.
