My last order was sent out on the JP release date. FedEx takes only a few days, depending on where you live

First, experiences from France. Now in the UK and ordered something from them this week, so don't know how it is for USA for example.
I usually pick either through EMS (4-5 days or less) or registered airmail (since I usually don't need something super quickly, so 1/1.5w for this). Picked FedEx one time and got it in 2-3 days, but not taking it anymore since it always go through customs, and is a bit faster than EMS while more expensive, for the same protection.
Their averages are pretty much what they advertise.
Good reliable store, with first print bonuses, a bit cheaper than normal price and in good packages.
edit: and yeah, they always send on JP release date or day before when they can. Nothing before that, but usually pretty fast to ship.

I believe I've ordered magazines off Amazon Japan before, and they shipped via FedEx, but they wanted money at the door.
I did order a game in the past off Play-Asia via FedEx, and I want to say it arrived to me the same day as Japanese release date, or at the latest one day after, but I may be remembering incorrectly.

Going through customs is a bit like a random lottery. It depends on your country laws (maximum value of the item before you need to pay VAT, partnerships with specific countries, is that a gift, etc) and if they select your package (usually randomly, but based on your kind of shipping) to see if you should pay and how much. They then either make you pay at the door, keep the package until you pay or send you a bill afterwards.
My experience is 9/10 times caught at customs with Fedex, 6-7/10 with EMS, and 3/10 times with registered/regular airmail (below that isn't worth it since it isn't much cheaper and waaay slower).
Some websites, like Nin-Nin and Nippon Yassan has a service to avoid customs (basically sending the package to a storage place in europe, and then through amazon or similar), but it's taking between 2 weeks and a month.
Oh yeah, and CDJapan is basically Neowing if you want to see what kind of first press bonuses they usually get.

It's just extra money you have to pay, yeah. You can't really avoid it if you go for fast courier shipping, but people are saying they often dont have to pay anything with Nippon Yasan and FedEx since they mark down even that

Just remember to pre-order early, as they might close them a few days or a week before release. Thats true for some of the other sites as well though

They are obviously a reduced team. Which means they are probably working 2-3 characters at a time or so, and by the looks of it, by popularity order (since the top 4 is in the screenshots+trailer, and we've barely seen Ayane yet).
At least seems we'll get updates regularly.
So it's an entire deck? I'll probably import the CE. If I make a Japanese account to download the DLC, I wonder if it can be used with my main account (for PS4 specifically)?

At least in Finland there's no punishment if the price is incorrect or it's marked as a gift. They ask for the invoice, and you pay the normal VAT and customs fees according to that real price.
Of course could be different elsewhere.

During the stream they said the Saikyo pack was an Amazon/Gamecity exclusive.

Try using Tenso Japan (Jshoppers) forwarding service instead. Their handling fee is only 150yen, and they give a 5% discount on shipping rates via EMS. I've used them for a few years now and they're great.

Tenso is great. I'm still going to hope AmiAmi gets it in though. Cuts out the middle man and they give awesome prices (on figures, not sure about games/collector's editions so much).

This is the kind of shit that really grinds my gears. You have a cast of characters that are super-human ninjas during battle yet they can't even balance or stand properly on a platform while getting nudged.
Why the hell do you bother with making this game and ruining the image of the combatants in the Dead or Alive series? What ever happened to the whole "I'm a Fighter" campaign and then suddenly turning all of them into "Do-Nothing-Sex-Objects"? Why not make a new IP so you can retain the shroud of respect left to the characters of the Dead or Alive franchise?

Seriously though I hope they have other modes other than butt battle. Beach soccer would be legit, and I'd be really pumped if you could take your partner out on an outing or something (watch a movie, having dinner, hanging out at the casino, etc).

As for the whole 'I'm a Fighter' thing, they tried. Mad props to them for still promoing fighting tournaments. But the main fighting community didn't even give DOA5 an honest try. It's still a legit solid 3D fighter, but no one outside DOA fans cares, so KT caters to those. And the old fans have always been happy with the sexiness.
VR Mode? I do wonder how they plan to utilise VR. I doubt PSVR will be out in Feb, so they'll have time to adjust things after initial release.
