Elon Musk buys Twitter

That I know. And I will be infinitely grateful for that. No more "Mike37618964627392836" telling me his hot take of why Putin is just misunderstood.

I'm talking specifically about stuff like Russia Today or other outlets going full ham on straight up lies regarding things that actually matter again like it was before Twitter introduced more strict guidelines on misinformation. That kind of thing coming back isn't good for anyone. Especially the company itself.
Oh blow it out your ass

I don't know what you guys are referring to, I guess I don't keep up with social media that much. I can only speak to the Hunter Biden ordeal which I think most people would agree was sensationalist and out of bounds. If that also applies to your examples then I would agree with you.
The hunter Biden who had horrible things on his laptop that was proven true or Hillary who fabricated “Russia gate” who is now going to court because of overwhelming evidence uncovered?

Both of those were protected and hand waved by Twitter which was used to fuel the media circus.

I swear, if Musk ever implements proper dress code and a strict 9-5 hour work schedule, I would make a Twitter account just to troll the employees.

And to be fair, it's not like Twitter is a creative kind of company where there's writers and artists all wanting to work in sweat pants staring at their Mac. It's a tech company with servers, algorithms, people moderating tweets. It's a tech company that seems a lot closer to IT than a video game company. And every IT person I've worked with dresses the same as the rest of us. Business casual, and jeans are allowed on Fridays.

Crack down on it Elon. Mandatory business or casual closed toe shoes, no sneakers, buttoned and collared shirts only, no weird hair or face piercings.

Ahhh, I don't want to continue with the politics but you do realize numerous people within his administration went to jail for their ties to Russia, we know that they met numerous times, he invited a Russian spy chief into the Oval Office after firing the head of his main justice apparatus, he defended Putin numerous times in the public square, etc, etc, etc, etc. I realize you may have been gaslit into denying the obvious facts, but that doesn't mean any of it is untrue.

Sorry mods, I just think that this bit of attempted gaslighting really needed highlighting as it's basically one step away from full-blown conspiracy crap like denying the Jan 6th insurrection happened or that the election was stolen.

blah blah blah NOW they want to hold big tech accountable, but not when all of them ban at the same time the sitting president of the USA. Amazing

They just have absolutely no logical/moral principles whatsoever. Statements like that show you that they think the average citizen is incredibly dumb and cannot notice the most glaringly obvious double standards, or perhaps cannot remember anything beyond 5 minutes ago.

Clearly not. It's pretty hilarious folks are cheering this on as some sort of vindication of some internalized victimization. They will be sad soon enough.

It’s baffling. They’re all carrying on like Musk is the second coming of Donald Trump.

Do they realise that things haven’t just got better for them? If anything they’ve got worse?

Twitter won’t move from the left to the right. It’ll become way more centrist. Which is where most of us are.

Both far left and far right will be crowded out.

It’s hilarious how half of them can’t even see this!

They were sharing personal information that the party who was being exposed didn't want made public. Remember Hunter wasn't holding any kind of political office and wasn't a public figure. He had the temerity of being the rich-kid son of the future US president and was a crack head or whatever. That doesn't give the NYP free reign to share his private data.

They literally lied and called the laptop fake and “Russian disinformation.”

They knew what they were doing. It wasn’t about ethics or morals either.

Who ever said it's going to be full blown right wing?

But given Musk's personality on social media, he's the type of guy who can take a punch, dish one out and simply let people do their own thing. He'll let things slide enough so there's more right leaning discussion so it balances out.

And if it does come true as you say (more centrist and extreme posters get crowded out), that sounds like a good result to me. Yet you also say it's got worse. I guess it means you like extreme views battling it out.

it’s all known now that it was made up. Anyone who went to prison for a few days only did so because the witch hunt uncovered other things for those people. Nothing from Russian dealings that was all BS.

It’s all here from a leftist source.

I wonder when the first rounds of layoffs will be for the people not "aligned with the mission".
I'd say soon. No doubt this year. Maybe the summer. Any businessman involved with hard goods (manufacturing) knows about costs and too many people hanging around. He's anti-union too which will make him even tougher on costs. He's going to analyze the people count (which for a company like Twitter will be their biggest costs) and it'll be chopping block time.

A handy guide to understanding the Hitler scale. Raises in magnitude

1.0 restricting speech. Mild, is good when used against the wrong ideas. Not Hitler

2.0 State control of corporations. A bit stronger, but this is a first step to bring
about socialism on a national level. National socialism so to speak. Still safe

3.0 Genocide. As long as the right people are targeted this can bring about a social utopia that can last 1000 years. Can't go any higher though.
.
.
9.0 Advocating for free speech. Simply awful, speech is violence and kills people. The uberme.. I mean marginalized need protection . ELON IS HERE

11.0 stating grade school biological facts. Literally worse than Hitler, there has never been a worse thing than misgendering someone.

Elon is faster than most so you are probably right. People say a year but I think that's way too long. The first thing to always do is trim the fat because twitter undoubtedly has a lot of it. 5 bill in revenue and they still made nothing good grief.

And also Twitter loses money. Although given his wealth he might not give a shit. Also, big tech companies seem to last forever losing money, but retain giant stock prices and valuations regardless.

For a company with endless users and tweets, it's amazing they cant make a dime of profit. Even Pinterest makes money.

Sometimes, I guess, but need I remind us of Neogaf's policies....

Always going to be subjective... but like porn, you know it when you see it when it comes to hate speech. I suspect that advertisers, etc will also be considering that when they engage on the platform. Either way, I don't see Elon Musk turning it into that - I don't think there's any crow to be had or reason to be upset. Twitter was shitty before, and it shall remain so because at it's core it's a shitty platform. (it's why I am here, versus there, as an example)

You compared porn to Twitter

Yeah I can't imagine what happened between yesterday and today to change the situation. 🤔
As if that woman has a genuine bone in her body.

Oh, and now Twitter is a very important social media square that “can threaten democracy.” Funny that. She’s sounding more and more like what we’ve been saying for years.

Don’t get it twisted. He did play by the rules. She is being disingenuous. Her specialty.
