Xbox, Nintendo, and Sony won't be a part of E3 2023

Only the video game industry has this much disdain for their fans. This is the one fucking event we have in the year and they continue to skip it year after year. Amazing.

They do show up at CES to jerk off tech journalists and car nerds, but one event for fans of gaming? Nah, give those users some trashy 20 minute state of plays and directs.

Mind you, Xbox not having a booth at E3 does not mean that they won't actually be there.

They're likely gonna have their usual showcase and their "Booth" at the Microsoft Theater which is literally in front of the LA convention center, as they have already done. So, at least for Xbox, this is likely misleading.

MS and Nintendo will still have their ‘E3’ type showcases. This news is just saying they won’t participate in the physical expo.

yeah, Microsoft is basically part of E3 without paying the E3 guys any money...
just have a both directly next to it, basically having the same effect and maybe even a more visible and bigger presence as well, all while spending less money as well compared to paying into E3

The funny thing is, all three of them will still do their own thing during E3 Week. But MS will probable do things at the Microsoft Theater.

Hope this isn't true. I like E3 shows and wish all the biggest gaming companies and developers participate.
The spectacle and hype starting weeks before E3 is great, with rumors, predictions, previews, noise, etc.

Not a fan of the direct showcases Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft are doing nowadays. Those showcases are equivalent to eating food without salt... bland.

E3 is a dinosaur. There was a time when you need to reveal what you have to offer to journalists in order to get the news out, to then get people to know about your product.

Why pay for a booth, when you can just live stream your product in a manner that you control? Journalists could always report in ways that aren't favorable.

Conventions these days exist for fans to hang out with each other and show off costumes. Marketing is better done elsewhere. Unless you have actual demos for people to play, why bother with renting a space? Nintendo for an exception has the Breath of the Wild demo that was very successful.

This year is going to be quiet all around with MS trying to convince regulators they have no games and need COD to compete and Sony trying to say they don't have much and need COD to survive.

Not going to see any event from MS or Sony full of 1st party boasting and bragging until the deal is done.

That's what I was thinking. No massive stage show but booths set up somewhere.

I honestly forget that E3 is still around, I thought it officially stopped a few years ago.
