It's because, for some reason, some people think Sony should be doing daily press releases like Microsoft, which I don't understand. Games have been coming out. State of plays have been happening. I don't get all this "finally" talk. Games development is slow, there just aren't announcements to make every day/week/month.
True. Also, I'd much prefer a 40-minute packed show with actual gameplay once a year than three 1-hour shows that are filled with cringy influencers and CGI trailers. Don't waste our time.

Only looking forward to more God of War, all other known quantities don't care about. FFXVI could win me over some if it shows proper party gameplay and story elements, but it will take a lot because that first trailer I didn't care for at all.

Need something out of left field like Dragon Dogma's 2 or a new Ueda game to get excited.

Hoping for

Updates:
Horizon: Forbidden West
GT7
Little Devil Inside
Kena: Bridge of Spirits
SIFU
Forspoken

Probably there but not fussed:
Abandoned
Death Stranding: Director's Cut
Stray
Deathloop

And that's a wrap in 40mins

That is one awful event if it happens.
We’ve seen all those above. Lets have something new. We havent had a new exclusive or 1st party game announced since September 2020.

I dont want anymore DeathLoop, Kena, DeathStranding ( its almost 2 years old now ) Horizon 2, or Sifu, even Stray. We’ve seen all these enough.
New games please

They seemed so
Why? In the last couple of months or so they released Ratchet, Guilty Gear, FF Intergrade and GoT DC, bought Housemarque and Nixxes, announced new 2nd party top partnerships with the Destiny, AC and CoD BO guys, shown Horizon 2 gameplay and announced Death Stranding DC, GoT DC and cool indie stuff.

Only 40 min is very disappointing imo. Sony has been silent and delaying games now for so long while MS has been open and communicating. They will have to surprise drop a AAA game next week for the wait to have been validated.
All they need is to show like 4-5 new gameplay trailers of some good looking games and it's already better than these recent shows we've been seeing IMO

I expect:
New call of duty
New fifa
God of war ragnarok
Little Devil Inside
Ghostwire Tokyo
Something GTA related

Hopefully some nice surprises

In my opinion, God of War is being shown is pretty much a lock, they might even give a release date if it's coming out in April or May. GT7 is a lock and so is Horizon: Forbidden West. Factions 2 has a good shot and I believe maybe Firewalk's multiplayer game will be shown as well. A surprise announcement may be either Bluepoint's new game or the Last of Us: Remake coming next year.

For 3rd parties Kena, Deathloop, and Forespoken seem plausible. There was also a rumor of an exclusive Bioshock game coming to PS5 so that might make an appearance, FF 16 is doubtful.

Expectations through the roof. There hasn't been a proper playstation event for around a year.

Sony are gonna go huge. This will be a big one!
It's only 40 minutes long. At least four of the first party games are cross gen. there will be indies and third party trash like CoD. I would keep my expectations in check.

Sony's E3 2015 show was way better than their 2014 show. The same is going to be true this year. Horizon, GT7, GoW, TLOU Factions are not going to blow anyone away. It will be a decent showing at best.

E3 2022 is when they will finally show up with next gen games that are 2-3 years away.

I dunno man, all the boys ar Sony are talking this up. I think it will be a great showing. They've been silent for ages, I just don't think they will come half assed.

They do that all the time.

In the last 40 minute show in September last year, they showed the following:
- 3 minute trailer for FF16
- 3 minute trailer for Harry Potter
- 7 minute footage of Miles
- 5 minute demo of Demon Souls
- 5 minute CoD black ops demo
- RE8 trailer
- Deathloop trailer
- DMC trailer
- Couple of indie games.

40 minutes just isnt enough to blow anyone away. You are going to get a very by the numbers conference.

Thank fuck it's not a State of Play.

Many people were predicting multiple SOP events scattered throughout the next few months to reveal multiple titles. Same people were saying the same thing even last year.

However I've been saying for months now that it's simply not Sony's style to miss out on a huge blowout event in which they can potentially reveal some BIG titles. Sony are divas, they want all the attention, glamour and eyes they can get, just look at their previous events in the past year or two and look at the amount of views they've garnered, it's insane.

Gonna be insane if they show half of it. Arent PLAYDEAD and Ueda’s games funded by Epic therefore PC timed exclusive?
